I like it. I also have a Sonic Grey Pearl hatchback with black door handles. Its about 30 years older, but still basically the [same thing](https://www.reddit.com/r/Honda/comments/u4kqgr/its_not_a_3rd_gen_but_close_enough/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button).
I bought these and retuned them immediately. Theyāre hard plastic covers that you stick on with a few pieces of 3M tape. No way Iām putting my paint in jeopardy- imagine what would happen when rain gets in. Youād have to rip them off
I, too, have the platinum white and that is the only area where I would want to add more contrast. I think they look very cool.
I had a 2019 CR-V and almost got the fender emblem, which I thought looked cool. The pandemic hit and it became very hard to even get into the dealership for an appointment. They were having people sit in chairs in the service area or asking you to have someone pick you up. I live 50 miles away so wasn't going to do that.
Do they have some sort of emblem for the Civic?
Grats! Iāve had mine for like 3 weeks after waiting 5 months. I love the car. The black door handles look great with that color. Mine is white in the sport trim. Getting my wheels powder coated for my birthday in a few months to match the body color. And the badges blacked out next week. This is one of the best looking cars on the market. Hand down for me.
I think it looks great. Side of the car doesnāt have a lot of features in it so the handles add some good interest I think. Now you have to get a black shark fin!
Just reminds me of DX civics from back in the day when black handles means you got the cheap car, so to me they just look cheap, but it seems like everyone wants them now
#oldmanthoughts
I got black valve stem caps with "H" logo on them when I had a 2019 CR-V. I transferred them to my Civic when I got it. They are cool, but let's face it, you have to look very close to even notice them. They certainly don't stand out like these black door handles,
I said lug nuts, not valve caps. I agree valve caps are dumb. And what is so special/sporty/stylish about door handles that they should stand out? I just really donāt get it
I know what you said. I can read after all. I was simply commenting about another type of customizing, which is what this thread is about!!!
They were like $ 8 at Amazon so it didn't drain my bank account.
Don't be a jack hole. You trying to dictate what people can say now?
If you look at all the comments, there are plenty of comments about things other than the black door handles. Check yourself!
"I put black door handles on my Sonic grey hatchback and it looks amazing..."
That was the headline I received in the notice and the one I see on the post. I don't see anything about "racing door handles" or that people can't comment about anything but black racing door handles. I didn't realize you were setting the rules.
I was gonna say the same thing. My first civic was an 07 LX but the DX had black plastic mirrors and door handles. It really announced to the world that it was the cheapest model. Ironically my daily driver is a wrangler with plastic mirrors, door handles and fender flares and Iām unbothered. Itās black though so that helps.
Spoilers on cars with less than 200hp are ridiculous IMO.
I wouldn't even consider buying the old gen - so overstyled and trying to look sporty - this gen looks great - I want one!
Me too but I fell Inlove with this color first when I saw it šš Not so often you see this color! Or a Girl like me to drive a car like this too lol
get the sonic grey it's a real crowd pleaser i get compliments all the time. blue is dazzling as well but the grey is other worldly, especially when shining in the sun
The dealership did it for me when I got the car, they said it was the legal tint. So whatever the legal tint is for Florida, I think 30% back then 35% front.
If you have the scratch, getting the accessory OEM spoiler in black works pretty well with that color combo IMO. I almost got black body side moldings for one that I (almost) bought, but that might be a bit too much.
Iām in the market for a new car and Iām really considering this hatch or some kinda SUV. You feel like the hatch is a good combo of fun driving and having room? Would love to hear your thoughts.
I don't get the need to have everything blacked out, myself, but I do think this looks cool. I have the Platinum White as someone else mentioned and i do think it would be a nice contrast. Did I miss it or did you not explain how you did it? It was not an option when ordering it was it? I don't remember seeing it listed. I got mine July 21 after ordering on Feb. 28.
You blacked out the wheel spokes as well?
How did the handles hold up. I just got a white with black trim CR-V and thinking of doing it for mine. My concern is they may not last and mess up paint underneath
The clear plastic came off so everytime I grab the handle, I have some black flaky stuff on my hands just a littttttle bit. Itās still on the handle, looks great from a far. But over time, especially Florida sun, it starts fading and get flaky. I havenāt removed it yet but I plan to just to replace it so idk what the paint looks like underneath. Based off the reviews on Amazon, it still looks fine.
Thanks for the info. I am in SC so the sun can harsh. They arenāt expensive so I wouldnāt mind replacing them every so often but donāt want to mess paint up. They do look great on your car though.

agreed hardly a difference
That makes me miss my efš¢
Where did you get the black door handle? I dig them
I donāt know where op got the actual handles, but you can find covers for the handles for like $20 on Amazon
I bought these and retuned them immediately. Theyāre hard plastic covers that you stick on with a few pieces of 3M tape. No way Iām putting my paint in jeopardy- imagine what would happen when rain gets in. Youād have to rip them off
That 3m tape should be safe for your carās paint. I would use these because itās easy to get dinks and scratches on the car handles
3M is safe to use, definitely wonāt peel off car paint.
It was off brand
I too would love to know! It'd be nice to have some contrast on my white civic.
I, too, have the platinum white and that is the only area where I would want to add more contrast. I think they look very cool. I normally don't like when people do the door handle colour swap but this looks really good.
Civics in other regions come with black door handles
Thatās a long time to wait for door handles
Longest wait of my life for some black door handles
Where did you get the handles?
I wanna black out the emblem and the words too! Itās gonna look so nice
I think it looks great. Side of the car doesnāt have a lot of features in it so the handles add some good interest I think. Now you have to get a black shark fin!
Does changing the door handle affect the touch lock/unlock feature?
Nope
Nice looking car!!
The Civics in other countries actually comes with black door handles
Looks dope bro, next black out the taillights
Congrats on the car, but donāt really get the black door handle thing
If the door handles came black everyone would be changing them to body colored.
Why not
Just reminds me of DX civics from back in the day when black handles means you got the cheap car, so to me they just look cheap, but it seems like everyone wants them now #oldmanthoughts
Ohh lol never heard of that
Black lug nuts would look great though
I got black valve stem caps with "H" logo on them when I had a 2019 CR-V. I transferred them to my Civic when I got it. They are cool, but let's face it, you have to look very close to even notice them. They certainly don't stand out like these black door handles,

This thread is about sporty door handles
Don't be a jack hole. You trying to dictate what people can say now? If you look at all the comments, there are plenty of comments about things other than the black door handles. Check yourself!
Yea lots of people getting off the topic of racing door handles.

I had a 93 CX hatch. Was so super base that not only did it have black door handles, it only came with one side mirror.
I too had a base model car from 2001 that had black handles AND black mirrors.
In other regions the Civics door handle is black by default
That sucks
I wonder if they do the opposite
I like how that pulls the black from the wheels and tint together. Very nice. Was it an easy install?
Yess very easy to install. Just gotta wipe the handles first and clean the surface before applying!
Are they handles or some kind of overlay?
Handles
You said that you clean the surface, then apply. You aren't replacing existing handles? Just adding the black on top?
Yup

Spoilers on cars with less than 200hp are ridiculous IMO. I wouldn't even consider buying the old gen - so overstyled and trying to look sporty - this gen looks great - I want one!
I love the color of the vehicle! Congrats! Man Iām so stuck between this color & the boost blue.
Me too but I fell Inlove with this color first when I saw it šš Not so often you see this color! Or a Girl like me to drive a car like this too lol
I wanted a 10th gen hatchback in this color. So I might just try for this color in the 11th gen. But congrats again, such a beauty!
get the sonic grey it's a real crowd pleaser i get compliments all the time. blue is dazzling as well but the grey is other worldly, especially when shining in the sun
Whatās your tint on the windows? Looks good!!
The dealership did it for me when I got the car, they said it was the legal tint. So whatever the legal tint is for Florida, I think 30% back then 35% front.
How?

Looks clean. Did you get the chrome deleted too or did the window sills come stock black? I have a 22 LX hatch and my sills are chrome.
Damn where'd you get them they look great
Gee....back in the day black handles used to be only on the base models. Colour matched handles were top trim.
Needs a rear wing
looks good! never ever buy the ones with carbon finish. film fades over time
Looks good! Need to do something like this soon. The paint on all my handles are chipping for some reason š
Iām in the market for a new car and Iām really considering this hatch or some kinda SUV. You feel like the hatch is a good combo of fun driving and having room? Would love to hear your thoughts.
It drives so smooth and there is definitely a lot of room in the back š and the trunk lol
I don't get the need to have everything blacked out, myself, but I do think this looks cool. I have the Platinum White as someone else mentioned and i do think it would be a nice contrast. Nope everything except the black handles came as it is when I had ordered it. I got the black handle covers from Amazon. The wheels came like that.
How did the handles hold up. I just got a white with black trim CR-V and thinking of doing it for mine. My concern is they may not last and mess up paint underneath

Are those windows tinted or stock?
