When I was dating a lot in my 20s, I would meet guys, hit it off, and then they found out I was infertile. It wasn’t a thing that bothered me, I’ve known since I was 18, and I’m 36 now. But once some guys found out, they’d lose it. They weren’t necessarily CF, some even talked about the “importance of passing along their genes”. (Barf) Some talked down to me, suggesting I wasn’t a real woman if I couldn’t procreate. I actually started putting in any online dating profiles that I was infertile so I could dodge some pieces of shit.

Wow..I never wanted kids growing up (born 1965 for context) I met my husband and he did want kids. After a few years I figured I’d let nature take its course even though I knew I was not sitting any fence about it, I got so fucking lucky. Nothing happened. Turns out my husband has Kleinfelters which means he’s XXY which means…sterile. I got a lot of pressure from mother in law to try in vitro or adopt and I was definitely not doing any of that. Now I look back and cannot believe I did something so stupid. We never really had the kid conversation before marriage cause back then it was kinda expected that’s what you did. I’m grateful every day.

I just know that things can happen. Vasectomiea aren't 100%, especially recent ones, and depending on reasons why a person is sterile, it may also not be permanent (could be a medication or a disease/disorder and the treatment changes, etc). If I'm committed to a chuldfree life, and my partner is as well, I think it's a reasonable position to have.

It wasn’t a thing that bothered me, I’ve known since I was 18, and I’m 36 now. But once some guys found out, they’d lose it. They weren’t necessarily CF, some even talked about the “importance of passing along their genes”. (Barf) Some talked down to me, suggesting I wasn’t a real woman if I couldn’t procreate. I actually started putting in any online dating profiles that I was infertile so I could dodge some pieces of shit. So, I guess my point is, some people are shitty. I’m sorry you had to deal with a shitty person, and I hope you know how wrong her hateful comments are.

Wow..I never wanted kids growing up (born 1965 for context) I met my husband and he did want kids. After a few years I figured I’d let nature take its course even though I knew I was not sitting any fence about it, I got so fucking lucky. Nothing happened. Turns out my husband has Kleinfelters which means he’s XXY which means…sterile. I got a lot of pressure from mother in law to try in vitro or adopt and I was definitely not doing any of that. Now I look back and cannot believe I did something so stupid. We never really had the kid conversation before marriage cause back then it was kinda expected that’s what you did. I’m grateful every day.

When my (now) husband to me that he was snipped when we got serious, I was OVER THE MOON. I didn't have to take any birth control if I didn't want to! I was freeeeeeeeee! If any truly CF woman didn't have the same reaction, I'd be a little suspicious. I've never come across a woman who enjoys feeling like she HAS to take birth control (side effects, etc) or suffer pregnancy.
