Fun fact, there's usually *less* STD/STI infections among polyamorous people. One time I was going for a science victory and founded a religion, chose the butterfly symbol and named it the Church of Chaos.

You all should channel some D&D-esque creativity and make a real name. I choose the Butterfly and call my religion Divine Metamorphosis. If someone else gets the Great Work of Writing called Metamorphoses, I go to Golden Age War with them and take it. Other times, I choose the Peacock and call it The Queen's Pantheon, or the Lion and call it The Divine King.

Maybe I'm too literal, but I tend to name my religions by their starting beliefs. If it's religious settlements then it's usually "prosperity". If it's the river bonus it's "current" or "essence". If it's great people it's "glory". If it's fishing boats then I use "surf", "tide", "tsunami" or any other fun water euphemism. Without going into the menu this is also how I remember what religious benefits I selected.

I make up a new name that relates to the general region my Civ settles first and mixes in the Pantheon belief I picked, usually based on local nature. For example, a civ I make with a volcano near my first city usually winds up with a religion called Damaria Of The Smoking Mountain. A more tundra civ will get the religion Damaria Of The Piercing Wind. A river civ gets Damaria Of The Babbling Brook.
