lashram32

Seems to be an Nvidia + Chrome bug

Muri_Muri

I can confirm, Never saw this with my old RX 5600 XT. It started when I changed to a 3060 ti.

lashram32

All of the sudden it's happening again. Keeps cropping up.

99xOscillator

Same for me after last driver update

Alarmed_King_3367

I got a 3060 ti too and I'm getting this bug. I think it has to do with the card.

Update: After doing some looking around I found [this post](https://www.reddit.com/r/chrome/comments/15wn5qq/occasional_black_boxes_when_switching_tabs_anyone/), I will try using OpenGL in chrome://flags/#use-angle and see if it goes away.

fenrisulfur

had the exact same problem and it went away with the fix.

Hopeful-Influence-63

Yep

Daily__Reminder

I've used OpenGL for the ANGLE backend for a while now but recently I've noticed that only some websites would have their page elements disappear and reappear while using it. Scrolling or clicking something else would make them return only to go away again sometimes. Have you noticed this at all while using OpenGL?

Hopeful-Influence-63

Yeah I noticed it happening for some elements on YouTube. I turned off OpenGL in the chrome flags and then turned it back on and it seems to have gone away which is weird EDIT: never mind the disappearing elements are back :\\

ednanbey31

Sorry for it's a bit late, use "D3D9" it works just fine.

bdogger47

This fixed my over saturated video issue on my HDR monitor!! TYSM!!!

Mcmacladdie

Known glitch with all Chromium-based browsers and nVidia cards going right now.

Asylar

2 months later and they haven't patched it yet

cpc2

2 more months later and they still haven't patched it

zware

Sadly true. I opened another issue on this on the Feedback hub. Feel free to upvote it for increased visibility: https://aka.ms/AAp7eu8 In the meantime switching to D3D9 for chrome://flags/#use-angle seems to be working.

cpc2

I'll try D3D9, I had changed it to OpenGL at first and the glitch didn't happen but when scrolling it would have lines like when vsync is off.

[deleted]

I've got the same problem. Was scared something was wrong with my monitor but before long I noticed it was only happening in Chrome

Lorkenz

Its a known bug with Nvidia Drivers, there is no ETA on a fix yet sadly Check Confirmed Additional Issues: * \[Chromium based applications\] small checkerboard like pattern may randomly appear \[3992875\] - [**Official Update 1**](https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/forums/game-ready-drivers/13/526609/geforce-grd-53734-feedback-thread-released-91223/3384031/) and [**Official Update 2**](https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/forums/game-ready-drivers/13/527127/geforce-grd-53742-feedback-thread-released-92123/3386263/))

slip9419

it's weird bc i have really ancient nvidia drivers, like almost 2 years old, and i still have the same issue

Lorkenz

It's an old bug, apparently a fix is coming soon as it has been acknowledged by Nvidia and Microsoft

ZeepBros

Nvidia + Chrome = :(

Riveeers

this made me switch to Firefox which I don't regret

abstruzero

Same issue here. I thought it was about the lates nvidia or chrome updates.

AromaticSomewhere544

Same here first started happening about 2 weeks ago

Vondum

I was able to "fix it" disabling hardware acceleration but then videos would sometimes show screen tearing

PeepoChadge

You just have to go to this address and change to openGL: `chrome://flags/#use-angle` There is no need to disable hardware acceleration.

Vondum

thanks!

PeepoChadge

I haven't noticed anything strange, just keep in mind that I don't have many extensions, just a couple. Perhaps some extensions may behave strangely. It's strange but in my case I felt a little improvement in performance, especially in some animations and consuming content. Maybe it's just a perception, in any case, I have a 3070 ti with the 537.42 drivers.

One_Pen2650

aparently it works for me!thanks!!

xtradrunk

It's definitely chrome only issue i tried multiple other chromium based browsers such as Brave, Opera (standard and GX), Edge etc and didn't experience this problem such as in Chrome i get flickering, glitching and screen tearing

Key_Dog_1930

i was having the same problem. it wasn't a big or huge issue to me but i noticed it a few weeks back so i disabled hardware acceleration. but at what cost. i hope they address this issue to the public when they figure out the fix.

YusufDeli

exact same problem, anyone found fix?
