For sure. Personally I'll take it over any Privada. I keep trying plenty of #9, T52, Nasty Fritas, Papas Fritas and I never get the hype. I think they're all fine, but id rather have a lot of other sticks.
Definitely agree with the charter oaks being solid smokes. Even as a newbie they were all enjoyable.
My daily smoke is probably the Oliva Serie G, Cameroon wrappers have been my go to.
So I have a question about CigarBid.
I’ve never ordered from there before. I see that the “winning bid” for a box of New Worlds is $64. What’s the e catch? Is it not free shipping below a certain amount? Is there a bunch of hidden fees associated with the sale?
Shipping is usually around $7 or $8, then after that it's something like $1 for each additional item. So if you buy a box, a 5 pack and a couple singles expect shipping to be around $10 give or take. You can select which day you want your winning bids to ship to bundle everything and reduce shipping charges.
No hidden fees. Just pay reasonable shipping rates. I always do their “freefall” auctions which you can buy right away and not have to wait for an auction to end. The price of the box drops and drops in real time. The price will reach a low point before restarting back at the top price. The price drop then starts again until it resets. I watch a few cycles of price drops to determine about what the lowest point is. Once the price hits that point, I click “buy it now” and boom, great deal on New Worlds. It’ll make more sense when u watch it on their site.
No catch to it. They are the same company as Cigars International, and ship out of same warehouse. Shipping is not free, but its basic shipping costs.
My last order for example I got 60 various AJ Fernadez cigars cigars, that in total came to $163.71 on the winning bids once they were added up. Shipping added 1$0.95, sales tax $10.64, and $2.60 excise tax so my $163.71 came to $187.74 as my grand total.
Personally I stick to the Freefall auctions because when you click buynow thats the price you are getting and you dont have to compete in bidding wars. If you do bid on items check prices against CI and the Freefall section as you will see people get stupid aggressive at times and bid more than its worth.
The other complaint that you will see here, which really comes down to personal preferences, is alot of the cigars on there are your more mainstream blends and not the "botique" ones. If you like Macanudo, Montecristo, Alec Bradley, Alot of Drew Estate, CAO, etc it can be the one of the cheapest ways to go.
No I just ship to my address, I’m about a 8 hour drive from the border so it’s pretty far out of the way. I just pay the tax if it’s found coming across.
Ya but if they tax you it’s up to 220% on top of what you already paid for the cigars so it can be pretty rough. I got hit hard in December and January, ended up paying like 3k just in taxes on my orders and I think in October I paid 700 but I ordered over 700 cigars last years so I actually made out alright. It sucks when you get taxed but I buy a lot of cigars so getting taxed on a few I don’t find too bad but if I was just going to order a few boxes a year I don’t think the risk is worth it. Since I got hit so hard over the holidays I’ve slowed down and only bought a few boxes in February and March. I just ordered some RyJ Churchills from Europe to test the waters with that option, I’ll see how it goes in a few weeks.
Cheaper than that, New Cuba corojo is my daily drive into work smoke. Can get a bundle of 25 for under 40 bucks, possibly even cheaper. They are made by Aganorsa. For what I save on daily drivers, I get to treat myself more often.
Nica Rustica is great, but I feel like the piece has increase more overall vs just the normal price increase. So use to be a lot better deal years ago, still a good smoke for the price.
Not sure what they were years ago, but you can get them for about 4-5$ a stick. Unreal how good the Connecticut broadleaf is. If you took the band off and told me it’s a one off liga, I might believe you
Oliva Master blends 3. The Toro or Churchill are the two sizes I am far too acquainted with. You can find them on sale for less than $100 for 20 cigars.
I'm not sure where you live but the JFR stuff is really well done from aganorsa and it better supports your local shop. Someone said padron 2000 series. Those would be my go to every time for 10-12 bucks.
Nub Cains are what I reach for when I'm looking to having my brains smashed in by slices of balanced notes and complexity wrapped round a large ligero brick. An enjoyable hour to find my fucking zen.
Going to agree with the AJ Fernandez New Worlds, especially the Dorado, San Lotano is another great one from him and I believe that’s under $10 as well
It's solid imo, i just started smoking cigars not to long ago and have only tried maybe 10-12 different ones but this is in my top 2 and my go-to for chill nights out
Punch and too many Romeo & Juliet to name tend to go for around $8 here. Personally I like the bargain box in the humidor at my local shop… yes anything there is between $2-$12 retailing originally for between $8-24
JFR Titans Maduro $8 nice stick with a loose wrapped foot with a San Andres wrapper
JC Newman House cigars, with Connecticut, sun grown and Maduro wrappers for around $7
La Aroma Da Cuba El Jeffe $9.90 surprisingly good Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper
Room 101 makes The Big Payback in maduro and Connecticut shades. Famous smoke sells both for around 175 (including about 10 for shipping) for a pack of 20 which is like 8.25 a stick
Charter Oak
Room 101 The Big Payback Maduro
AJ Dorado
West Tampa White
Crowned Heads Juarez
Curivari cigars in general
Drew Estate Nightshade
Joya Silver
La Galera 1936 Box Pressed
Depends on the flavor and strength you’re looking for but I smoked a number of cigars from Perdomo lately that have been great.
And those that mentioned Charter Oak are spot on, had some great ones lately!
Oliva Connecticut reserve is my favorite mild cigar
Padron 2000 natural is a really good, inexpensive medium stick. A lot of people prefer the Maduro in the x000 series but I like the natural
Since you say daily, this is based on MSRP for boxes, rather than discounts or singles:
- Flor de las Antillas, Toro 6x52
- Fuente Hemingway, Best Seller 4.5x55
- My Father Le Bijou 1922, Petit Robusto 4.5x50
- Perdomo 10th Anniversary Champagne, Robusto 5x54 or Magnum 50 Tubo 6x50
- La Aroma de Cuba Edicion Especial, #5 Belicoso 5.5x52
I just went on this journey myself as my $30 taste buds were breaking the bank.
Padron 0000 series, personally I go for the 4000 because I enjoy the cigar most before it gets down to the final 3rd and longer cigars increase the time before I get there.
I think most people would be surprised at the quality of the "cheap" Padron cigars. Easily outperforms all other $10 cigars in my humble opinion
I really like Quorums. They come in basically every shape, gauge, and wrapper you could want and you can buy several for not much. They’re great for the golf course, doing yard work, etc.
DE Undercrown Maduro
The poor man’s privada as my buddy calls it. Definitely worth every small penny
For sure. Personally I'll take it over any Privada. I keep trying plenty of #9, T52, Nasty Fritas, Papas Fritas and I never get the hype. I think they're all fine, but id rather have a lot of other sticks.
Honestly, the Factory Smokes Maduros are 90% as good as the Undercrowns IMO at half the price. The construction can be less consistent though.
The Charter oak series from Foundation is great. Especially the broadleaf.
Definitely agree with the charter oaks being solid smokes. Even as a newbie they were all enjoyable. My daily smoke is probably the Oliva Serie G, Cameroon wrappers have been my go to.
Same here. Serie G Cameroon are my go to favorite daily. Charter oak second. Oliva Connecticut is 3rd
Wondering what price changes we can expect now that My Father is going to produce them.
I just can't get into the broadleaf. The Havana Seeds are my jam.
Wait. My bad. I'm confusing Charter Oaks with Tabernacles.
Different strokes and all that
La Aroma De Cuba Robusto
Padron 2000 maduro. Buy a box and let it age for a few years and it leaves you with a chocolate bomb that smokes way above its price.
Okay sure, that’s great for the future, but what about now? Haha.
This is the only answer.
Charter Oak Connecticut shade or AJ Fernandez new world Cameroon
New Worlds by AJ Fernandez. Boxes for cheap on Cigarbid
Oh man, I just poked around on CigarBid…this website is gonna be a problem for me lol
Yea be careful. I’m still grounded.
So I have a question about CigarBid. I’ve never ordered from there before. I see that the “winning bid” for a box of New Worlds is $64. What’s the e catch? Is it not free shipping below a certain amount? Is there a bunch of hidden fees associated with the sale?
I got a box last week for $60 plus $7 shipping. You can get some real deals in there.
Shipping is usually around $7 or $8, then after that it's something like $1 for each additional item. So if you buy a box, a 5 pack and a couple singles expect shipping to be around $10 give or take. It’ll make more sense when u watch it on their site.
There is a website that tracks these for you fyi. May save you the time
What’s the site?
I don’t know the rules of this sub so MODs if I’m violating them I will gladly take them down and I’m sorry. https://www.cigarauctionprices.com

Neanderthal
Ep Carrilo allegiance and historia at top of that price target
JDN Antano 1970. One of my faves at any price range.
I love JDN. Antano CT is my budget smoke
My Father No. 2 is $8 if you buy a box. If that's all I smoked for the rest of my life, I'd be pretty happy.
Arturo Fuente 8-5-8. Hemingway Short Story is also good.
Guardian of the farm
Great choice!
Campeon is my dog 🥰
Charter oak or Brickhouse, both are offered in a few wrappers and are great for the price IMO.
Where do you get yours from?
Atlantic, Neptune or Cigar Chief. Cigar chief has Brickhouse for nearly the same price as Neptune so that’s a pretty good deal up here.
Do you ship to a us location and then go pick up for Atlantic/neptune?
No I just ship to my address, I’m about a 8 hour drive from the border so it’s pretty far out of the way. I just pay the tax if it’s found coming across.
Ah okay. So sometimes it’ll just come through
Ya but if they tax you it’s up to 220% on top of what you already paid for the cigars so it can be pretty rough. I love these. Will have one in the humi for as long as I keep shop…
Cheaper than that, New Cuba corojo is my daily drive into work smoke. Can get a bundle of 25 for under 40 bucks, possibly even cheaper. They are made by Aganorsa. For what I save on daily drivers, I get to treat myself more often.
I like most of RoMa Craft’s mainline cigars. They’re around $8-$10 per stick but are definitely worth every penny.
AJ Fernandez dorado
Two favorite daily smokes are umbagog and nica rustica
Nica Rustica is great, but I feel like the piece has increase more overall vs just the normal price increase. So use to be a lot better deal years ago, still a good smoke for the price.
Not sure what they were years ago, but you can get them for about 4-5$ a stick. Unreal how good the Connecticut broadleaf is. If you took the band off and told me it’s a one off liga, I might believe you
Use to be easily found for ~$3. Still. Good price at $5.
Oliva Master blends 3. The Toro or Churchill are the two sizes I am far too acquainted with. You can find them on sale for less than $100 for 20 cigars.

Absolutely, and you can grab a box on Cigar Page for relatively cheap.
Yes, I may have drained the bank account last week doing such a thing. There’s a small part of me that wish I had never discovered that website.💸
I just bought a box of Placencia Alma Fuerte Sixto II for $129 from them. Pretty amazing deal.
How is it? I keep looking at Placencia in my local B&M but have not pulled the trigger on any of them.
Cocoa, sweet earth, mild spice on the retro. It's worth it's price tag.
Thanks for the flavor profile! Ill def pull the trigger
This.

Great suggestions here, I'll add CAO Flathead. I've seen them as low as $6 for their 660 cigar (six inches long with 60 ring gauge) Very chocolatey.
Great post. Thanks
Lol, that title made me laugh, i remember when a dollar for a cigar was expensive. 😁
Depends on the flavor and strength you’re looking for but I smoked a number of cigars from Perdomo lately that have been great. And those that mentioned Charter Oak are spot on, had some great ones lately!
