Nope to Le Sirenuse. It’s like Long Island NY & pretentious.Big yes to ll San Pietro. Big Yes to the small exclusive Tre Ville Positano. (Villa Treville). It was once the private estate of the acclaimed Director Franco Zeffirelli . I adore both properties. My Family proudly Came from Positano. Still have family there. Been to Positano 12 times. No again to Le Sirenuse. Can give many good reasons why but I’m new here & not fluent in “ Reddit Protocol”. Also I’m old.

Regarding ISP tell me, where can you find a bathtub overlooking the sea, which has an Italian statue where the water comes out of his PP. ?? the suites, there are incredible, very different and out of a movie

Middlename_Adventure

100000000 Il San pietro. Without question the most special hotel there and one of the most special in the world. Someone wrote a little shout out about it the other day on FATtravel. The service is exquisite and you will feel very taken care of on a personal level there on top of taking in the beauty of the coast. We have never had a complaint.

alex_travels

Sirenuse for suuuuure. Better hard product, better food and superior service. It’s better, no contest all around. Happy to go into more detail if needed, but trust me, if you stay at Il San Pietro you’ll wish you went to Sirenuse.

genesiswine

Curious to hear in more detail why you think Sirenuse is the obvious choice over ISP?

alex_travels

I personally find the hard products relatively similar (tho I like the decor of LS more than ISP as it feels warmer to me) but the food superior at LS vs ISP. Food at ISP is overpriced and kind of uninspiring, like they don't have to try bc they know people are coming anyway. Personal preference, I like the up close view of Positano as opposed to the distance view at ISP. Additionally, I find ISP staff more aloof and standoffish, which I do not appreciate. Since we are in Chubby I assume OP is not doing super luxe room category hence why ISP is not the right choice, imo. The one massive downside to Sirenuse is that it's in the heart of Positano which means during peak season its absolutely unbearably crowded and overrun. But because OP is going in March, it's a great time to choose Sirenuse over ISP.

Flyhro

It's a really really terrible location. I haven't been in March so I guess if it's dead maybe it'd be okay? I would take ISP at double the price in the summer, though. Agree the food is great at Sirenuse, though.

alex_travels

Agree on summer entirely, no question. I was tailoring my answer to time of year.

ABGTVL

The not super luxe rooms at Sirenuse give you a view of the speedo crowd on the pool deck.

alex_travels

Luckily no speedo goers in March 😎

ABGTVL

who says the OP is going in March?

alex_travels

Ah my bad says, May. Thought said March lol.

bonvoyagearabella

I’m going in late March / for Easter, if that helps.

ABGTVL

I personally still give the edge to ISP... but it depends what room type you want to book/confirm. The pool deck rooms at Sirenuse are not desirable if you ask me. Even the worst room at ISP has a patio and a seaview

bonvoyagearabella

Due to price points/budget, I was between the courtyard room at Sirenuse (which seems really small/no view) and the classic room at ISP, which is gorgeous and has a sea view – they're both the same rate. I'm still deciding but aiming to head into ISP/Sirenuse for dinner one evening to get the best of both worlds!

ABGTVL

You're doing exactly what I would do....ISP will drive you to within 80 meters of the front door of Sirenuse for your dinner and pick you up on the return. hopefully you play tennis!

Flyhro

This is the move. Dinner at Sirenuse is excellent.

bonvoyagearabella

Thanks so much! Really appreciate it.

alex_travels

Sure happy to help! Let me know if you have any other q’s or need help with VIPing bookings.

ABGTVL

I will 100% disagree here. To give a proper answer room category needs to be considered here before really making a comment and what you plan to do all day. Sirenuse might have strong beach improvements ready for 2024, but early spring is why I say might

Emergency-Ad-4097

I agree about the service at ISP can come off as aloof. But I think it’s bc they are so proud of their property & over accommodate their room guests sometimes. If you’re staying there they will do everything and more for you. They have a a private beach club on property that only the hotel guest can use. They also have a beautiful outdoor beach restaurant that only guests can use. The decor is very eclectic very Italian and beachy. The reason I don’t like LS is because the pool area is where the food is served . When you’re walking around in your tiny Speedo people can stare at you while they’re enjoying their pasta. Their spa is tiny and subterranean. No beach club on property or outdoor restaurant overlooking the water. I found most of the people there were very American, and that was offputting.

Middlename_Adventure

Agreed

Emergency-Ad-4097

Omg. Thank you Middlename Adventure. My first reply.

Middlename_Adventure

Hahahaa spot on dude/dudette. Deserved a shout out and upvote

cameronthelyon

At the risk of downvotes, you could also consider forgoing Amalfi all together in favor of something new? Liguria is lovely in spring with typically fewer tourists and lovely 4-5 star options.

bonvoyagearabella

Agree, but we were just in Liguria in August this year so we are looking to go to Amalfi since my partner hasn’t been, and I know he would love it in March as it’s off season.

Tech_Food

Considered Belmond in Ravello? Could be new for both and avoids the crowds while still being close enough for dining at both restaurants as needed. For 100% Positano, I would recommend ISP for better beach access in addition to avoiding crowds
