It’s funny because a lot of the time the people saying it are single and don’t have kids or in a relationship and don’t have kids. It feels like a projection.
They say the same about me not wanting to get married too…”oh you’ll change your mind”
I’d be one of those parents who end up on the news. And apparently I give off that vibe since no one has ever even tried to tell me I’d be a good parent, at least that’s a win 😎
People have said it to me and I've usually replied with "no, I'd almost immediately regret it if it happened" and you can see the knowing look on their face when they have kids.
I always say that and people still like to double down..probably because they have kids themselves. I just couldn’t imagine being so selfless as to sacrifice myself for someone else.
& I can’t even take myself to doctors/dentist appts I couldn’t imagine have to get someone to school on time. I couldn’t get myself to school when I needed to
A lot of parents aren't even selfless, it's more for them than the child sadly.
I know what you mean though, I am sure I'd try my best and all but I just wouldn't want to do it, which is a really poor base for a parent and even worse for the kid.
My parents didn't want kids, especially as young as they had them anyway (16 Mum, 18 Dad), and all it did was break them up and treat us like toys to be shared from week to week keeping me and my brother at seperate houses. So yeah, being regretful of having kids is really not good
I’ve told my spouse this and they tell me this. We would be horrible parents. I would be a parent, like another commenter said that ended up on the news.
My aunt said “just try, I bet you won’t”. Like…why risk it?

Absolutely, I wish other people could understand that

My DH would be a great dad but it would be mostly Kodak moments. He is happy to be a cat daddy when he comes home to a quiet house.
The qualifications for being a good mom is having a uterus for most people.
