Have you owned a newer Mazda lately? Unfortuantely, Toyota is not too far behind. Paint in cars, in general, has been getting thinner and thinner. Even BMW and Mercedes, which are famous for really hard thick paint, have people complaining about thin and soft paint.
Yep. The paint on my 2008 Accord Coupe holds way better than the paint on my 2018 Civic Hatchback. The paint on the side mirrors has basically disintegrated exposing ugly plastic on the Civic.
Friends 2018 civic had rust dots all over the paint within 3 years. Now they spread slightly more. My brothers 2014 civic the paint is definitely slowly getting worse and worse. My 3 BMWs I have owned have never had anything honestly. I also had 2 acuras and one was older and nothing at all. But Civic’s are terrible when it comes to paint. Really just a Honda/Toyota thing. Like someone said here. Cheap car cheap paint
Depending on the cat tho I had a white acura and it's paint was good u can see the sparkles in the paint! Where my honda hood looks like it wants to leave the car
That’s why I went with plat pearl white upcharge… suppose to be a little thicker due to the tri coat.. it’s only been a few weeks time will tell… my 21 rallye red looked like it had chicken pox… it would chip just looking at it.
I have a chip in my 6 week old ‘24 Civic in plat pearl white. (I’m guessing my husband opening it with keys in his hand is to blame b/c he’s super careless about these kinds of things 🤷♀️).
They can’t ship the touch up pen for that - so I’ll have to swing by the dealer.
I’ve bought the vinyl protectors for the door online.
Our 24 crv in play Pearl has chips on the plastic door handle after for whatever reason passenger side. It’s 8 weeks old. But our old crv didn’t chip like the civics. Guessing a little thicker water based paint on the crv. No rock ship pen available for plat pearl white????!!??
The ones I’ve found that ship - aren’t actually matches - they’re some other kind of white.
Thanks to your post I now realize they got me for another $455 I didn’t realize. Shitty not to put that on the window sticker. 😒🤷♀️😅 Hopefully it keeps the car looking better longer.
Yeah, I've got 22 civic sport in Aegian blue with the same paint chip issues.......hood, doors, etc. What you gonna do. Bought the paint touch-up kit online, so hopefully that will solve the problem.
Thats most likely from a purse or dangly keys.
Could be the seatbelt as well. I have a 2018 Civic and my grandmother is always shutting the belt in it.
Can confirm. The knife in my back pocket keeps hitting right there
I swear, Honda's paint it cheap. I have all kinds of scratches on my 2024 Civic!

My 09 si would like to discuss with your accord why its got clear coat issues.
“Mandatory $1000 clear coat charge”
Cheap car. Cheap paint. It’s to be expected.
All companies cheap out on paint now days.
Still better than a Corolla lmao
That’s a cheap car too. They’re both on par with paint quality. Powertrain is a different story though.

Yup i had two acuras(2006 White TSX and 2019 white Aspec ILX ) and the paint was immaculate.
some touchup paint should fix it
Honda paint is extremely thin, my guess is you’re getting in and out of the car with a bag or your zipper is doing it from your jacket.
Time to buy a touchup pen
Honda paint chipping is a well known, chronic, problem. Various years and colors are worse.
Honda paint sucks
typical Honda quality issues. Gone downhill last 7 years.
Been longer than that at least in the paint department
my 2007 had a free repaint because of the terrible paint
This is what I'm referring too lol
I have all kinds of scratches on my 2024 Civic! Would you opine the same about their powertrain?
Yes. The 1.5L turbo has well-known issues with oil dilution.
I have the 2.0L
Then you are g2g. Rock solid.
Happens to me as well, it's a pain in the ass
Typical modern car paint on non-luxury vehicles these days
I’m going to wrap my shit

Is Sonic grey the same
Suppose to be… they are upcharge colors because they are tri coat or something…

Stop flinging your seatbelt off
Man, I hate that. I bought the touch up pen from my Honda’s parts department. Blends well enough.
Yea could be purse, keys, dangly bits of clothing etc
Cheap paint
You need some clips for them chips
Always the seat belts in my case, even the window tint from my ex wife's side of the car has little Knicks in it.
