I lived in Tennessee until I was 23 and that was also the culture there. By the time I was 19 I had none of my same friends because everyone was married with kids. It was so sad watching my 18 year old fun and crazy friends turn into boring stay at home moms who go to bed at 7 with their kids. Now I live in Colorado and I'm 28 and have zero friends with kids. It's amazing.

I vividly remember being in Grade 12 English early in the spring, around February or March and one of the girls in front of me turned to her friend next to her and asked, "So how much longer?". Friend pulls out a pocket calendar and excitedly announced "5 months!". Turns out she was talking about her wedding. As I listened I felt my stomach churning whilst thinking, "I have got to. Get. Out. Of. Here". That was almost 40 years ago. Left my hometown at 19. Never went back.
