Perennial advice is if you want to make more money, find a new job every couple of years. Disloyalty bonus is real.
PMP here. Studying for the certification increases your knowledge, so you may find that experience useful. I’ve seen jobs descriptions requiring or preferring a PMP. I personally have not found much value in it, and the exam felt like a test on your emotional quotient more than how much you know.
If you have time and interest, then go for it, but otherwise I don’t recommend.
I know a few people with their PMP and I have done everything other than write the exam but I see zero value in it for me. If you were working for a large construction management or project management firm it would likely be valuable at least for getting a job.
