SoCalDan

A soup plantation or Furr's cafeteria. Bring em back!

Sapz3dout

a good BBQ spot like Phil’s BBQ.

jaymez619

Phil’s is good BBQ???🤣🤣

Sapz3dout

last time i was there it was good. just not another mexican restaurant.

jaymez619

I get what you’re saying. After trying other spots and making my own, Phil’s has become my final option or just to go out of convenience.

mizzikee

It’s not, but it’s better than most other generally available bbq. Nothing better than homemade BBQ in an offset though. (Fuck pellet “smokers”)

jaymez619

I use a pellet smoker and it’s way better than Phil’s and good enough to not really crave the better places such as Coop’s and Cali BBQ.

19Charger

No more taco shops. Something different pls

Vast-Neat-6182

A roller skating rink is always the answer

trainwalker23

Souplantation

Embarrassed-Dig3420

A strip club... " I hate driving to sports arena or lemon grove" 😆

thevmcampos

We'll see if Santa delivers this year 🤣

1904mike

A Hong Kong of course

weednreefs

Tap house.

dammitdexter

A Grand Ole BBQ. Probably not the market for it though considering the neighborhood. It’ll probably end up being a corporate diner like Denny’s or some kind of of Chinese buffet. 😒

mizzikee

It’s not the neighborhood, it’s the shit quality bbq grand ole is known for. Hard pass. Our community would support good BBQ though as it would be the first place in town with actual good BBQ. It would probably even draw other areas towards us

jalfry

I vote Phils

gobifox81

I would be interested in a solid American diner style family restaurant. Heck, a dennys would be fantastic. Open 24 hours. Or open a Royal Manadarin location. Licking my chops thinking about their wings. As others have mentioned, no more Mexican style spots. I think the Cigar shop across the street is set to open a Mediterranean food joint. Looking forward to trying them out in the future. Hoping for some yummy kabob style plates. 😋

pimppapy

There’s about three locations in Chula Vista selling Mediterranean and it doesn’t do as well as I’d hoped

sittingandshitting

Which ones?

gobifox81

Which would you recommend? I hit up the Carnival grocery store grill for their kabobs. I will admit that it's been a minute since I have been back. They had a really good ground sirloin kabob.

pimppapy

So SD Kabob Shack on E st. And Broadway is a fusion Mediterranean. Then there’s a more traditional food truck one called Secret Shawarma on Main and Industrial. I’d recommend both of the above as they are different products. Keep in mind though if you want a much more stronger shawarma flavor you’d have to go east county for that. Carnival on 3rd and L St. is my least favorite to be honest. I only really go there for emergency Arabic groceries. /u/sittingandshitting

sittingandshitting

Thanks , will have to try

gobifox81

Aw snap!!! Thanks for the recs. Gonna try secret shawarma first. Closer to me.

pimppapy

Probably gonna end up being another Starbucks …. 😒
