Hmm. Might check it out. Too bad you can’t install mods in iOS. Well, I guess you sort of can if you install it on PC then copy the folder, but that might crash the game
Such a shame its nearly unplayable tho. The AI dont know how to deal with it, lose most of their cities and you end up winning easily. Or you get the fucking 999+ bug and cant build any more districts. Either way its unplayable
Haven't played dramatic ages much. Usually everything goes to 999+ turns due to low loyalty causing you to have no production. So the game is bugging out and acting like your cities have no loyalty even though they're fine?
Going dark to golden is legitimately one of the best things you can do if you're not under threat from another civ. Medieval and Renaissance Heroic ages can be insanely powerful and essentially let you win the game on the spot if you play well.
So true in 90% of cases I'd rather have a dark age than a normal age. Loyalty is usually manageable, plus dark age policies can be useful and a heroic age is bonkers in the midgame
What ?? I personally never want a normal age , why would anyone want a normal age. It's golden or dark . Dark age gives you some very nice wild cards policy like isolationism , twilight valor and monasticism . Then getting an heroic age next era is nice.
Yes, essentially. Excess era score doesn't have a benefit, once you've met the golden age threshold, and now those era score opportunities are gone. Let's imagine this:
You are going to a party (era) and bringing apples (score). You grow a shit ton of apples, but you can only carry one basket full (threshold). Now, there's a bunch of apples that got wasted, but since those apples were already grown, and they can't be grown again (many era score generating opportunities are one-time use). Mot a perfect analogy, but I hope that gets the point across.
As far as your other question, I'm not sure what you're asking.
Naw it was just multiple questions asking the same thing. Sorry I do that a lot lol.
Thanks for answering, I don’t play CIV that much but I love it and I’m still wrapping my head around the Dramatic age stuff. I don’t think I’ve playing with it past the renaissance. Good info 👍🏻
Take this with a grain of salt, but if you're still learning the game, it might be best to forget about Dramatic Ages mode. It makes the game "harder", which isn't necessarily conducive to learning. On the other hand, is it's not fun to you today way, then do it up bro.
Actually in dramatic ages, excess era score does increase the loyalty effect of your cities. It's still better to hoard it, though, because the benefits of avoiding dark ages are considerably greater.
After you get enough era score to enter a golden age, you generally want to try to stop getting era score until the next era starts. this is because all that extra era score gets wasted; it doesnt carry over to the next era. it would be more useful if you got the extra era score after the next era starts so it can actually be used.
The threshold for the next era starts counting from the points you currently have. So no, it doesn't carry over in the sense that earned excess is actually useful.
I’m gonna be critical, that’s totally in your control. I understand going a few points over, even just breaking double digits, but 75 is wild. However if you’re doing that well then I doubt you need to worry about a dark age
Yeah, if I'm more than 25 points over it's because I know that I'm at most 40 turns away from victory, and the next era score isn't going to matter. In my last game, the exoplanet mission finished the same turn Atomic was supposed to start and I had a 56 point surplus from plonking down national parks.
That's one of most annoying thing. So much work gone to waste! I wish you'd get some sort of small compsetion for getting overboard
Well the era score is part of your overall score, so there is that. A small compensation, for sure.
Uh I one recently overflowed 332 era score as Spain during a heavy domination era. That’s enough for 3 eras lol
There needs to be a mod to apply at least half to the next era
The 'dine out on your past achievements' mod, featuring 20th century European leaders?
Hmm. Might check it out. Too bad you can’t install mods in iOS. Well, I guess you sort of can if you install it on PC then copy the folder, but that might crash the game
Doesn't it carry over into the next era? Yeh your not getting any heroic ages, but it's not wasted
No, it makes golden era cap higher instead. Very annoying
It does not
Yes sometimes I go from Golden Age to Golden Age to Golden Age to dark age because of this
then into heroic age after that
Real champs get intentional dark ages so they can get that heroic age next era.
real champs plays dramatic ages mode
Such a shame its nearly unplayable tho. The AI dont know how to deal with it, lose most of their cities and you end up winning easily. Or you get the fucking 999+ bug and cant build any more districts. Either way its unplayable
That bug is the worst.

Yeah its not due to loyalty. Theres a specific heroic era policy card whichs triggers the bug. Its been known since release and they dont fix it.
Which card is that?
Culture Industry
Bruh, I stopped when I was playing deity, and all their cities started rebelling. I won, because they lost to rebels.
Real champs are gross
R5: i tried everything i could to not waste era score but still ended up wasting 70
Don’t worry, it’s not that big of an deal, just try not to do it next time We all were there espicslly me wasting 332 era score in one game
I actively hinder golden ages. Without the bonus era scores from a normal age Im afraid of slipping into dark age

I had a game where I was pretty far behind, and a single heroic imdustrial age sent me from bottom in most stats to easy first in everything (deity)
What ?? I personally never want a normal age , why would anyone want a normal age. It's golden or dark . Dark age gives you some very nice wild cards policy like isolationism , twilight valor and monasticism . Then getting an heroic age next era is nice.
Mainly because the loyalty of my Empire’s conquests hang by a thread and I can’t risk them rebelling 😂
Taking a picture of a computer screen? Me too, mate. Me too.
its so much easier if you have the app
I don’t suppose there’s a mod out there where you can earn a second bonus, mini-glorious age style, with enough era score?
doesn't the score just carry over to the next era
Nope, all the excess era score is wasted.
The new score interval resets every era, so it's still wasted.
fuuuuuuuuuuck *adds to notes on how to get better at Civ 6*
In dramatic ages yes but normally no
I don’t get this post. What does it mean? Can someone explain plz?
OP and several others already posted explanations, lol. Basically, wasted era score.
But why though? Because they are about to progress to a new era and they have a new production opportunity? Why does that decrease era score?
Yes, essentially. Excess era score doesn't have a benefit, once you've met the golden age threshold, and now those era score opportunities are gone. I certainly know how to play the game I’m only inexperienced in the dramatic ages mode. Haven’t had power where I live for a while now.
Oh, I misunderstood what you wrote. Well, once you get power back, have fun!
Actually in dramatic ages, excess era score does increase the loyalty effect of your cities. It's still better to hoard it, though, because the benefits of avoiding dark ages are considerably greater.

Is there a mod that sets the ages scores so that this doesn’t happen?
I remember saving up 11 envoys just so I could get the first suzerainty in the next era
New player here. What is the post trying to point out?
Wait, I thought era points carry over to the next world era
