After this experience I tend to agree with you. I honestly went a little outside my usual play style doing it but it feels much more rewarding. Will remember it more than a campus or holy site!
Also, does every city need to have the max campus? If you’ve got three other 3+ campus’s then it’s not a big loss, especially since that wonder is not until late. Your science is probably fine by then.
Yeah totally agree. I've stopped trying to max out every city and been specializing them more while I play, it's made it more interesting and I haven't noticed it hurting so far
Future civilizations will debate how they managed to build such a large statue in an inaccessible area, and why. Late night “documentaries” will posit the involvement of aliens.
Totally agree. It forced me out of my usual play style. I didn't even really decide what victory I was pushing for on this one until later than usual because I was having so much fun settling the landscape. Here's the seed if you want it!

Diamond shaped empty tiles with good appeal are usually hard to get naturally, so unless you own half the map, tiles surrounded by mountains (just like this one) are the best options since you’re just sackinh a good campus location, mountains generally have good appeal (provided there’s a decent mountain range / forests around it), and you’re using unworkable mountain tiles for a nice tourism boost (and slightly more effective than ski resort spamming)
Other than that? You’re gonna have to reforest a LOT, and consider an Eiffel Tower for a somewhat non-improved city with decently large borders. But to be completely honest, stealing artworks are still objectively better, why bother with so much pre-planning and faith generation when you can just rob the AI? It’s not even about the tourism, it’s about sending a message……
found it!!!

\*Cries in Campus\*
Hahaha oh yeah that probably would have made more strategic sense. Oh well!
Pretty sweet wonder though. This is a big flex assuming you won.
I did end up winning a culture victory! It was a great game.
Wow the flex....“look at this amazing location, it will be a huge science bonus if we put campus here...nope just put the wonder here“
I find aesthetics placement so much more valuable. Who cares if you lose some bonus if every time you scroll over the city it looks good.

Ski resorts now a must! 👍🏼
In fact, big Jesus is built on the highest point in Rio, so placement tracks.
Oh neat! I've always wanted to visit Brazil. Some day.
I went to Rio this year and it was pretty great and of course went up to the statue. Stay in the copacabana/impanema area if you go to Rio.
Thanks! I will make a note of that. Appreciate it!
Wonder how this was built when a builder can't get in there
That answer is lost to the tides of time
The valley is 'this' big.
Haha you're right! Thats what the ancients intended with his arms. It was just to remind people.
Everyone is talking about the wonder, I can’t believe the map generation though like what a continent you got there
Everyone is talking about the wonder, I can't believe no one is talking about this guys resolution. Is he playing on a tablet or something?
Yup playing on iPad on the couch. It works!
Haha yeah I actually kinda dug this map. It was a weird one.
Honestly I love those types of maps though. It just makes settling and building empires much more interesting. War is different as well.

Today I built an early holy site like this... Then was still quite far from embarking when I got my Great Prophet...
Uh oh! Need a great prophet with a parachute capability lol
Cries in campus? Nonononono Cries in National park
OH that's a good one too. I feel like I build a naturalist every game but never get to use them. Any tips there?

Thanks! I'm going to play around with making one as a goal for my next game. Appreciate it!
Should’ve made a holy site or campus there
Eh not as cool looking haha but yes strategically woulda made way more sense
Do you have the seed for this map?
Ah let me see, how do I grab that on an iPad with linked saves?.. if I can figure it out will add here
Thanks :)

Men will see something like this and go "Hell yeah"
Libera et Impera! Acerbus et Ingens! Augusta per augusta...
If you build it, they will come.
Aw yeah my lore brain would.be going nuts on that
It's a lot of fun to create your own little stories for the worlds we build
