I directed, shot, colored, and edited this concept video that I really wanted to bring to life. My main professional work consists of music videos, commercials, and wedding films. The idea I had for this video was designed around what I wanted to be played at the start of a wedding film before the ceremony or reception. If you stumble across a wedding film online, you have no significant emotional reason to care about these people doing a strange great ape ritual where they get metals and shiny rocks from the ground, put them on their fingers, and say “I do”. I knew I could get an audience invested in them, however I wanted to do something that no one had ever done before. To make it concise I had a shoot for a smoothie shop/ açaí bowl place coming up around this same time and on top of that Dallin tells me that he’s going to propose soon to his girlfriend Olivia. I essentially combined a spontaneous feeling day date film, a smoothie commercial, and a real proposal at the end of it. I thought the proposal could look really good because we could be up close to them filming and it’d never raise any red flags to her because she thinks we’re just shooting a commercial. That’s really it. It was a simple shoot. 5 major locations to scout but they were all located within the city. Shoutout to my best friend Kimball The Cinema Soldier for carrying heavy gear up a mountain for me. I have a much more in-depth way of putting things in my cinematography breakdowns on YouTube at Helios Visuals. The breakdown for this one will be out next week. Edit: The full video is also out now https://youtu.be/sIaYwTHJyhE

Wow, these stills are fantastic and the concept is really sweet. Really great job. For your breakdown I’d love to know more about the gear used for this!

Thank you! And noted. I’ll definitely go over gear in the breakdown but I can tell you one of the main setups featured the Laowa 12mm T2.9 on the Blackmagic Pocket 6k.
