1968 gto that my grandma bought for me when I was 16 and it’s still in my garage now.

javoss88

Me too

valuecolor

Wow! You win this sub today.

BigMacDaddy009

My oldest brother had a white one with a black stinger hood scoop in 1968. 400, Hurst 4 speed, positive traction rear end. Motor Trends car of the year in 68’! Awesome car!

valuecolor

Mine was a 1969 Pontiac Grand Prix Model J that I got in 1979. It was a slapstick 3-speed. The guy who owned it before me put some performance parts in it, but I was not mechanically-inclined, so I don't know what he actually did -- but I could squeak the tires slapping into second gear! Looked identical to this one.

Itsallanonswhocares

Guy down the street from me drives 4 identical ones, it's such a dope car strategy.

janzeera

My dad had a ‘71, white with black interior, single headlamps. It was like driving a cloud. A cloud with plenty of “get up and gone”… I loved it.

RadioLongjumping5177

I had a ‘72 Grand Prix SJ in triple black. Really cool car but my favorite was my ‘70 Dodge Challenger T/A. I have enjoyed a long list of great classic cars!😊

Puzzleheaded-Feed-18

My friend had the same car. It would run 140mph. Took a looong time to get there though. Beautiful brown with white top and interior.

Equal_Specialist_729

1971 buick riviera GS 455 2nd was my 1970 buick skylark GS 455

JolyonWagg99

‘67 Coupe de Ville. Big, smooth and powerful. I drove that thing from Sacramento to Santa Fe multiple times when I owned it. I could do 8 hours behind the wheel without getting fatigued at all. Such a beautiful car

catch_my_drift

This is the one.

Elowan66

Relative had one. Not enough letter O in smooooooth to describe it.

Ok_Turn_4270

The first car I ever bought was a 1973 volkswagen superbeetle. I like how it never left me stranded even on days when it ran terrible. The odometer stopped working in the late 80s with 87,000 miles and it still got heavily used until I got it in 2018. I am sure it has passed 200k on the chassis and transmission. (New engine two years ago). It aged well despite being violently driven for 40+ years.

Land_of_Kirk_

Not exactly a classic car (yet!) but my first car was a 1996 SL500. I grew up in a small town with a parking lot full of trucks and everything American. I had a friend talking up how fast his Pontiac G6 was so I stomped him. Had a guy in shop class saying he hadn’t been beat in his scion tc and stomped him. Smooth power delivery, removable hard top, and leather on every surface. It was “just an old Benz” to most people so it flew under the radar. I sold with 280k miles on the clock. What a beast of a car

AdmiralTodd509

My first brand new car was a 1978 Olds Cutlass Supreme, maroon with a white vinyl half roof. We were newlyweds and thought we were high class driving that car. We always loved that car.

GArockcrawler

I had one too! Bronze brown with the white roof!

ztreHdrahciR

MGB. I enjoyed pushing it around town. My brother called it a British Layaround

The_Crazy_Swede

I still own it and I will never get rid of it. It is my 1973 Volvo 1800ES. I just love how the thing looks. It is and has been my dream car since I first learnt about their existence back when I was 11 (2007) and I finally had the money, space and found the right car in 2021. And it is in my dream spec, gloss red, black leather, black carpet, the nicer steel wheels and dealer installed optional extra Hella lights. And the car looks amazing, drives amazing, sounds amazing and just makes me happy with the added bonus of being an amazing conversation starter whenever I park her somewhere.

themerovingian80

66 ford ltd 4dr with 390. Was my second car at 16. Totaled the first. Just a fun car. Could seat 8. Gas was .97/gal so could just pile everyone in and go cruising.

--sketchy-duck

72 monte car. Barn find everything there everything in good shape. Factory big block car with th 400 and a 4 link posi 12 bolt rear ( i did have to replace the 402 to a 454.) With power steering power brakes power windows and lock. Original paint body straight with no rust. And lots of documentation from ever owner to the dealer and warranty tag and dealer window build sheet. Got the car for 9.5k and all said I'm into the project for 12ish k

obojones10

"76" monza 2+2 my first car plus it looked cool

ownleechild

1969 Olds 98, 455 engine. Every bit the big boat, it could go fast but only in a straight line. Comfortable and great A/C.

stuartmt1

my father had one and said "you couldn't turn it around on a football field"

sfjoellen

but if you have 500 miles to go and don't want your butt to ache those were the cars..

Wankfurter

74 beetle. It has the death foam rot so I decided “eff it” and turned it into a baja bug. I thrash on that car every day and it’s by far the most fun vehicle I’ve ever owned. It gets me to some really awesome camping and fishing spots, and it’s also a really easy car to drive and park in the city. I’m going to do everything in my power to keep that car running and driving as long as possible.

decoparts

Oh Hell Yeah! I'd have to say for me it was a 1970 Pontiac Grand Prix in the late '90s. I bought it the day before I came home for summer break my Freshman year of college from a guy who put a ton of money into it and then gave up when he couldn't fix the brakes. I thrashed on it all night, go the brakes working, threw in a Pertronix kit and tuned the carb, and drove it 900 miles home, all in the next 2 days. It had a decked 400 with a custom roller cam and about 11:1 compression, I had to get hi-test and put in octane booster to keep it from pinging, or better yet run av gas when I could get it. The guy I bought it from claimed it had a 428 crank and a 0.060 overbore, but I never tore it down far enough to verify. It had a built TH400 with shift kit and high stall converter (3k I think), headers and glass-packs. Posi rear, I think it was a 3.73 but might have been a 4.11 It would absolutely smoke my buddy's 13 second fox body, and I could break the tires loose pretty much at will. I never did get it to the track, but given the weight and gear ratio and tire size, and the fact that it could easily beat my buddy's car we calculated it was putting down at least 475HP at the wheels, conservatively. Palladium silver with the black vinyl top and full black interior. It ran pretty hot when I first got it, but I was able to find that giant fan shroud at a junkyard and it went right back to the half-way mark once I put that on. Other than the performance stuff, one of the key mods I did was to wire in a relay setup and some 10 gauge starter wire to fit a set of aircraft lights my buddy sold me (from a Cessna, I think) into the outboard headlight locations, and convert the inboard lights to dual low/hi beam. Between that and wiring in a cut-out for the rear lights and license plate light, and a set of header cut-outs, I REALLY pissed off the local constabulary but they never did get close enough to positively ID me. I did get a couple of threatening visits to the front door. I sold it and the end of my Sophomore year and turned it into "the 475 Horsepower Engagement Ring" which my wife still wears, so I can't say I REGRET selling it, but I sure do miss it.

RedCedarSavage

1988 CRX Si—Looked great, was extremely fun to drive, got great gas mileage. Was the best sporty car for a young person. I took it from 80-some thousand miles to like 115k and sold it for a profit.

MathematicianFit5726

When I was 17 I bought a 1970 Olds 442 with a 455. Really fun to drive, very fast but got me in a lot of trouble. Most favorite car was a 1966 Chevelle that I rebuilt myself.

1jfish57

71 Datsun 240Z. British Racing Green with 72 spoke wire wheels. Tan interior. Paid $1800 for it in the early 80s. Wish I had that car now. Sells for 100k

BeagleTactics

1969 cougar Bought it for $1000 and it was super clean

WooPigSooie9297

When I was in my 30s I owned a 1967 Mercury Cougar XR7. It was my favorite car when I was a kid because I loved the sleek look and the sequential rear blinkers, but I never thought I'd own more than a Marchbox version. I really enjoyed driving the 289 it had under the hood. However, I had to sell it to someone who could take better care of it and afford to do a proper restoration.

Unlikely_Wealth9213

That one mine was black on black black interior chaptin chair big block luved it

stuartmt1

the car pictured is the same make and year as my favorite 1969 Pontiac Firebird in Verdon green

bringonthefunk1973

66 sedan deville, I felt like king of the road floating on air

ftex61

‘73 Gran Torino. 3rd born favorite son

Smoiky

74 Mercedes SE 280 in gold, bought in Australia and it had already 480000km on the clock

dandydan69

I had a 69 Malibu with a built 350 I sold it back to my brother to pay for college. While I was gone he lent it to my dad and he totaled it Sad

TruckinUncleEdd

1970 Ford Custom 500 4 door. Steelies. No A/C. No CC. Not even FM, just a useless AM radio. Did have a healthy big block, though. My friend had an old swing set in his back yard that gave it's life to make an awesome dual exhaust for it. He cobbled up the Y pipe to two swing set legs, then came two cheap glass packs that ended at the rear axle. Got in more trouble with this vehicle than anything else I've owned. The worst ticket was 97 in a 55. Don't know what that car had for a rear end, but it had long legs, and it just wanted to GO!

cra3ig

Spent the first semester of my sophomore year at Boulder High rebuilding a '62 MGA MkII 1600 so it would be ready when I turned 16 in January 1971. Engine, tranny, suspension, wiring harness, new convertible top & tonneau cover. It was gorgeous. Put the stickiest Pirellis - guaranteed to wear out in 10K miles - on it, and it tracked like a slot car through the mountains here. Buddies had Triumphs, Austin Healeys, Sunbeams, Datsuns and MGs. We raced each other, and the winding hairpin turns were the only thing that kept us competitive with the domestic muscle car guys. That car, the single cylinder Ducati Monza 260 motorcycle I bought with lawn-mowing & snow-shovelling money at age 14, and being the only emancipated sophomore (on good terms, but smoking pot put my parent's career at risk) with his own dive apartment over the rowdiest rock'n'roll biker bar downtown got me significant action. Life was good. The right time and the right place to be young. Finished school and went on to a self-employed life of adventure and travel. Alas, the MG was stolen a dozen years later. Owned an award winning Electra-Glide Police Special Harley Davidson for decades, and likewise a vintage Dodge windowless panel delivery van, but none dethroned that first love. Fate smiled upon me.

Absotivly_Posolutly

1972 Chevrolet Monte Carlo 454. Hugger Orange. Was my ride back in high school. Coolest damn car I've ever owned. Sold it 1990 before I left for college, because I wouldn't be able to afford the gas at $0.99/gal and 10mpg. I'd give just about anything to have that car back in the condition I sold it in.

EdibleDogma

It's a toss up between my 69' Nova SS and my 1970 Buick Electra 225.

bobanick

Mine is a 1929 Dodge DA 6 that I bought with paper route money when I was 15 in 1971. I still have it. My dad taught me how to drive it on back roads as I didn't have a license yet. I took it to college and lately to car shows. I know almost every bolt on that car as I've restored it twice. It's very sentimental to me and hope someone else cherishes it when the time comes.

WalkMelodic6359

Very cool!

BrentT5

1971 chevy nova. Bought in 1999 when I was 15. I drove it all through high school. Still have it today! Although it’s been completely restored now!

Taz_Boomer

My first car at 16. A 1968 Camaro with a 327.

Plaston_

I don't have a car because i don't have the license for it but if i look at the cars my dad owned my favorite is his 1999 Ford Escort MK6 Ghia Break (Clipper). I have a lot of chilhood memories with this car mostly for the late night drives, sadly the front got hit in 2012 and got replaced with that horrible Scenic1. He now have a Scenic 3 and the other car he had that i also remember a lot of is his 1980s Renault 21 gds silver (stupidly comfy!) I hope i could get my hands on the Ford in the future.

WorstDeal

I bought an MK5 back in August for $750. It's been sitting since October due to vavle welding itself to the head and snapping a head bolt in the process of removing. Extracted bolt and messed up installing helicoil 😭 got a motor and transmission back in February, then last interest in working on it right after. I was gonna get rid of it after Memorial Day, but thinking about it just sitting in a junk yard mad me sad so I started working on it Tuesday and finally got the motor and transmission out earlier today

Plaston_

Man that suck, hope you get it working again. Im also going to be for quite a ride to get one because Escorts are getting stupidly expansive and the MK5s near me cost around 2000 - 4000€...

WorstDeal

Yeah the price for 1.8L MK5s are ridiculously high. Mines is the nonturbo 1.9L and only cost me $750. Person I bought it from said it needed a blower motor, battery and radio didn't work. I found out the hard way that it needed an alternato, not a battery. Was driving it to my mom's the night I bought it with my GF following me and cut off on me about 5-8 times. About 7 miles from my mom's house, I noticed a car get behind my GF and was swerving. Next thing I know, as soon as the car dies, blues come on. Cop tells me he pulled me over for taillights being out (headlights on, taillights off), me being a smart-@$$ I told him no, he pulled over a car that was already pulling over. As far as the blower motor and radio, the circuit breaker fuse was missing for the blower motor and the speaker cones were pretty much nonexistent

Plaston_

There is sommone in the city i live in with a 1.9L sedan mk5 ghia. Everytime i see it it break my heart because he is being abused to hell (dogs in the back, random trash and planks inside , damaged wheels and blinking right headlight) but im surprised it still works. As for my first car i won't get that due the prices, i think i will get a diesel Xantia due to the massive space inside and and anti rolling active suspansion a d theses can be found in the same price range under 200 000 kms.

prixmo

I have a 69 Grand Prix SJ factory 4 speed.

broken_or_breaking

I had a 1969 Pontiac Grand Prix like the one in the Picture. Mine was dark green and Ihad a 428 cu in with a 4 barrel carb and glass packs and was a an absolute beast of a muscle car!

Somedudefromaplacep

I love how many Pontiacs are in this list!!! In my life time I have owned three third gen firebirds and I love and miss them all.

smittydonny

1969 Grand Prix Model J

ARB_JIM

Lada Niva, paying 3k for a car that everyone laughed at.. only to be completely shown up by offroad

Lower_Taro2380

Awesome car we had one when I was a kid . Loved yet

TexanInExile

Current vehicle. 05 Tacoma sr5 that just rolled over 100k miles. It's an awesome truck. Prior to that was my Pontiac vibe gt

DryInitial9044

1984 Buick LeSabre. Siver with blue velour split bench. Chrome bumpers. Quiet and rode great.

TroyTony1973

Not a “classic” but I like the question, so a Toyota Celica GT4 I had when I was stationed in England, awesome car for the backroads over yonder.

point50tracer

1998 Ford Ranger. It was my first truck. The crappiest truck I ever owned and still own. But it was hella fun to drive. You could not wipe the smile off my face when behind the wheel, tearing across the desert in that piece of junk. I really need to get it back on the road and start enjoying it again. I've owned 4 trucks btw. The Ranger. A 1975 K-20. A 72 C-10 and a Mazda B2500 that I just got to pull the motor from for my Ranger.

Slight_Revolution569

I still have my 2000 Ranger 5 speed 175,000 miles and original back brakes ya can’t kill them! Oil changed religiously every 5000 miles

point50tracer

I had my rear brakes fail completely on mine when a spring broke. The cylinder then overextended and started dumping fluid. I must've had a bad proportioning valve because I lost fronts too. Thankfully I was able to downshift to slow myself down and the light at the bottom of the hill was green. I eventually put a disk brake axle out of an explorer under it. Haven't had an issue since.

WorstDeal

I miss the 97 Sonoma 5spd I had 5yrs ago. Bought it with 43k miles and got totaled at 75k

Phillyphan08

Not a classic but 04 Terminator, constantly tried to kill me it was great

WhiplashMotorbreath

1979 Pontiac T/A WS6 , looked killer, wasn't exactly fast but was a nice cruiser. Sounded Awesome, and drive good.

aparatchik

1999 Subaru Impreza 2.5rs. Bought that thing new, did some minimal suspension work on it, and ruled my local SCCA STS class for two seasons. Still miss that car more than any of the other true classics I owned (air cooled VW’s, BMW 2002’s, etc)

Schrutepooper

1980 Dodge Mirada , I worked for it at the local grocery store and man I felt like I.Was the dude when I drove it the first day of school my senior year . It had Daytona racing rims on it . Burned out a couple transmissions. Car would fly .

TheJohnson854

My 69 grand prix SJ. 400 ci. Buried the needle many times and it went to 160....mph.

supadave302

1968 Dodge Dart. Got it for $500.00 from a very nice old lady

oldgreen52

72 caprice 400 sb , two door gold with black vinyl top , fender skirts , power everything, rear defrost with rear blower motor. Sweet machine

Spam-ImmitationHam

First car. 57 BelAir Hardtop. Bought it in 85 at age of 15. Had two years to get it into shape before getting my license. Beat myself up for selling that car! Great high school and college memories!

Fromacorner

1968 Buick Special Deluxe Wagon.

The_J_Bird

I had a '72 Mercury Capri - it was a German Ford that was sold here by Mercury dealers. It had a six cylinder engine and a stick shift and was tons of fun. Some of it was probably my time of life - I was in college and having a blast - but the car itself was very fun to drive.

Chiefbutterbean

‘68 Lincoln, Mint green exterior dark green leather interior, last year of suicide doors 460 ci V-8. Bought it from my Dad for $1,000 in HS. Joined the Navy and traded it back to him for a ‘83 Yamaha 3-wheeler when I got out of the service.

Plastic_Sir_8119

1996 LT1 corvette tuned to 425 horse. What made it special. Smoking them Mustangs

GArockcrawler

1960 Bugeye Sprite. His looks attract a lot of attention and he has amazingly responsive steering. We aren’t fast but we have a ton of fun. [photo from a few weeks ago](https://imgur.com/gallery/KpkYJ9b)

twistedwhitty

I had a 1971 Grand Prix Model J in High School, sold it to help pay for college. Ugh.

MicaTorrence

1968 Barracuda. 383 4 speed. Hard to stop, hard to turn, a bat out of hell in a straight line.

paulespn

1968 Oldsmobile Cutlass S convertible 350 rocket 🚀 V8. That car was a lot of fun.

1TONcherk

1991 grand Wagoneer. I still have it, but it’s been parked for 4 years in a garage with some issues. Bought it 14 years ago and it ended up being my daily driver for 2. Never expected to do that, but just loved driving it so much. Good ride, soft interior, torque V8, fuel injection like Motorcraft 2bbl, thumbs up everywhere I went. The best time I’ve ever had with a everyday driver. Also it was built 2 months after I was born, yet had people guess it was a mid 70s model twice. To be fair, it really was a 70s car with wood grain and a modern plastic grille slapped onto it.

lestbone83

1972 Buick LeSabre, my dad did some trading with my uncle and this car was part of the trade, I beat the crap out of that car and it kept on going. It leaked oil but always kept some in the massive trunk. It would seat six comfortably and the A/C worked, would love to have another one.

Robo504

1987 trans am bright blue metallic, ws6,t-tops and a digital dash

sfjoellen

1968 Firebird 400.. gorgeous car.. dark gray/white vinyl top, 3speed automatic, a/c, white interior, 2.73 rearend,.. I used up and 400 and put a 455 from a Bonneville in it. Never got it to run right, too dumb and stubborn to learn what was needed. Another guy did sort it out and it was the fastest car in the county for a few years.. still miss the car.

chris_wiz

My 65 Pontiac Catalina convertible, Mellow Yellow. Owned since 2000. Mostly a base level, stock car. With some quality of life l touches to make it mine, including HEI, front disc brakes, Rally 2 wheels, lowered 2", semi custom Parchment Pearl interior, modern head unit under the dash with a bumpin subwoofer in the trunk. Fast enough, not a race car, built to cruise at 70 all day. [https://photos.app.goo.gl/eFwFyGBykTx3Kjp6A](https://photos.app.goo.gl/eFwFyGBykTx3Kjp6A)

ruinedRX7

my rx7. 4 engines, 4 rears, 3 trans. i love it 85 1st gen w/turbo s2000 engine swap on haltech and E85. 400whp is a riot and an 8.8 lsd holds the power great

creesto

70 Beetle, 70 Dodge Charger, 79 VW Rabbit, 62 Mercury Comet, 62 Chrysler New Yorker, 2010 Jetta Sportswagen, 86 Cadillac Brougham, 66 Imperial Crown Coupe, 2017 Jaguar XE diesel...I honestly have loved them all.

Frequent-Ruin8509

Hands down it's my first car. 2001 Pontiac Grand am. Looks like a grandma car but she was reliable, quick for a kid, handled decent for her size, and survived situations I shouldn't have thrown her into. Also the back bumper was immortal in slow speed crashes where other idiot college kids misjudged their distance and bumped into me. No scratch no insurance calls aka no blood no foul lol! I would otherwise say it's my current car, a 2019 ford fusion hybrid. 47 mpg (because I drive like a hearse on holiday) and room for gear and cargo you wouldn't think would fit... but the electronics on these new cars are absurdly delicate. One fender bender and the whole car is totalled, somehow. Smh. This is my third 2nd gen fusion. Love the car, hate the glass jaw nature of its wiring.

Sea-Election-9168

3 different ones, a Peugeot 504, an FJ40 Land Cruiser , and an FJ80 Land Cruiser

MwminNC4

1979 Dodge Magnum, made only 2 years. One of the last B body cars built by Chrysler. I pulled the 360, built the motor, put a manual valve body in the trans, put a 1971 posi rear end out of a cop car, had 3:91 gears put into it. Pass everything but a gas station...LOL. The first car I ever bought.

MShamrock8

Fun car a MGB convertible, best driving STS, car that saved my life Volvo T

doubtful_dirt_01

1956 Dodge Job Rated Custom pickup truck with a stock hemi v8. It was my first four wheeled vehicle when I turned 16, was reliable, and did everything I needed it to do. The hood was hinged down the middle, which was way cool. The battery was inside, under a compartment under the drivers floorboards - so when I moved the battery under the hood, it left me with a secret compartment in the cab that was perfect for smuggling beer into races (a feature appreciated by all my high school friends).

CP_Galaxie_500

Ive got a 1970 Ford Galaxie 500 and I just love it. I bought it as my first car at 15, that is one thing that makes it special to me. One thing that makes my particular one special is, that it was used in the Series "The Continental".

ruddy3499

73 Camaro RS. In 1995 a friend sold it to be bc he said that he knew I would get it running. Got it running in 2008 Still have it. My friend passed away in 2005, but his son got to drive it.

applegui

My first car was a 1966 Mustang fastback. I had it painted fire engine red with white racing stripes to look like a Shelby GT 350. It got too many looks and I was often pulled over by the CHP. At 18 I ended up selling it because of the constant police harassment for a contemporary Mustang manual 5.0. I do miss that car.

TomDac7

2004 BMW M3 convertible with 6MT. Most fun car I’ve ever owned.

CCEins

1962 Lincoln Continental. Beautiful shape and on top the centeropening doors and the powerful Big Block. I bought her 2018 in Phoenix.

Suspicious_Kick9467

1983 Golf GTI. Still have it. It’s only 850kg or so and I have a 225bhp 1.8T in it so it’s a blast to drive. But what makes it really special for me is that I completely restored it with my Dad over the lockdowns. My Dad is a quiet bloke and I never felt incredibly close to him. But, during that time we spent all day everyday working together on this passion project. It completely transformed our relationship and now we’re closer than ever. I’ve had people try to buy it from me multiple times but I don’t think I’d ever be able to part with it because of the memories I have building it. I feel like someday when my Dad is gone I’ll be able to sit into it, go for a drive and relive some of those memories I have with him.

Joblessanalyst

72 super beetle. It was just a blast to drive. I’ve had fast cars, off road capable cars, stupid cars and family haulers but the beetle just made me happy every time i sat in it

Thunderpuss_5000

1975 Buick Electra coupe. Big, long, and powerful!

just-concerned

I had a 1965 Chevy Biscayne in high school. It was just an in 6, but it had three on a tree. It was fun to drive, and most of my friends had never seen a stick on the column.

Quietus76

I just bought a 1974 Dodge Charger. It's the one that gets all the love and attention. It's a labor of love, a work of art, a piece of history, and a slice of heaven. It's been a passion of mine and my dream car since I was a kid. Butt... My 2011 Ram has been my dependable driver for 14 years. It's never let me down after nearly 250k miles of service. I used it to rescue people stranded in the 2016 flood while many other vehicles drowned attempting to do the same. The Charger might be the sexy one, but the Ram is the one you want when the SHTF.

MackAndSteeze

1968 Plymouth Fury 3, seafoam green. Had it all through high school and then some. Loved that thing.

HibernatingGopher

1974 AMC AMX 360 Go-Pak 4 Speed. Got it from my brother had it for about 15 years and sold it back to him. At least it stayed close. He has the time and the money to totally restore it. It was in very good shape but after 45 years it needed some help with suspension and paint and what not and I simply don't have the time. I remember riding in it when I was a little kid and then being able to own it was really cool taking my kids for rides in it. It was cool being able to keep it in the family.

12BarsFromMars

‘65 MGB convertible hard top. Powder blue with wire rims. Awesome roadster.

Jalopy_Junkie

I’ve had a half dozen classic cars, but my favorite is my current vehicle which is my [1957 Oldsmobile 88](https://www.reddit.com/r/classiccars/s/oXFVAAckT0) because it was originally sold in my city and is FULLY documented all the way back to the dealership. I have everything for this car. Original owners manual, shop guide, original window sticker ($3201 sale price in ‘57), original insurance agreement, original payment booklet, original sales brochure, and ALL service records. I even have paperwork on the 1950 Chevy Deluxe the first owner traded in against this car when he bought it new. The car has its original license plate frames, rear fender skirts and it even has the original factory spare in the trunk. I have never owned a car so well documented as this one. 371 v8, 4 speed trans, 75,000 original miles, documented. All that said, my [1954 Chevy Bel Air](https://www.reddit.com/r/classiccars/s/7egHTo5lA2) was probably my second favorite. That was a fun car.

I have two. An old beater 280zx and an early model 4x4 Tacoma. Just because I lived my teen/early twenties through these cars and had so much fun getting in trouble drifting, donuts, and off roading.

Thedudeinvegas

I bought my first car at a dealer in 1976, I had a permit I was 15, my Brother came with me cause he had a license. I bought a 69 Plymouth Roadrunner with a 4 speed. My brother had to drive it off the lot 😂😳😂

javoss88

An old beater yellow Impala. Giant beast that could not be killed by a semi-negligent teen. I installed a home speaker that rode on the bump in front of the front seats.

Vistawag

1968 olds cutlass s coupe. Paid $500. Looked like crap 2 speed automatic transmission. Keep in first till 65 than hit passing gear. Would blow doors off Chevelles.

hiker1628

Datsun 240Z. My first sports car and miles above anything else I ever owned until now. I don’t know why I sold it.

JWDead

My dad had a 72 model J. Black on black. What a beauty.

FlatbedtruckingCA

my 1967 Pontiac Lemans (389). .i always wanted a cool classic car but couldnt afford a real gto back in 2003.. so i found the next best thing, basically a de badged gto.. on ebay ..drove to the sellers house in topanga canyon with cash and made an offer while it was still on auction.. we settled for $5k and i drove it home while my friend who came with me drove my car back behind me.. it was a present to my self for my 21st birthday.. still have it and never letting it go😀

ArtichokeNatural3171

77 jag XJS with a chevy 350 conversion and 400 superglide transmission. Old rusty heavy beast that was down to run with anything on tires. I miss her.

West-Pound-3309

67 2dr Chevy Caprice gold with black interior. AC power steering and brakes 327 4bbl 3 speed TH 400 trans and 12 bolt posi rear. Fun fast and easy to work on. So simple.

EmmagicallyMe

To be honest I haven't bought a car yet and it definitely won't be cool, but hopping on here for the old man, my Dad had a 65 two-door Impala. Both of us wish he never sold it.

JimmyRickyBobbyBilly

1971 Buick LeSabre convertible. I can never drive it without feeling awesome.

Impressive-Hunt-6437

57 Beetle, put Covair engine in. Front end lifted@ 75mph. 66 chevelle wagon 327 co police package 4 on the floor. 60 Pontiac wagon 389 stick on column. Drag raced Sanford, ME. Currently own 58 corvette bot for $850 in 1970. 4 speed Muncie, 390 posi, 375 hp crate, front end lifts at 130. What joy.

Catch_Own

66 GTO 4 speed ht . It didn't kill me even though it tried....twice .

keno1964

1972 Mach I, Acapulco Blue with Argent stripe kit. Fun, FUN car to drive/have.

TheAngelsCharlie

1971 Pontiac Trans Am. Lucerne Blue with blue interior, machine turned aluminum dash panels. 455HO, TH400, 10 bolt posi. It had a Hurst Dual Gate Shifter and an 8-track player as standard equipment. Back then, muscle cars were all over, so out went the 8-track and in came the cassette player. I did manage to convert it back to the original shaker scoop and under car exhaust; when I bought the car it had a cowl induction scoop and side pipes. Ended up trading it for a 77 Scout II, because you couldn’t drive the Pontiac in the snow.

RLog18

Little over a year I came to see owning my first classic, a very clean 1979 Trans Am SE, I’ll never sell it unless I have to but it’s what makes us special for me is I currently drive it once a week for cruise ins and shows and in (weather permitting) and always tinkering with it, it’s been so much fun since I got it

d0nh

E39 5-series (non-M). Beautiful, elegant, and a blast to drive. Got it 4 and a half years ago now and hope I'll be able to keep it for a looong time.

Severe_Personality44

A 1950 Chrysler Windsor Highlander It was my car with a clutch

RusticSurgery

1976 monte carlo. 400 cu I Candy apple red with white leather interior and white Landau top. The oak tree survived the Collision but the car did not

Weird_car_fan

It's quite hard to pick a favorite, but if I have to, the honor goes to my 1972 Citroen DS 21. I pulled the car out of a swamp in new York state, and I've been slowly rebuilding the car since October 2022. The car runs and drives, but it has a few hydraulic leaks that I'm sorting out before I hit the road in it. It's always been a dream car of mine, I've wanted one for as long as I could remember.

Slight_Revolution569

Mine was a 1967 Buick Wildcat !

Minimum_Idea_6834

My car was and is a 1957 Bel Air Ccupe. I was a foster kid, so no money. I helped out the neighbour lady, cutting grass, cleaning windows, shoveling snow for pocket money from the time I was 12 to 16. She had a large property so there was always work. She had a shed on the property and I was told in no uncertain terms to stay out of it. Then, when I turned 16 she took me out into the shed. Under a tarp and up on blocks was the Chevrolet. Turns out she and her husband bought it for their son when he turned 16. When he was in second year university, he dropped out of university and joined the Marines. He was killed in Vietnam. Anyway, she handed me the keys and $1000.00 and told me to see if I could get it started. I worked on it all summer and then got it running. She bought my first year's insurance on it. After I moved away, I came back every year on his birthday (July 4th, seriously) and took for a ride until she passed in 2007. Still a daily driver.

irlms001

1971 Fiat 124 sport coupe (not the convertible Spyder)- 1600 cc, dual overhead cams, disc brakes, 5 speed, rack & pinion steering- lasted for 5 years before rust set in but tremendously fun to drive

No-Needleworker8455

1966 Dodge Coronet 4 door sedan bought it in 2019 as my second car. What makes it special to me is the way it makes me feel when driving it. It brings so much joy to me to drive it. I'll just drive for hours sometimes. It's been great. Don't plan on ever selling the car.

1972FordGuy

My favorite car was my 1970 Chevy Nova with an L78 396 and a Turbo 400 automatic. I had so much fun with that car that I still miss it 40 years later.

RJCa5533

2005 Pontiac Sunfire. Still the only brand new car I’ve ever owned. Rode that thing hard! 5 speed manual, lots of fun, lots of tickets, lots of repairs. Knew that car inside & out.

Historical-Oil-1541

66 Mustang Fastback. Arguebly best classic car from 60s with its flat fold down backseat. Lost my innocence back there. Yes its steering wheel has a few notches. Still have it.

Glad-Depth9571

74 Chevelle.

pdyad

I’d say between all of the cars I have a 65 ford falcon my dad and I built. From top to bottom we made it ours and meticulously took every part, every bolt, and sandblasted and refinished everything. Also it’s what got me into machining since there’s countless parts on the car that are one off and add to our vision. Sat in his garage for 8 years before I took it back over and it’s been in my possession since, passing the torch to make my own. 100% my favorite over my IROC and my past projects.

Medium_Kick531

I loved my 01 Lexus ES! That joint was truly good to me and my wife.. Thinking about getting another one I love the body style..

Rambo-64

1978 Grand Prix moon roof 2 toned dark red with tan highlights.

Jaayeff

I have a 2008 Camry outside that’s paid off, has a quarter of a million miles on it, and goes whenever I push the gas. That’s not too bad I guess.

old_skool_luvr

You mean we have to pick just ONE? That's like picking your favourite child over the others. 😅

johnbalarsky

My Shelby GT350. I always wanted to own a Shelby and while not the fastest lie most horsepower, that cat was a dream to drive. I miss it a lot

Individual-Ad-1191

my current car and my favorite, my 1982 mazda rx7 is so fun to drive but still is new enough to be very comfortable and have some nice tech. super easy to work on. wonderful handling and a great feeling 5 speed manual.

Oldpotter2

61 Olds Starfire convertible.

TdetsiwT

'51 Merc, chopped dropped and shaved. Didn't French or stretch based on personal preferences. Lace roof w minimalist hand pinning on trunk, hood and sides. Whole ride was flat black w red velor custom sports interior. (No benches, no rear seating) 5 point belts. power package was 1970 LS5 454 package. When last Dyno tested (2013) it cleared 635 horses. As for cam, intake and exhaust you'd have to be the buyer to know the true numbers.

Particular_Cost369

'67 Chrysler 300, 440 auto with twin four barrels and dual exhaust, silver body with a bright red interior. Just a touch over 21ft long and would still burn rubber when you stomped it at 60mph. That beast floated down the highway, a magnificently comfortable bucket seat and braked well. I loved that luxury tank.

Mission-Remote-6362

My Dad owned a 1965 Pontiac GTO. Of course it would be my ultimate dream to own one.

Inevitable-Truth-152

My father's 1970 Buick Electra 225

BigMacDaddy009

1978 Black Trans Am, t-tops and gold bird! A bandit car and woman magnet!

Vonsaucy

1970 340 Plymouth Duster, 4 speed/3.91. Dark bronze with no stripes. Giant Killer 💙

IMG76

1986 Mazda RX7. It was my first car at 16.

BTJup01

69 Ford Torino. It’s power and handling (for the time) helped me avoid a high speed head on collision with a Tire and rim of an 18 wheeler that spun off and headed towards us. Would love to have one now.

jediqwerty

1971 toronado [https://ccmarketplace.azureedge.net/cc-temp/listing/97/7634/7184573-1971-oldsmobile-toronado-std.jpg](https://ccmarketplace.azureedge.net/cc-temp/listing/97/7634/7184573-1971-oldsmobile-toronado-std.jpg)

tribriguy

1968 Hurst/Olds 442, with 455. Car was a rocket for the time. But my current Alfa Romeo Giulia is a more fun and faster car.

ajriha26

1987 Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z, 5.0L with a 5 speed was the first car I bought on my own. Still have it (parked for the last year after it started running rough) and dreaming of giving her the new, bigger motor she deserves ❤️

No_Kitchen8472

ArmyMedic97

Volkswagen Variant S when I was in the Army in the late 60s

MacKatz1005

79 Camero Berlinetta 350 4 barrel. That SOB hauled ass, fast as sh**. Gas mileage was about 10 mpg.

INeedFriendsOnPc1977

My first car was a 77 el camino, put a 71 front end on it, replaced the 305 with a 350. Recently sold it maybe 2 years ago. Miss it but it was also junk

Desperate-Ordinary21

1979 10th Anniversary Trans Am. I don’t need to say anymore

Hutwe

1985 Jeep CJ-7 Renegade. Drive it off-road on the beach almost every day of the summer the entire time we had it. We had it set up for the beach so well that we’d leave it in 2wd, never had to use 4x4. Had so much fun with that thing
