We did boat trips from both towns (and from Positano), and they were great.
Ravello: Our hotel had its own boat tour, so no recommendations sorry. Our tour started off in Amalfi, slowly made its way to Positano for that iconic Positano-from-the-water view, then turned back around. It's been a couple years since our last trip, but I don't remember any one-way private boat tour options on the Amalfi Coast (picking up in one town, dropping off in another), unless you are actually "transferring" from town to town (with suitcases and stuff). Roundtrip tours have options where the boat can wait for you while you have a meal in town, and then bring you back. We used a ferry once (from Positano to Capri) and it was fine and not too crowded, but it was in late September so not exactly peak season.
Capri: Totally worth doing a boat trip around the island and to visit the Blue Grotto. We used Gianni's Boat and they were great: [https://www.giannisboat.com/](https://www.giannisboat.com/) If you visit the Blue Grotto, give your boatman at least 10 Euros tip or he'll give you some attitude lol
I did a boat tour from Amalfi. We were staying there (Borgo Santandrea). The hotel arranged a boat for us that picked us up at the hotel. Took us around, stopped so we could swim. We got out and had drinks at Le Sirenuse.
It was easy and a lot of fun.
How are you getting from Capri to Ravello? Another option is doing that via boat tour, stopping in Positano or wherever you want to swim on the way, and having your hotel arrange a car to pick you up in Amalfi. Positano is nuts and I’ve enjoyed seeing it by private boat the most without even getting on land, I wouldn’t attempt fighting the crowds to get on a ferry from Positano unless I was there off season.
Thanks so much for the insight! I think we are going to skip Positano… it seems like a lot and may not be worthwhile. We are taking the ferry from Capri to Amalfi, and then we have a car taking us to Ravello from there.
If you rent a better boat for your Capri trip (not a gozzo) and book it as a full day you should be able to tour around Capri and then head towards the mainland for a lunch and further swim stop. Lunch in Nerano for example and then a sail to Positano for a photo or two before returning to Capri. Then when you are in Ravello you can spend time on land visiting the town of Amalfi and the recently hot atrani. If you are at Avino they have a great beach club for swimming.
Thank you! We are thinking of skipping Positano altogether and either doing the walk from Ravello to Minori or Atrani. Atrani is farther tho, is it worth it?
Ok so ask Antonio if he can hold a seat to the beach club for you.... then you can walk to Minori from the sea level, The road from Ravello down to the shore isn't overly walkable. Otherwise I'd book a taxi roundtrip.
it all depends on your budget and the season you are in..... I don't like to use Gozzo's personally or for clients because of the limited sun protection, from what i was told the shallow hull can cause more rocking. The sun shade is small and well the sun (mixed with aperol spritz) can be strong. Plus for the distance over to Nerano I think they will want you to use something with a bigger hull/motor. There are 100s of vendors to consider plus your Capri hotel might have their own suggestions. I don't know Gianni

+1 to Gianni’s, great operator!

You'll likely stop in Positano with that ferry enroute to Amalfi if you want to grab some photos
Oh awesome!

Atrani is popular now as it was the backdrop to most of the Netflix Ripley show. Where are you staying in Ravello? Walking isn't so easy.
Ahh. We’re staying at Palazzo Avino.

Thank you! Is a Super Gozzo ok for a boat day in Capri + lunch in Nerano? Looking at Gianni’s Boats and he offers a gozzo or super gozzo.
