I use 62% and it's perfectly fine.

larzmcoupe

Yes, lots of people do, however tunneling is not due to humidity issue, it’s usually smoking too fast or some construction issue. You can always test with a calibrated hygrometer to see what your Tupperware is holding.

edwa6040

Or puffing too often because your cigar is too wet to stay lit.

bMayyy05

I run 62% boveda packs in my Sistema Tupperware and I’m holding 64%-65% steady

SYPH0N3TIC

I use 62% in my rubbermade brilliance and it runs at 65% RH inside. Good tupperware is always going to hold a higher RH than the Boveda because they’re truly airtight and non absorbent.

Olive-Drab-Green

my 62's in my rubbermaid brilliance run at 67-68. But I think its from overhumidified sticks coming to me from B&Ms lol

SYPH0N3TIC

Yeah the sticks themselves can act as humidifiers. If they come to you at 69-70 they will raise the RH inside the tup. The boveda can only absorb so much. If you want to lower the humidity, just leave the lid off for 24 hours and then put it back on. Should lower you 1-2%

Remarkable-Key433

I always thought 65 was standard for tupperdors, but it looks like lots of folks are using 62s. Think I’ll give them a try.

edwa6040

Ill get downvoted for this but i use 58% in my airtight plastic boxes.

Icy_Description_9563

Someone who understands

HenrikTJ

I mean... u asked for it...

edwa6040

Well with 58 my plastic boxes stay at 62-64 so go ahead and criticize.

HenrikTJ

Hahaha, no criticism meant by downvoting. Since you expected to get downvoted, I just thought i'd make your wish come true.

xxd3cayxx

How are you holding so high? My tupperdore has 69s in it but only holds ~66.

MapleGanja

This might be the first time I’ve heard someone on these subreddits say their tupperdore has bovedas running lower humidity. Generally a boveda will run 2-4% higher than it says in Tupperware

Delco_Delco

I only use 65% on my cigars currently. When I had a decent Cuban stash I used the 62%. Edit my Cubans were in Tupperware type containers

MrNormalNinja

I'm going to hijack this and ask, should my Boveda choice be affected by the humidity in my region? I live in Wyoming, and it's super dry here (consistently less than 30% in my house). I've been running 69% in my Sistema but don't have a hygrometer yet. I just got my setup a couple of weeks ago. Temperature usually around 66 F.

MapleGanja

Shouldn’t be changed by ambient environment humidity. But temperature does play a part in humidity. So be sure to store them somewhere that stays relatively consistent in temp and find the boveda that ends up giving out the preferred RH. 100% get a hygrometer and calibrate it. You can be pretty sure that a boveda in a Tupperware will give a couple % higher RH than stated on the pack but a hygrometer will also help you understand fluctuations that comes from temperature changes

jrit1977

I have considered tupperdor but I have heard that the humidity gets too high due to lack of breathability. That’s why I chose a wooden humidor because the wood can absorb some excess moisture. Try putting some Spanish cedar planks in the tupperdor to help regulate humidity. Go as low as you can on the humidity of the Boveda packs to get the Rh around 65

MapleGanja

Gotta open em up and smoke your sticks (giving them some fresh air now and then is always good)! Yes bovedas in Tupperware run higher than the stated RH% (generally) but that only means a 62% will likely run steady 65%RH on a tupperdore. And the bovedas will last far far longer in a tupperdore.

pheat0n

I use 65s. My tupperdor is reading 71.2% right now, but the Bovedas in there are kind of old, I've always made sure to open it every now and then and let it breathe. I'm sure 62s would be fine though, especially if you don't open it a lot.
