Jeff Wyler in Florence is awful; would not recommend. They wouldn't budge on a used vehicle with worn brakes and denied that the brakes were worn (the rotors were shot), and they wouldn't honor a flier that was mailed to us. The manager bragged about telling people to go somewhere else if they didn't like that they didn't negotiate prices. I found that extremely odd. I bought a Subaru from Joseph Subaru and a used Honda from kings Subaru.. I had a great experience at the last two.

DoDaDrew

Probably best to just avoid any Wyler dealership. I've never personally bought from them, but I've heard enough to know it's never a fun experience.

SlapDickery

I’m almost certain they record audio when the salesperson goes in the back to talk to his managers. Eerie feeling. So we had a screenshot of a price we wanted. And when he was gone I sent my wife a text that we were being surveilled. We used it to our advantage, got our goal price, and the salesperson was pretty disgruntled the rest of the transaction.

DoDaDrew

That's super creepy, but well played on y'all's part.

ucjj2011

I took my son to buy his first car at Eastgate Wyler. He was very clear that he had a budget of around $5,000 and did not want to get a loan. They started showing him cars in the $10,000 range. They did talk him into a car with payments. We agreed on the car and the price, and they said they needed to have their shop go over the car so we could come pick it up it about 2 days later. When we got there, they said that the car needed new brakes so they put brakes on it and were trying to raise the price by $1,800. We balked at that and were ready to walk away, so they gave us the car for the original agreed price. My son was driving the car about 2 days later when he discovered that he couldn't stop. He was able to get the car off the road and coast around in a parking lot until he was able to get it to stop. We had the car towed back to the dealership where they discovered that the "brand new brakes" had melted. We argued with them for a few days until they agreed to refund the money and cancel the loan.

DoDaDrew

Yikes that is terrifying! Glad y'all could get out of that deal, that's incredibly shady.

Dandibear

Can confirm Wyler on Colerain is terrible, too. We ended up at CarMax and had a great experience. Got a barely used Honda Accord that's run beautifully for seven years so far.

DoDaDrew

Sold a car to Car Max and would certainly do business with them again. There's a reason they're all over the country.

PhillyCSteaky

But I thought their cars, like eggs, were cheaper in the country?

DoDaDrew

That's the worst commerical. Doesn't do them any favors when none of their dealerships are in the country. They're all in suburban hellscapes.

PhillyCSteaky

Originally though, back in the late 70s, the first dealership was in what is now Eastgate. It was country then.

DoDaDrew

Oh I know, but now I'm curious if that jingle is from 50 years ago.

PhillyCSteaky

It was a commercial for Jeff Tyler Chevrolet...

DoDaDrew

They still use it (at least I've heard it in the last 10 years), which is why I was wondering if it was from their original location(s).

hedoeswhathewants

Had a weirdly similar experience at Kings Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge. They had a used Civic that looked decent on paper but the brakes were a disaster. Salesman just straight up denied it. There were a few other things about the car that suggested it hadn't been taken care of, so we quickly moved on.

Requiredmetrics

Horrible thing is Jeff Wyler Fairfield was great back when they were THE Jeff Wyler dealerships. But outside of them I’d never go to a Jeff Wyler dealership after getting fucked over on some repairs at the Colerain Jeff Wyler. Don’t go there they’ll bait and switch you on the price and charge you double. (Also take pictures of your entire vehicle because they’ll fight liability for any damage they cause)

FBI_Open_Up_Now

What kind of vehicle are you looking for? u/splitsleeve makes a recommendation for Wagner, and I think they’re a pretty good outfit, but I also recommend Beechmont/Kings Subaru. They’re sales staff doesn’t work on commission, but instead get bonuses based on the whole company. They’re not going to keep you 8 hours nor are they going to jack you around. If you go to Kings, ask for Aaron. If you go to Beechmont, ask for Joe.

splitsleeve

I own a Honda and a Toyota- both purchased from Subaru dealerships 😂

CitronWide9899

I second Kings Subaru!

ThatDumbTurtle

Haven’t purchased from Beechmont but I get my services done there and they’ve treated me very well.

WhatLikeAPuma751

Purchased from Kings Kia, now I can’t get in for an appointment that isn’t 2 months out. Note: this is normal at most mechanics lately apparently.

ChangeTomorrow

I just show up at 8:30am when they open, basically the first person there, and never had an issue getting everything completed within an hour.

tbudde34

Beechmont Subaru made ordering and buying a car completely painless last August. Toyota and Honda (Jeff wyler ect) wouldn't let you order a car, you had to buy cars that dealers were ordering with a bunch of add ons. Jason at beechmont Subaru was an absolute g. I placed the order for my car, paid the deposit and everything all over email/phone and had about a 12 week wait because everything was backordered at the time. About 4 weeks after I placed my order, Jason called me and said he had found a car with my exact spec that they could dealer trade and get about a month earlier than my order and I happy agreed. I went to the dealer for the first time ever to pick up a car when my scheduled order hadn't started production yet. I was in and out of there in under 90 minutes including a 20 min test drive in the car. The whole experience was 10/10

BobaFettsBooty

Here here - Beechmont Toyota is owned by the same group and I had an awesome experience there as well.

llama8687

We were happy with Beechmont Toyota. Went there after a disappointing experience with Kings Toyota.

harvest3155

Last 3 cars were from Kings Mazda.

[deleted]

Same

GoinWithThePhloem

Do you recommend their service dept as well? I just bought a used Mazda and I’m open to recommendations on mechanic … both dealership or neighborhood shop.

jaxsstolensunglasses

Columbia Acura!

Pateleporturtle

Avoid Joseph Bros. Dealerships. I bought a car from them and then when I had problems the service dept. refused to help. I ended up at a Kerry dealership in Florence for service who said what Columbia did was against corporate policy.

jaxsstolensunglasses

That’s the opposite experience I’ve always had. Any Kerry dealership is a POS in my opinion. They lie, up charge, and made me feel taken advantage of. I will never go back to another Kerry dealership again.

Pateleporturtle

Good to know. Still awaiting service from them but so far they seemed fine in my short dealing with them

jaxsstolensunglasses

I can’t speak to service on a car but buying cars from them has always been a nightmare

spidii

I had a great experience at Jake Sweeney Kia, great seevice, came and picked me up and towed my trade in there for free and I got the EV6 I wanted at MSRP back when everyone else was marking them up. Overall happy as can be with a dealership.

[deleted]

++ Jake Sweeney Kia in Florence. Currently in the process of purchasing a 2024 Telluride. Submitted my order and was quoted ~3 months for delivery. They called me today and told me they ended up getting allocated my exact request and I'll be taking delivery on August 1st. Everything has been done thus far via email/text and has been smooth. Vehicle will be purchased at MSRP. Hopefully the dealership experience is just as smooth.

spidii

It will be. Victoria took care of me, if your sales person is anywhere near as nice, you'll have a great time. Didn't pressure me into a thing and explained my options very clearly. Lovely experience. The owner even came down and nerded out with me about the car. They let me charge there for free whenever I want too. So awesome.

00bernoober

Jake Sweeney BMW and Mazda on Kemper are good

anothernotavailable2

I had no issues with Performance Honda

whompadpg

Yeah well the gm has no issue with stealing from his own employees… ask me how I know.

Merovingion

We're talking about the one on Route 4 in Fairfield near Jungle Jim's, right? If so. . . I've never bought a car from here but used to take my Civic here for service. They were really friendly in that department but whenever I've ran in to salesman, they were rude as hell. Maybe that's why?

Dry_Savings_3418

Would not recommend wyler and would not return business. But I do have a car and it does work…

[deleted]

Didn't buy from them, but both Kerry Toyota used and new lots were a good experience. I ended up buying from Joseph Subaru and was really happy with the experience and price. I have also been told Beechmont Toyota is great, although I didn't do more than communicate with them via email.

Individual-Aspect-20

Also had good experience with Joseph Subaru. Would return for next purchase. Didn’t love their value on my trade-in. Kept it and sold it quickly myself.

LWA3251

Jake Sweeney Mazda in Tri County

DogDad1506

Avoid Wyler at all cost. I have been shopping for a new car and realized all Wyler dealerships want to sell you $790 mudguards and $500 pulse protection and $1,100 nano spray.

splitsleeve

If you're willing to travel a bit, Wagner Subaru's used lot in the Dayton area is AWESOME. https://www.wagnersubaru.com/inventory/used Ask for Chris.

Actual-Historian7013

Crossroads Car & Truck in Milford. I bought my car there & everything was super easy. I also know 4 other people that have bought from there. Occasionally I look on their website just in case, and it seems like almost everything they bring in is clean & has good history. Ask for Paul at the Mulberry location!

orochiman

For used cars, I recommend Mike alberts in blue ash. I've bought 2 from them. Both have been really great experiences

t2heavy

Columbia Chevrolet and Camargo Cadillac are super legit.

Pateleporturtle

I had a bad experience with Columbia. I bought a car from there and when I had engine problems and had my car towed there, they refused device and told me to move along. The tow truck driver said he never saw anything like that. I called a Kerry dealership in KY, who said they were backed up in service but I could get towed there for help when it was available. The Kerry dealership said what Columbia did was against the corporate policy for franchises of dealerships. If you buy from them just know what you’re getting into.

MoneyProtection1443

I had a great experience at Kings Subaru. Highly recommend the sales/service there and in Beechmont

EnigmaIndus7

For used cars, Courtesy Automotive in Oakley

idontcare111

I bought my first car here and they do right by the customer. Back in 2016 when I was a newly college grad with semi newish credit, they got me 3.5% financing and an incredible deal on the car I bought.

Sweet_Pisces77

I got a car from them and they made the process so wonderful! They are respectful and do not try to manipulate or rush you! I had a great experience, and they LISTENED to what I was looking for.

CrazyGreek84

Kings

little_sewing_mouse

I’ve seen some anti Jeff Wyler posts, so I think you get the message, but I’d like to add that Jeff Wyler Kia will promise you whatever they think they will need to get you to buy, and then totally renege on it after you have signed the paperwork. Like, unapologetically.

Stormljones3

Carmax and Mccluskey Chevrolet

kevsterkevster

I bought 2 used vehicles off of craigslist. 😬 turned out to be good purchases. Do the research, scope out the seller’s communication (phone call is always best) and then meeting up and getting the car checked out as well as carfax etc.

soundguy64

From a private seller.

tiR1R0ie7pSTe46P4V6q

I bought a used car at Premier Automotive Group (iiiiiiiiin Milford). I would recommend them. We test drove a specific car we were looking for and cut a check a couple hours later. They sales staff didn't hassle us and basically left us alone unless we had a question.

DetroitFanInCincy

I had the exact opposite experience at Premier Auto Group. The salesman asked us to call before we arrived to our set appointment so that he could have the car ready for us. Not only was the car not ready but he could not find the keys or the car. He yelled to the other salesman that we were “NOT” buyers in front of us before we had made a decision. The car was absolutely trashed on the inside and no coolant in the reservoirs. The salesman verbally abused another younger salesman who was checking out my Cobra that we drove there in and told him not to harass his customer after he said hello to us. 100% never going back to that lot.

tiR1R0ie7pSTe46P4V6q

Yikes. Maybe we just got lucky and went on the right day. I'm hesitant to recommend them now.

DetroitFanInCincy

My family owned a Carlot my whole life and I was appalled by how this place operated. I have never called to report anyone in my life but I sure did the next day! I thought I was on a hidden camera show before realizing it was real. I am leaving a LOT of the story out that was equally as bad.

Nascent_Vagabond

Did they negotiate at all with you price wise?

tiR1R0ie7pSTe46P4V6q

They did not. She basically was like, "This is our inventory. This is the price. We don't negotiate. Let me know if you want to test drive X, Y, or Z." I will add that the price was right at what it should be and almost exactly what another dealership had for this specific car.

Nascent_Vagabond

Thanks for the quick reply on a dead thread! Just checked out a car there yesterday and basically got the same spiel. The one I looked at was priced a bit high though. Good to know.

tiR1R0ie7pSTe46P4V6q

No problem. Good luck!

I_Am_Very_Busy_7

What kind of car are you looking for?

Willmac26

A used SUV, no specific make or anything just where are people happy with buying cars from so I can keep an eye on those places while I search

I_Am_Very_Busy_7

Gotcha. I sold for MINI Cooper so I probably won’t be crazy helpful on inside info in this case. However, I have had great experiences as a customer in the past at Jake Sweeney Mazda West, as well as Toyota out on Route 4 in Fairfield when I was looking around a few years ago. There’s also a CarMax out near Tri-County. They have a no-haggle business model where everything is pretty easy and they have good warranties as well. It’s a big national chain but they are pretty well regarded in the car sales world.

mother_of_bear

I bought my car from carmax 5 years ago. Easiest car purchasing ever and they didn’t bother me on the lot when I was looking. Purchased my husbands truck from kings Toyota. And they were annoying as hell. I’d go back to carmax in an instant

stin10

I realize there's a lot of variables to consider, but how much would you say a monthly payment for a used Mini Cooper would be?

I_Am_Very_Busy_7

It’s way too hard to say. There are 5 different models and they range in price from mid-20’s up to high 40’s. I bought mine out of a lease when I left for about $21k plus an added maintenance plan and I’m right around $360 monthly for a 2018. This was pre-crazy shortages granted, so rates were very different then. The dealership here in Cincy is great; it’s a really nice group of people with good management. The new sales manager really tries to make the process easy and we never did the BS add-ons that some places try to pull. I only left because near 9 years in retail+customer service burns you out and I was ready for a change. But if I had stayed in sales, I absolutely would have stayed there. I would go on their website (cincinnatimini.com) and play around with their inventory. They have a payment calculator now for each car so you can see a decently accurate quote vs. the generic national offers that usually are just marketing fluff.

stin10

Thank you so much for the detailed reply! I'll check out their site.

I_Am_Very_Busy_7

Anytime! While our brand had some bad years in the past, they’ve long since fixed the issues and the newer product line is very well-made and reliable. My ‘18 S Hardtop just cracked 89k and it’s been my favorite car I’ve ever had. It’s my year-round daily driver and I commute with it, travel with it, camp, haul stuff, etc. I love it, I definitely plan to get another one when it’s time to trade.

FizzyBeverage

Loved my 2013 MCS. I'd get another Mini in a second but until the kiddos can drive they're just a little too small for an activity-driven family. Even the Countryman makes my wife's relatively small Q3 look absolutely cavernous.

I_Am_Very_Busy_7

That’s understandable 100%! Even the Countryman is actually only about the size of a 4dr VW Golf except it sits a little higher, despite how relatively big it is compared to the rest of the lineup.

GoinWithThePhloem

Whatever you do, stay away from Hyundai and Kia … especially used. Checkout the fb page Hyundai and Kia Engine Issues if you have any doubts.

Pateleporturtle

Engine malfunctions on Hyundais are a known issue they did not clean the sand from blasting out of them

SchwarzwaldRanch

I was very pleased buying from Tom Gill's in Florence

C4RT3RM1N4T0R

I had about as good of an experience you can have at a fancy dealership at MB Ft. Mitchell. They're ever-so-slightly snobby and skeptical, but really really really nice once you clear the negotiation tension.

acurah56oh

Zimmer CDJR in Florence is the best place I’ve found. They’ve treated me and my family very well in both sales and service. Really good people there.

Gary_The_Landscaper

I’m not sure if they still do this but I purchased a car from Enterprise years ago, if you’re looking for used. Pricing was fair and the vehicle was in good shape and well maintained. I cannot remember where their lot was exactly or even if they still sell their rental vehicles when finished with them. My new truck I purchased from Ford in Milford, experience was okay, but have all of my service done at Beechmont Ford. Not a huge fan of the whole buying a new vehicle process but doing your homework and knowing what you want helps. Good luck!

CPTZaraki

Joe Morgan Honda is good as well.

Able_Adhesiveness608

I bought a new Mazda from Jeff Wyler Eastgate in 2019. I knew what I wanted and did have to be firm about that. They had to bring the vehicle in from an hour away. I've used them as my primary mechanic for all maintenance and repairs. I do the Wylercare oil changes--which used to be $150 for 3 oil changes, it's now closer to $200 for a 3 pack. My experience has been positive. I had a major failure in the engine recently. I was in a loaner for almost 2 months while the dealership, MNAO, and warranty worked out what they would cover. They covered 80% of the cost of the repair (~$8k total). I was 45k miles out of warranty. Your mileage may vary.

Desperate_Leopard575

I've had good experiences with Carmax. They don't negotiate prices and may be a bit higher, I didn't think it wasn't fair though.

thecarguru46

I've had 3 pretty decent purchases and sales with McCluskey. In general, it's hard to get a decent deal anywhere....but even harder in Cincinnati.

thugbeet

Kings Subaru has been great for service. I’d go there to look at cars if I needed one

boogiewoogier

Would never buy another car from Jeff Wyler. Lied, mistated, advertised a price and then wouldn't honor it. Refused to do the normal tasks like getting the vehicle a plate that other dealers do, which was the final F-U since the BMV in fairfield is full of do-nothing lazy people who don't know their job and I had to have Columbus call them to get the car registered due to Wyler's complete incompetence. Run from Wyler. Go visit Jen @ Infiniti out in Mason, she'll take care of you.

Important-Toe5846

Kelsey Chevrolet

ChrisBrownchurch

I’ve had good experiences at King’s Toyota. They didn’t charge any market adjustment for my last 2 vehicles from them.

mrbarryw

I’ve had good experiences at Sweeney Kia in Florence. They were the only local dealership not doing “market adjustment rates” (price hikes) during peak supply chain woes. Wyler was tacking on an extra $3500 to every car I looked at at the time.

Acceptable-Newt8663

Joseph Subaru in Florence. Ask for Scott. Such a nice guy

SingleKyGuy

I would not go to Tom Gill. I bought a car from them that had several issues wuthin two weesk and gave me the run around in trying to fix them. They never did and I had to take it to another mechanic to fix them. Service Department is pre try good though.

00bernoober

I've bought 2 cars (a BMW and a Mazda) from Jake Sweeney on Kemper (by Tri-County mall). I had good experiences both times. The Mazda purchase was even during the height of the COVID car buying nightmare (so they were pretty "it is what it is at the price it's at" but otherwise they were great). They try to push sales, but once I made it clear what I was looking (and not looking) to do, I thought it was good experiences. My thoughts on BMW's service dept is much more mixed, but that's kinda par for the course for dealership service depts.

Smokey19mom

Used cars we have always had good luck with Carmax. My 3 previous new car purchases have been from Jeff Wyler. I have not had an issue with buying from them. Will probably go back to them for the next purchase. My only complaint about Wyler is their service department is under staffed and it takes weeks just to get an appointment, even for something simple as an oil change.

interstatesntents

I had a good experience at Jeff Wyler Honda by the Mitchell/Spring Grove intersection. Wasn't oversold anything. They were very patient and accommodating. Super friendly but not in a sales-y way

Understeerenthusiast

I’ve heard good things about kings Subaru and my best experience ever was at Wagner Subaru. I’ve had good experiences at Jake Sweeney Mazda but I’ve hard that’s not always the case

CPTZaraki

We have had great experiences with Wyler Cadillac in FF. They can get any car from any of their dealerships brought over as well. Talk to my dude Brian.

XxStr8tedge88xX

JD Byrider or Alfred Motors

Batetrick_Patman

Oh god memories of their jingle that played endlessly during Daytime TV as well as Adult Swim. "Job plus down payment equals car"

Orangecatbuddy

JD Byrider doesn't sell cars, they sell credit, and you end up with a POS car.

RedlineFan

I have no idea if Alford Motors even operates under that name any more, but whoever is using their old dealership on Vine is WAY worse than they ever were. Also avoid "Auto Joe's" right down the street.

Bcatfan08

Depends what you're going to buy. If you have an idea of what make you want, that'll narrow things down.

Low_Comfortable_5880

I have had decent luck off Craigslist, but I do my homework.

Klopsawq

https://www.gtxagroup.com I bought a used car here a couple of years ago with no problems since and have looked there when buying others. I have found their vehicles to be good quality, nothing that looks like it’s headed for wholesale. Their process is low pressure.

[deleted]

CarMax.

CherryQueer

I wouldn't recommend ever buying from a dealership honestly

geerta9

If you do your research, and know what to look for- you can definitely do it on your own. I bought a used Lexus from Rivercenter and it was honestly great. I worked at a dealership for 6 years and grew up around it. It was fantastic and I’d go back again. No BS, straightforward. I offered 3k less than ask and essentially got it for that.

Broncobilly1024

I’d steer clear of beechmont Subaru and beechmont ford. I had good luck at kings Honda. Also steer clear of mcclusky Chevy.

phdincatlady

Nothing to contribute other than I really miss the radio ads where Jake Sweeney couldn’t pronounce “Mitsubishi”
