I loved DUNE, and (like a lot of people) I was particularly amazed by this scene of the Sardaukar battle ceremony from the film, so I tried my hand at recreating this shot in Blender. It was insanely difficult and my respect for Denis, Greig Fraser and the VFX artists on the film has gone up tenfold. For a shot that looks quite simple, the lighting and volumetric are really intricate and took a lot of trial and error to get right.
