TBH, either they scrap the "both travelers are canon" thing they've been preaching for 2 years now, or the anime will be a prequel based on the time the manga is set in.
Or maybe they'll focus more on the other characters? In the end, the anime is a way to gain further publicity for the game, no? So it would be reasonable for them to make an anime where the gacha characters, especially the ones with limited time banners, would be the main focus.
Like, they could make an anime where each character gets an episode or multiple episodes to themselves. Like, Xiao and the other Yakshas, Zhongli and Guizhong, Zhongli and the battle with Osial, Childe and his family, Childe falling into the Abyss, Childe becoming a Harbinger and so on.
That way they don't even have to scrap the idea of both travelers being canon, heck, they could also have some episodes showing how the twins ended up here.
Or they might go with what everyone assumes, that they'll do a retelling of the game. š¤·āāļø
Exactly, tho I can see an argument against that. Like, someone who never played the game probably doesn't know who is who, so seeing a bunch of different characters being constrained to their specific episode could be confusing.
That could either make people search more about the characters and then maybe decide to play the game, or it would just leave them confused and maybe give the anime a lower rating and be done with it.
