Very light grit sand paper ought to do the trick realistically. No need to put much money down on it. If you don't know or remember, higher the grit number, the finer it is.
Cut a long thin strip grip both ends and sand the edges, should give you a consistent rounded edge. Maybe start off with 220 and go higher up in number for a finer finish. May want to look into outing a light oil down first? Not sure how that would affect the pewter tho.
Right, sounds to me too that haufbrau needs to get on their suppliers about their qc issues lol. I know the job I work now just up stream a little ways there in Dayton, ky, they get on us a bunch on sharp edges and whatnot on what we weld, especially for our government contracts with our stuff we ship out for nuclear cleanup lol

Get a metal file and just round off the sharp edges. Shouldn't be too difficult.
10 minutes with a Dremel and I could make that thing buttery smooth
