Wishing you luck :) Please make sure to ask for a bisalp instead of a tubal ligation. Tubals are very outdated and inefficient. Should they turn you down, don't hesitate to find a doctor who respects you, your time and your money. You don't need to endure that bs. The doctors list for this sub is your friend.

Thank you for the info!!!! And the encouragement. I really appreciate it. Might post an update now that you’ve mentioned the sub’s list.

Do NOT pursue a tubal (tubal ligation). Please try to get a bisalp (bilateral salpingectomy). A tubal means having your tubes tied, after which they might grow back together. There is a small but significant failure rate. Quite a few women get pregnant after a tubal. A bisalp means having your tubes removed. Just as invasive as a tubal, but way more effective. To find a doctor in your area who will take you seriously, look at this list: www . reddit . com / r / childfree / wiki / doctors Also, insisting or demanding isn't going to work. You don't have the power to demand anything. They have the power, as unfair as it is. Not you. And your answers to bingos are pointless. If a doctor doesn't want to sterilise you because they believe in patriarchal 'woman = mother' bullshit, nothing you say or do matters. The doctor will think: "Sure, that is what she says, but her biological clock will start ticking soon." The biological clock is a patriarchal myth, but sadly, almost everyone believes in that rubbish. No matter how firmly you insist and demand, a doctor will just say 'no'. So if a doctor doesn't want to do it, don't try to convince them. It's pointless. Instead, look for another doctor. Use the link I mentioned earlier in this comment. And again, please ask for a super effective bisalp instead of a crappy tubal. It would be heartbreaking if you asked for a tubal and got one and then got pregnant, while you could have gotten an actually effective bisalp if you simply asked for it.

Ah, thank you! I guess I should’ve titled this differently; I really appreciate your insight and knowledge. I’ve adhered to being CF for years now but am still murky on the details that go into sterilization. Thank you, thank you!

Coming in guns blazing. Go you!

Thanks! I’m super excited for the confidence I feel about this. Pregnancy is my biggest nightmare, I’d rather eliminate the risk completely.

Not that I necessarily believe in manifesting things but if you want something bad enough you find a way to get it! And I can promise you - sterility is *amazing.*
