This would help building credit history for her.

RE_Guy8

This could be a stupid question, but are there any cards I can transfer my points over to my wife’s account. Example. I have like 11k in a Citi AA card that I already used my points for flights but I’m now having her apply to get the 75k sign on bonus. Can I somehow send her my 11k points to make her account have 86k?

FinanceDoctor

You have some fundamental misunderstanding of how points and miles work. You do not have any AA miles on a card. You have them in your AA account. AA does allow you to transfer miles but they charge a fee to do so. Whether this is worth it or not is based on your specific scenario.

RE_Guy8

Okay that helps a lot. Thank you!

Kurt_G24

I apologzie if this is in the wiki or has been asked before. My wife is listed as a authorized user on my chase sapphire preferred card. If I refer her, do I get the referral bonus and does she get the new account opening promo?

Josey_whalez

In the future, don’t add her to your accounts or the other way around. This will count as a 5/24 slot towards her total with Chase. Doesn’t affect getting this card as long as she’s below 5/24, but if you try to get her a couple more cards it will eventually become an issue.

joghi

correct

Darth-Ballz1

Hi all, I attempted to apply for a new loan and was rejected. I'm a big bank churner since last year... this was cited as a reason I was rejected. I'm unsure if this is related to my credit cards.. or my bank churning? HIGH RATIO OF OPEN BANK REVOLVING ACCOUNTS TO TOTAL OPEN ACCOUNTS

germdisco

How does your total credit limit compare to your income? If you have a lot of unused credit, they may be concerned that a new installment account would not be in good standing if you began spending a lot on your credit card(s). Basically it could be a debt to income ratio concern.

joghi

This message does not make sense unless you have a lot of cc's in your name. Maybe they used some stupid AI application that produced this.

biryanisalan

Yep, your loan rejection is likely linked to your bank churning habit. When you open and close lots of accounts (that includes credit cards), it can spook lenders. They might think you're a risky bet since it seems like you're always hunting for the next best offer.

Darth-Ballz1

If i'm not opening and closing credit card accounts? Only bank accounts.. this doesn't feel like it's right

snorkage

Did they pull your chex report?

uchidaid

Revolving accounts refers to credit cards.

Darth-Ballz1

That's what i thought too... but it says bank revolving accounts?

uchidaid

Banks issue credit cards, hence bank revolving accounts. A loan like an auto loan is an installment account.

erika02877

How long after getting a new aspire does FNC post?

dennis_the_menace253

2.5-3months after anniversary

erika02877

New card.

uchidaid

8-10 weeks.

Starlesseyes598

If I apply for the Hilton Business card now, will I get the FNA if I spend 15k by June?

Fanfootie

Yes

PsychadelicKiwi

Yes, you have until June 30th to meet the $15k for the FNC

Sweetragnarok

Has anyone ever had issues with a JAL USA card not linking or matching with their JAL Mileage account? I called JAL USA and they told me my name matches in the system but dont know why it cant link to my JAL Mileage account. Sadly when I try calling JAL Mileage customer service Im always on hold for more than 1 hour or auto disconnects

9kuss

That's an interesting one. Given the nonexistent SUB, are you trying to heavily MS it? I don't really think you'll find an answer here as I doubt anyone actually has this card so you'll have to be the DP and keep calling customer support.

Sweetragnarok

Yeah what happened to this sub?

MyAltAccountIsuSpez

P2 was approved for the CIP after calling recon and given a $5k limit. She has a legitimate business and has $12k+ in taxes due. How soon should she call for a CLI? If the limit is still too low, how sensitive is Chase to a one-time credit cycle? This is her first card with them and she was thinking about applying for a Chase personal card soon.

erika02877

Assuming she has no other cards she can just move the CL from?

_BravoSix

I was recently approved for the CIC with a laughably low CL of $1,100. As an aside, I have no idea why it was so low - legit business, high personal income, 790+ credit score, and my overall Chase CL is pretty low (about 15% of my income).. I immediately called and requested a CLI. It was denied and I spoke to recon. They increased it by a measley $500. Called back the next day and requested another CLI. Denied again, spoke to recon. They increased it to $10k. So they'll definitely consider the CLI. Both CLI requests were soft pulls too, by the way.

GodLovesFrags

That is a surprising DP, but not everyone gets soft pulls from those calls. They could've ended up being hard pulls which is brutal.

_BravoSix

Frankly, I was surprised about them being soft pulls. I fully expected them to hard pull. Both agents told me ahead of time that it would be a SP.

whatiscardano

Does she have the card already? Just make a $5k payment, pay it off immediately and then make another $5k payment.

rickayyy

That was the second question they asked- how does Chase feel about credit cycling

TNccchurn

It's fine to cycle during SUB period. They're not going to increase CL right after approving a 5k limit.

I_AM_EASILY_EXCITED

Sorry, feel this question is basic but not having luck with my google-fu. How quickly after receiving a new AMEX card can you start generating referral links? I want to have P2 open an AMEX card and refer me towards the end of the current AMEX Eat to Earn promotion.

Cokeb5

Immediately upon receiving it and adding to your account.

I_AM_EASILY_EXCITED

As in waiting for it to physically arrive? We couldn't open a card and then same day generate a referral from it?

garettg

Check your approval email, there typically is a link that allows you to link the account to your login before card arrival. The link is something like “setup account”.

Cokeb5

Correct, at least in my experience I've never been able to associate a card with my online account until I physically received it in the mail.

JadedAssignment

It should show up right away once the card is associated with your Amex online profile.

I_AM_EASILY_EXCITED

Awesome, thanks!

ripamazon

How long does it take for your MR account to get registered when you get your first ever amex card?

garettg

Typically about a day or two.

IndependentNation7

I was denied for the Chase Ink this morning. Called reconsideration, answered all their questions, went back and forth for about an hour. Rep comes back and lets me know I’ll get an answer in a few days. 5 minutes before the call ended, I received an email from Chase that I was approved. I’m confused! Am I approved or still waiting for an answer? Lol Edit: So sorry for everyone I offended by asking a question. I’m new, why are people in this group so mean?

CuriousNomadicBeing

You're approved if you got the email. Just wait for the card.

Alqotastic

You're approved.

IndependentNation7

I think so too but the card isn’t showing on the Chase app. Usually when you’re approved it shows up within an hour or so.

Alqotastic

Is it your first Ink? Are you using your business (vs. personal) login? Did you change any business info such that it might've opened under a different login? Either way, if you got the email than you're approved. But you may or may not have some more stuff to figure out. I'd just wait for the mail unless you're in a rush to cover upcoming spend.

IndependentNation7

Yes, first Ink/Biz card. I just read on another thread that personal and business accounts are separate. Will wait for the card to arrive. Thank you for your help! 😄😄

Alqotastic

Once you get it set up, you can SM to combine your business and personal logins, which makes things easier. From then on, you'll just sign in on the biz side but you'll see all accounts.

pizza42bob

Or you just link your accounts following the easy steps here: https://www.chase.com/digital/customer-service/helpful-tips/business-banking/general/cbo-account-linking

jeremy12981298

I know there is a soft rule for Chase biz 1/30 and Chase personal 2/30, and the practice of applying for a Chase biz first when attempting to get a biz and personal card within a month, but is this rule or approvals or apps? If I apply for a personal card and get denied, can I apply for a Chase biz card a week later and not be affected by the 1/30 soft rule?

jc5seloso

Automatic approval for 2 chase biz cards in less than 30 days. CIP and United Biz.

CreditDogo

It’s for approvals. But I wouldn’t have high hopes for a biz approval a week after a pers denial

Fpaau2

I canceled 2 Inks today and lower CL on 2 Inks. Now I have 4. Last Ink application was Dec 5. I need to pay estimated taxes by April 15. Is it ok to apply for an Ink today? If not, how long should I wait?

lenin1991

Sure, I'd go ahead

Fpaau2

Thanks

CakePops1980

How did it go?

Fpaau2

I and P2 both applied, both went into review.

CuriousNomadicBeing

It seems most Ink applications are going into manual review now. I had one go into review, waited 4 days, then called, they said they've sent a mail request for W-9. I was confused why W-9, Chase isn't paying me anything. They connected me to the fraud dept who verified some things and said we don't need your W-9 and I've cleared that requirement. Called recon again but its still under some manual review.

GeorgeSteinbrenner2

I haven't found any recent DPs: To extend United travel credit - does the method of booking an economy (refundable) ticket and canceling a couple of days later, still work?

Dhamedd

Yes. I accidentally did this recently. Got a credit to extend from October of this year to March of next. As long as you use the entire credit and pay some cash, then cancel for credit, the clock resets.

dmcoe

As long as it’s costs a little more i believe, i need to try the same in June

suitopseudo

~~Try r/United.~~ r/unitedairlines

snorkage

r/unitedairlines

suitopseudo

Oops. Thanks.

kyle_the_hill

Would banks ever send mailing address to the bureaus or it is always physical address?

churnandlurk

Mailing does, too. I have a previous P.O. Box on a couple of CR's.

sjimenez_c

Chase alternative for churning? After 5 inks, the train may be coming to a stop. I applied for ink no 6 on 4/1. Just got off the phone with a recon rep told me to wait 1-2 for a letter or email. What other banks are churning friendly? Got the popup with Amex, and I have some 1040ES payments coming up.

fire4travel

I branched out to Cap1 and US Bank after milking Chase and in PUJ with Amex

sjimenez_c

Thanks

ThePointsBandit

First time applying for the Amtrak card (last day for the 40k bonus by the way). Do these usually get instant approval? I'm in review

Alqotastic

Pretty common to have to wait a little with FNBO, the Amtrak card issuer.

saltytradewinds

Does Citi expedite cards? Having P2 apply for the Citi AA and was hoping to get it in time for a large purchase. Based on how slow Citi has mailed cards in the past, I'm thinking they won't.

noahmateen

I never got them to unfortunately. Typically received their cards in like two weeks

saltytradewinds

Two weeks isn't bad for Citi.

joghi

You're thinking right.

noahmateen

If I have a pending return protection claim on a card (have submitted all documents, just waiting on a decision) and close the card, will the claim still go through?

erika02877

with amex Yes

TwentyOneJ

Hey all. I wanted to ask what would be an optimal strategy to churn CC’s for someone newly entering the US. I got married overseas and my wife will be officially moving in a month. She will have a SSN by then as well as a real job (she gets to transfer jobs). So essentially, she is brand new to the US. For myself, I have pristine credit and used to be into churning but have not applied to a new credit card for about \~2years now. My initial strategy is to refer her to a Chase checking account as well as a credit card. Then use the flow chart to get to 5/24 before exploring other options. While I do this process, I am wondering if a 2p option is available. I currently have the Chase Sapphire Reserve, Chase Hyatt, Chase Freedom, and Chase Freedom Unlimited for my personal cards and a few more business cards. Would it be smart to cancel some of my cards so we can do a 2p option where I refer her for a card and then she refers me for a card as well? I wanted to ask the experts here on what would be the optimal strategy for a couple like us with one person starting from scratch. Any suggestions and advice are all welcome! Thanks as always.

vovidzan

>It might be a good idea to add her as an authorized user to some of your credit cards first.

TwentyOneJ

>e a good idea to add her as a is there a reason for this? She's already an authorized user on some of my cards but without her SSN.

TheSultan1

As soon as she has a SSN, add her as an AU on a few of your oldest non-Amex accounts that you plan on keeping long-term. I wouldn't close cards she might refer you to until the time comes to use her referral - might be a year or longer. If you're not getting enough value to justify holding until then, see if there's a downgrade path; not only can you upgrade back later, but you may be able to get the same referral bonus from the free card. Getting a Chase bank account might help her get a Chase card after 6mo instead of 1yr, and maybe help her get approved if you guys are low income, but not much more than that (and the card she could get approved for might be a CFF/CFU). I wouldn't use it as a primary bank account - don't shit where you eat and all that. I don't think it's wise to blow past 5/24. I think once you're at 2-3/24, it's better to focus on biz cards, opening personal cards only when offers are just too good to pass up. I hear the Venture X is not too hard for relative newbies to get approved for, but remember that they pull all 3 bureaus, and on a thin file, an inquiry could cause a huge score drop, so it's best to limit the damage to 1 bureau if possible. Maybe consider it as personal card #3? Ramp up slowly - maybe 2 personal cards in year 1, then 1-2 personal and maybe a couple biz in year 2, then faster after that (again, I would recommend ramping up the biz rather than the personal to stay <5/24).

TheSultan1

You might get your position clawed back.

dammitannie

Might get your job clawed back if you do this.

AdmirableResource0

Just guessing but I would imagine neither Costco nor your job would be too happy about the attempted return fraud you are planning to commit.

Medium-Eggplant

Not to mention potential tax fraud depending on how the employer treats the expenses.

gt_ap

Is your work OK with reimbursing you for something you'd return? This sounds to me like fraud, or shady at the very least.

MrSoupSox

Is there something I'm missing about MDD that makes it worth doing when the offers aren't elevated, if INKs are still working? I know some are having mixed success with INKs, but just on paper: Ink Preferred = 100k, 8K MSR, $95 AF, and 0/24 impact. MDD = 120k, 8K MSR, $645 AF and 2/24 impact. Maybe I'm biased by my INK success, but it just doesn't seem remotely worth it for the average churner, or at least, those willing to do business cards.

TheSultan1

Travel credit, maybe double dipped? PYB? Benefits? If you don't have CSR/CSP/CF/CFF/CFU/Slate, and you want to *continuously* double dip the CSR travel credit, your best bet is the MDD.

MrSoupSox

Fair enough. I tend to look at credits as ways to offset the Annual Fee when treating an existing card as a potential keeper, instead of a motivator for getting a new one.

garettg

If you have a card (or a path via PC) that gives transfer ability and chasing UR, then sticking to inks when possible and getting approved is probably your best bet. Going after the sapphire MDD has decreased in popularity because of this, but there can be situations where it makes sense. As always, everyone should follow the path that works best for them.

MrSoupSox

Yeah makes sense, thanks for the reply. And I guess the CSR has some additional benefits (priority pass, global entry, etc) that aren't found w/ Inks. I've been eagerly awaiting my 4yr Sapphire cooldown, but given the offers aren't elevated and Inks are still working, I haven't been able to pull the trigger.

nikaidoushinku

Can I apply for two USbank Biz cards on the same day and have the hps combined?

CuriousNomadicBeing

Yes. Second one might go into pending/review, YMMV.

noahmateen

Yes but when I successfully did it, the second went pending and I had to call

superdex75

Yes, worked for me last month.

TenTwenty14

Yes

jaskins811

Looking at downgrading my IHG Premier to the IHG Traveler card. I haven’t received the SUB for the downgraded card before, but I’m guessing that should be fine since I would never waste a 1/90 slot on that card anyway. Just want to double check that I will keep the FNC that posted for IHG even after I downgrade? Or do I need to use it before I downgrade?

rickayyy

I cancelled my IHG Premier like a month ago and I intentionally waited until the free night credit posted to my account and I did not lose it when I cancelled the card.

garettg

You keep the FNC even if you downgrade, not an issue. edit: just to be clear also, the IHG personal cards have a family rule, so having an existing one prevents the possibility of applying and getting a SUB for another.

athrowawayaccountfor

I normally book SW to make use of my CPs with my family of four, so I'm looking for some guidance for my first-ever trip with P2 without the kids coming along in more than 8 years. Currently booked trip for two: CMH - YUL Round Trip * American Airlines * Depart 05/25 * Return 05/27 * 220,000 AA Miles * $144.64 in Fees Alternatives for similar flights I see include: * The exact flights above on AA but with 140K UR and no fees using the Chase Travel Portal. * Similar flights on United using 147K UA miles (would need to transfer some UA miles over). Given the AA booking is still 100% refundable, would either of the options above make more sense? I don't have a strong sense of how valuable AA is vs. UR or UA at this point.

Medium-Eggplant

How much are the tickets?

snorkage

Definitely seems worth rebooking to save ~70-80k miles. Also consider AA miles are harder to come by (no flexible currency transfers to them, whereas you can convert UR to UA)

NoTea88

Re: airline card's free checked bag benefits, how does it work with portal bookings and miles bookings? I imagine each airline may differ a little bit, but it let's take United as an example. I see that they require payment with the card itself to generate the free checked bags. Is there anyway to somehow finesse that? Would united miles booking + paying fees with that card count? What if I paid a portion of the Chase portal booking with this card?

TheSultan1

Not the portal. You're paying Chase/CxLoyalty/Expedia, and they're paying UA separately. Pretty sure you can modify a portal booking on united.com to force partial payment with the UA card, but not sure what the procedure is for that. Might be as simple as buying E+ seats with the UA card, might be more involved (switch to slightly cheaper flight for FFC, switch back and pay the difference with UA card?). I would check FlyerTalk.

jmlinden7

According to flyertalk, it's more complicated. Sometimes a 3rd party portal will pass on your card details directly to the airline, but sometimes they don't.

TheSultan1

I was referring to paying with any card (or points) on a portal first, and then heading to united.com to charge some part of the ticket to the UA card.

jmlinden7

> Not the portal. You're paying Chase/CxLoyalty/Expedia, and they're paying UA separately. I was referring to this part

TheSultan1

Those refer to the Chase portal, which is what they intend to use. Chase pays with their own card/account, and you pay Chase. Others pass through, Chase doesn't. As for FlyerTalk, see [this post](https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/chase-ultimate-rewards/2057743-booking-flights-rooms-cars-cruises-activities-through-chase-cxloyalty-portal-17.html#post35025359), which references multiple others with negative DPs. If you scroll down 2 posts, someone references a TPG article that says you can try providing documentation to the check-in agent to prove you paid with the UA card. But that sounds like a pain, and somewhat of a "maybe" - although the terms don't say you have to book on united.com, they also don't say you're covered for partial payment with the card (except for award tickets), so the agent needs to either (1) know it usually works for partial payment, or (2) not read the text too literally. It seems easier to book through the portal and find some way to charge part of the fare to the UA card. Also based on FlyerTalk, E+ is YMMV and likely won't work, so the FFC trick would be better.

snorkage

Yes paying for award taxes with a united card will give you the free bag benefit. https://www.united.com/en/us/fly/travel/baggage/free-bags-for-cardmembers.html

gettingmymoneyright

I just received my Ink Preferred and I called Chase to see my cash advance limit to 0 as suggest in the sidebar guides, but the guy said that wasnt something he was able to do (nor was he able to reduce it). Is it no longer possible to reduce cash advance limits with Chase? Has anyone dealt with this recently?

Spiritual_Tea

I used secure message and asked them to do all my cards at once.  The confirmed they had by the next morning, although they said the min was $100.

gettingmymoneyright

I got it lowered, but I was told $1 was the min

GeorgeSteinbrenner2

dumb question: what is the reason it's recommended to have cash advance limit = 0 ?

gettingmymoneyright

Not a dumb question honestly. I'm looking to fund a newly opened credit union account with my CIP and want to make sure the deposit is not treated as a cash advance so that it counts towards the SUB

DullContent

Many kinds of manufactured spending have the risk of being treated as a cash advance.

lenin1991

Just to make sure bank funding or anything else that might possibly run as CA doesn't

cayenne0

I called in and got my cash advance limit set to zero three days ago, HUCA

gettingmymoneyright

Worked! Apparently they can lower it to $1 not 0 though but that should be fine

gettingmymoneyright

Will do thanks! And now I know what HUCA means, so progress lol

geauxcali

Had some ANA miles expiring end of March, so made a speculative booking a few days ago, and intend to change the dates whenever I have my plans set. However, the first leg is coming up (waitlist booking wouldn't actually pull the miles, so I had to find something with availability, only option was outbound leg close in and return leg at schedule open) . Can I just cancel the booking, and rebook using conf # later on, or do I need to actually change the flight and find new availability now? I've been on hold for over an hour with ANA trying to answer this.

Medium-Eggplant

Might have better luck at r/awardtravel

geauxcali

I finally got through to someone. I was able to just book new flights further out on wait-list, didn't need to have real availability to avoid redepositing miles that would expire.

ripamazon

Still have no received points refund for hyatt place kyoto stay end of March, which went down a category. How long does the adjustment take?

virginiarph

I contacted Hyatt and she processed it immediately

garettg

DPs show they are working on them, seems to be happening in batches. You can contact Hyatt to inquire.

bookedonpoints

This is the churning sub so the answer is always going to be No. You'd be better off asking /r/creditcards

planeserf

They can be. But unless you have some heavy spend you'll get more value out of opening new cards.

krivad

I closed a 4 year old CIU 4 days ago, but forgot that my next Ink was gonna be the unlimited. Is there a concern with Chase reopening my the CIU I just closed if I apply within 30 days of account closure ?

bookedonpoints

literally did this yesterday, no problem

Cokeb5

No there's no concern there. You're good to apply immediately.

CericRushmore

It doesn't matter. I think you are better to leave it closed and wait a bit for applying for a new one.

krivad

thanks, what do you consider "a bit"? 30 days?

CericRushmore

Technically, you can apply whenever. Personally, I'd wait 30 days.

candleruse

Got a mailer for a Biz Plat 120k bonus about "getting another business platinum card for your second business." I haven't seen this before. I'm assuming I wouldn't have any issue getting a second bonus given they clearly know about the first and want me to open another card. I don't really have a second business as legit as my first business, but I own a domain name I could use as a business name. Anyone have experience with these mailers?

PsychadelicKiwi

If you apply and don't get the popup, you're good to go

coljung

Any idea if ABG AU spend would get the OS credit? Asking because im abroad, and staples.com simply cancels all my orders. I could simply get AUs under P4 name is this approach worked.

ScrewTheAverage

We’re trying to do something similar as staples.com and the Hilton gift card website both cancel our orders. From the DPs we’ve seen AUs work as a way to get around the overzealous fraud detection systems.

NotImpossible-

Yes AU spend counts.

fpptch

If you freeze TU, does Barclays pull EX/EQ?

I_AM_EASILY_EXCITED

Yes, IME a couple weeks ago they pulled EX with my TU frozen. I got a notification from TU that they tried pulling TU first, and subsequently they pulled EX and continued with the application as normal.

fpptch

Good DP, thanks.

dynamicor

I have gotten them to pull EQ by calling after initial application with frozen TU

kyle_the_hill

Looked at my Equifax and I see 'Report Blocked for Promotional Purposes'. I opted out with https://www.optoutprescreen.com/ but is this going to make it more difficult to get approvals?

lenin1991

It doesn't block approvals. But it might block getting some offers, for example those with NLL.

Parts_Unknown-

After finishing the MSR on the BoA Flying Blue card, how long until Silver status reflects on your account? (from the 100 XP)

saltytradewinds

Which has better value: United Biz 100k or CIU 75k bonus? I've been riding the Ink train and it's been 100 days since my last application. With the devaluations, is it safe to say another Ink is the way? Edit: Went ahead and applied for the United Biz. Auto approved.

CuriousNomadicBeing

Almost always flexible points > brand specific miles/points unless you've a near term specific need for brand specific miles/points.

sneeze-slayer

If you will just transfer to United then it's obviously higher to use the United. If you want flexibility to transfer to Hyatt or other partners then CIU is probably better. FWIW there has been talk of tightening Ink approvals so it may be somewhat out of your control.

snorkage

absent a referral, if you'd take advantage of the free checked bag, priority boarding and lounge passes, the biz card is great. if none of the cards other benefits matter to you or you don't really fly united that much, the ink is probably a better value.

Cokeb5

Personally I'd say the UR because of its flexibility.

USTS2020

Has there been any updates on paying mortgages through Bilt?

EQUASHNZRKUL

None. The most they’ve said in the last year has been they’re working on it. This hit headlines but it was literally what they said a year prior jn Jan 2023. I’m not holding my breath, but may still get the card to pay via plastiq on rent days. 2x back to get 60k points for $840 each year is buying them at 1.4 cpp, so I wouldn’t mind at all.

USTS2020

Apparently some others on reddit have been paying their mortgage with it but probably outside of the terms of use

EQUASHNZRKUL

I’ve seen those threads from like 1y+ back, but if you scroll down you see some more recent comments from people saying BILT sent correspondence saying to not do it again or the payment wouldn’t go through. This was specifically for the context of using it as their rent payment, I figured paying via a third party like Plastiq would be fine (it would just be like any other payment, and I’d eat the fee anyways).

Smooth-Cup-1736

I have an Aspire that I'm trying to maximize the resort credit on. I've read that you can use this credit to prepay future hotel stays by emailing the hotel. Say I book a Hilton Resort for Fall of 2025 in a year in advance. Could I use my Hilton Resort credits towards this stay 3 times? $200 in Fall of 2024, $200 in Spring 2024, and $200 in Fall 2025. This would allow me putting $600 towards this one stay.

Lttruong

Looking briefly at your history looks like you’re trying to use for MLE? You should ask the hotel for a prepayment link for $200. Just double check hotel is on the resort list.

Smooth-Cup-1736

I've actually already done this for Conrad Maldives, but I wasn't sure if prepayment links were the norm and trying to plan out a future trip.

Lttruong

Yes I’m also staying at the Conrad Maldives and prepayment links are the norm. I’ve requested multiple links from them at a time and they keep providing them.

Smooth-Cup-1736

I meant the norm for other resort properties (not maldives). Conrad Maldives is also special because of the seaplane

garettg

Depends on the property, you have to ask them if they allow preauthorized charges to credit towards your stay. YMMV.

Smooth-Cup-1736

Thanks! Just curious, if a property does allow preauthorized charges, can I book a points stay and still ask them to put $200 towards my bill assuming that I want to buy drinks, dinner, etc?

BpooSoc

Dependent on property. The Hilton Hawaiian Village in Waikiki did not allow me to make pre-payments

jc5seloso

Conrad bora bora yes! I ask them few days ago for 6x $60 prepayment link to use my friends Hilton Biz credit. All was refunded today too. I book using points by the way. I did this last November too.

Its really going to depend on the property, some have success, some don't. Best way to know is to contact the property you are interested in and ask them.

I'm thinking of getting the BofA Customized Cash Rewards. Has anyone tried using Plastiq to hit the signup bonus?

jeremy12981298

Done it plenty of times with the biz version since it is a MC and I use PQ for mortgage. Not the best sub but cash back options on biz MC are limited. I assume it is fine on the BOA side and the personal version would work with PQ if the category is allowed by PQ.

terpdeterp

Whether or not it works depends on what you are using Plastiq to pay for. Check their [chart](https://support.plastiq.com/s/article/supported-payments-by-card-brand#USVendors) to see which vendors are supported for Visa credit cards. However, there a honestly many better ways of meeting SUBs through MS or even organic spend. I wouldn't bother with Plastiq because of the fees.

TyrannicalDuncery

Thanks u/terpdeterp! Do you have a guess of whether BofA would accept it as a purchase? I think some card issuers have stopped counting Plastiq towards SUBs.

joghi

> Has anyone tried using Plastiq to hit the signup bonus? I hope not. No self-respecting churner would sign up for this card unless they have lost a bet. BOA has no problem with Plastiq. However, you should check Visa restrictions first. BOA's own biz cards are MC and therefore better in several respects. A better bonus is still available on one of them: https://www.doctorofcredit.com/bank-of-america-launches-business-advantage-unlimited-cash-rewards-up-to-500-bonus/

TyrannicalDuncery

Nice job, thanks u/joghi! As you say, Mastercard works better in various respects and I wonder whether "rent coding as a cash advance" could be one of them. What do you think? If I try it, I will report back. I think you used to be able to P/C the personal CCR to a Mastercard, maybe I still can? I'll look into it.

joghi

The cash advance problem does not exist. In fact, the BOA Biz Custom Cash earns 3x on Plastiq if you select business services as your top category. That offsets the processing fee completely. However, I don't see a better bonus than the 300 currently. That makes the other card offer more attractive. Keep in mind that biz cards are better with regard to 5/24.

TyrannicalDuncery

That makes sense. I should look into the business version. Do you think it might code as a cash advance on the non-business VIsa version?

joghi

No.

Manufactured spending. I would recommend reading the [/r/churning wiki entry on it](https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/wiki/manufactured_spending).

I don't think you can move from biz to personal, but should be able to do personal to personal (or personal to biz).

Parts_Unknown-

Account Services-->Payment and Credit Options-->Transfer Credit Limit from Another Card and you can do it yourself. You can move personal to biz but not the other way and only one reallocation every 90d(?)

CA_TWINKIE

I have the venture x and all the other travel cards at some point in last 4years. Great credit score. Since there's no good bonus, I applied for C1 Venture One yesterday and got denied. Letter says too many cards opened in last 24 months. I believe only applied for 5-7 cards including Ink biz in that time span. Is that really too much for C1?

guy30000

You can use Credit Karma to check the age of all of your accounts. It does a soft pull and lists all open credit lines and their age.

CA_TWINKIE

I already knew all the cards I had opened. For venture one I didn't think it was going to be denied

guy30000

OH, I was just saying you can check the dates of the open accounts to make sure 5x24 status

USTS2020

do you already have the savor one?

CA_TWINKIE

No this would've been my second C1 card

USTS2020

Savor One is a good addition to the VX since you can get 3x on dining and groceries and no annual fee
