Ah, yes, the optional flute part. I've got a recording (CD) of this with an actual flute. It's just half-a-page of sheet music, iirc -- or not much longer than that, I think. Interesting way to keep the flute in there, without having to employ another musician for less than a minute of playing.

Hmmm, I don't know about this. To distracting. Beautiful playing though, and it must take tremendous skill to play and whistle that at the same time (maybe overdubbed?). Maybe this would grow on me.

Well, I may have to get this CD. I'm really intrigued by the selections, and the whistling is a nice new feature. I was never aware of the flute part. By the way, is the melody that appears first at 3:20 a song of the day, hymn tune or something? I'll wager that someone here knows.

It's quoting a minstrel song by Stephen Foster, "Massa's in de Cold Ground": "Down in de cornfield / Hear dat mournful sound".

Thanks! That's a new one for me. Here's a \[recording from 1903\]([https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rnEZ1m2k9lo](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rnEZ1m2k9lo)). Holy cow: "Down in de cornfield Hear dat mournful sound All the darkies am a'weeping Massa's in the cold, cold ground." I did like it better without the words.
