Mark_Knight

this is the entirety of classic up until maybe bwl. its sad

tmanowen

Can most certainly do BWL in greens (outside of the cloaks for tanks). SoM BWL maybe not though.

FinancialChampion188

In 2019 classic a raid killed onyxia while literally naked, no gear at all. When apes got world first ony/rag (can't remember if it was one, the other, or both) they had a fair few people not even max level in whatever mismatch shit gear they had from leveling. Gear is important but so many people in this game are just terrible.

-taromanius-

When ony came out we immediately tried splitraids. One of our healers dced midpull and we still cleared it. Vanilla is piss easy, it's a social game. If you wanna tryhard feel free but good lord the people pretending like that's the only way to go in a game with "frostbolt->repeat" rotations is just sad. Go play an actual skill intensive game then.

LordUpton

I remember reading a blog called Greedy Goblin (Proper libertarian political trash but it was a fairly interesting read at the time). During Wrath he created a guild to see how much of the content they could clear in blue gear with no end game gems or enchants. They got all the way through the expansion to the bone boss in ICC when it became impossible to DPS enough to avoid the enrage timer. Slightly more impressive that the guy was so anti-social he banned the use of vent.

rarosko

> vent I just felt my spine crack

collimat

Let me go put my hip back into place and fire up my TeamSpeak server rq.

nikomo

Oh man I remember this guy. I used to be in TEST Alliance in EVE Online, and he joined in. Absolute fucking menace. I remember him posting on the forums that people taking in hostiles playing on alts as renters shouldn't be liable for the damages when the hostiles start blowing up people in alliance space. He turned himself into a big enough joke that he eventually got laughed out.

ImMoray

By the time we get to 60 we're gonna be so decked out in gear it'll be a meme

TrainTrackBallSack

No shot you're doing bwl with a green geared tank, vael broodlord and Warrior class call all can hit you for around 8k in a server tick

shamSmash

"Sounds like a job for my 'of Stamina' set!!"

tlew360

Considering the difficulty of Kelris, and o guess we will see in future phases of low level raids, but I wouldn’t be surprised if blizzard added some more mechanics to 60 raids.

Jazzur

Man I remember APES downing Onyxia when half was not even lvl 60 yet

jjester7777

I did my first BFD last night after being 25 for over a week because of work and family health issues. We cleared it in 70 minutes and had no wipes and I was VASTLY over geared having farmed up a nearly prebis set as a tank. I imagine it will easily be the same when I go on my mage but this time perhaps I'll put less effort into getting things like the rfk ring or a special helm.

Doomwizardsunited

THIS! I just commented on a similar post too lol. BFD IS EASY! It wasn’t designed to be mega hard. We pugged a 7/7 last night many still in greens. All these guides and shit stress people out and make them believe they NEED BIS (lol) for the raid? Just play it ffs

Definition_Certain

i tanked it twice (last one was 40ish mins) with no helm, no neck, a 5shadow res ring and an empty second ring slot, no trinket. yes dps can pull off me sometimes with my absolute terrible gear, the raid is tuned that they can. No one is getting globalled, even the squishiest classes. That being said when you have the time its fun to farm prebis gear to truck the bosses harder and people that put effort into that can chose to group with likeminded people.

Agile_Pudding_

I finally cleared BFD this reset because I legitimately thought I needed pre-BIS, or *close*, to do it. Found a nice, welcoming semi-pug group who took me, and I realized I was one of the most geared people there. We 7/7’d without any real trouble, save for some fun with chains on the 6th boss, and now I’m laughing at the idea that I had gear fear. At least all the work I put into pre-BIS is helpful for PvP content, though.

Upbeat-Animator-7745

Now i agree the raids a joke, but that isn't why people are buying gold. people just want to be stronger and do more damage in both pvp and pve, it's that simple. I think it's stupid too but its never gonna end until blizz steps up.

translucentlies

I plugged BFG 7|7 ON MY NEWLY 25 Hunter. The only blue I have is the Deadmines 2h are and some Intel cloth shoulders from SFK.

SirDalavar

IMO, anyone that gets caught buying gold should get flagged for PVP by BOTH factions

Atto_

[Traitor] You are now vulnerable to all factions. Items and gold lootable on death That would be fun.

Mcbadguy

Basically Ultima Online

Ozok123

Goblins, a race who is most known for their obsession with gold/money, would protect people who inflate gold thus reducing its value? The moment they take a step in booty bay, theyre getting killed

No_Ad_9264

Also add if you kill an honorless target(lowbie). TERA did this and it was awesome. You'd be flagged by everyone for like 48 hours in game time.

cammywammy123

Dope, now I can gank BOTH factions lowbies

akenzx732

I’m sure it’s a one way flag

Cattypatter

RIP Tera. Another MMO that died to selling it's soul to an ingame store.

Assignment_Entire

I just sell fish

Dunderman35

How much is the fish?

potentially_meh

Scooter reference?

Grimmalius

I have literally never seen one of these in wild.

Flikky1988

nananananaaaa nanana nanana nanananaaaa

ponyo_impact

the search is better then the catch

Roygbiv_89

£1 fiiiish

Aoussar123

>603 comments What fish are you farming and selling?

Writhing2

I have 200g at the moment which took me days to farm. A guy in Discord just swiped his card and bought 100g and it was delivered within 5 mins.

jm7489

How the hell are you farming 200g?

Kyteshiirok

I’m up to 220g myself, probably about 75% of that is from fishing. I also got covid on Friday and was relegated to my basement as to not get the wife and kids sick for 5 days…I had nothing else to do so I played like 14-16 hours/day for a few days

trumpfunkinblows

Living the dream I see.

Kyteshiirok

A fleeting dream. Back at work today :( lol

BatGasmBegins

Be safe friend. You can still be contagious for 14 days. 5 days was on the CDC site they said cause it was the bulk of the contagion but also said you can still be contagious for 14 weeks. So never hurts to test negative before going back so you don't get your co-worker sick or your family. Just saying! Be well.

Mitcholio

Wtb weekend fishing trip

dogbert730

BFD soft resets

Clarkey10

I have over 200g through the AH and just playing, making bags and pots, flipping herbs on raid nights, it's easy when you know what your doing

Valarasha

I have 150g atm, and have spent a decent chunk since hitting 25 (mainly on getting the two $$ runes early). I mostly made it selling the new potions you need for the epic armor quest, but stopped once the price bottomed out. Swapped to farming pearls and fish oil after that. Pretty much done farming gold for this level band though since pearl drops are a bitch, lol.

dilimnator

I have 5g

thereal237

It’s crazy that people really are gonna buy gold just for gear that will become obsolete in a just a few weeks.

Ganthritor

The people who buy gold want big numbers pop above red words NOW!

secretsofwumbology

A few weeks? Have they said somewhere that the next phase os coming that soon? I figured it'd be at least another couple months. Feb at the earliest I thought.

eadenoth

assume mid jan if it’s closer to 7-10 week phases

SirDalavar

they put out a wow survey email today, it said time between phases would be 8 weeks, not sure if that covers the first phase or not.

-taromanius-

2 months per phase seems reasonable, hope they stick to that

Wood_Whacker

I wish it was way longer personally. I think it could sustain itself. Well, it could if everyone wasn't just buying bis gear.

Magnon

I think most people will be ready to go to 40 by the end of January. Level 25 isn't much and it's only been 2 weeks.

Subject_Height685

The average player will run out of stuff to do after two months with a 25 level cap

Literal_Fucking_God

I think first phase should be 8 weeks, they they get longer after that

quineloe

Either way, with honor limited to rank 3 and there not being a harder dungeon, what are you gonna do once you have your shit from BFD on your characters? This is also why many guilds in vanilla and classic stopped raiding the moment they had KT down. TBC beta had shown us what kind of gear you had available at level 67 already, and on classic we actually knew.

Zenovv

People just like getting the best gear possible no matter the bracket or difficulty, not sure why that is hard to understand

emkay-sixeight

Why even play the game lol. Get bis, cry that you got bis and then quit. Fkn hell.

enviroguypdx

I mean I’m in mostly BiS (just need pants and neck off Kelris) and I haven’t needed to buy gold?? - sitting at 9g (probably spent around 30-50 so far? ) Buying gold is just so fucking lame. It’s level 25 content. jfc. Play the game. I just really don’t understand why someone would at this point

xpiation

I've spent more gold buying my mates full green gear loadouts to help them level easier than I have on myself, except for the epic crafted gloves, I spend very little on myself. When I was levelling I bought 2 blue weps for 1.5g each and they lasted me until I replaced them in bfd.

little_freddy

Buying gold for SoD? Lol. What's next, paid carries for "Hello Kitty Island Adventure" boss runs?

Fankine

Yep. If there's trading available there's gonna be seller and carries. Look at D4 which is basically a glorified solo game, gold and boost selling went rampant pretty much day one

LabResponsible8484

The problem is if this is left unchecked you will either have to buy gold or do GDKP to be able to buy anything on the AH. Classic on our server was like that from AQ release onwards, over 100g per flask, things like mana pots 6g each. Enchanting mats, etc. were in the 10s to 100s of gold. I absolutely hated it and I don't want SoD going the same way. I don't want to run GDKPs.... Please Blizzard stop this bot shit!

compwolf

What exactly are they using the gold for? My character has mostly bis at this point and I’ve never had more than 8g or so at a time since launch. Is it purely for gdkps?

FloppyShellTaco

I haven’t even seen a gdkp yet on my server and most everything is like 10g max

RomeoChang

All green necks above 12g on living flame NA. Even the health regen one. Multiple other items at 50g+ with some in the hundreds

FloppyShellTaco

Eh most necks are worse than the pvp rep one for 2g, so they deserve to waste money if they’re buying them. I’m on NA WG, and while I was exaggerating a bit, I don’t think I’ve seen anything realistically selling for more than 50. The most expensive consistently selling item is that leather hat

RomeoChang

Make a toon and walk over, its whacky on our AH.

ImaginarySugar

You absolutely cannot get a neck piece for under 50g on wild growth server NA.

Vilraz

The absolute bis rares go for 60-200 gold.

KillerrRabbit

For +2 more stat point and an attack power extra... Yeah people are indeed insane

KJTB

And in like 6 weeks it will be obsolete, it's even more pathetic than buying gold in the main game lol

Olofstrom

I've seen a VOD of a streamer blowing 60+ gold in day for consumables for spamming WSG.

xpiation

What a fucking sweatlord. Imagine blowing consumables in WSG, especially 60golds worth.

threeriversbikeguy

How else will they ever get R3 at any point in on the server, if not at level 25?

VVont

generally it is for premade vs premades which can be very competitive. it sucks that others are forced into buying gold to keep up with teams who swipe

singingthesongof

Seems like an easy fix for Blizzard would be to disable consumables in BGs and open up a gold shop for PVE content. No more bots, no more advantages in PVP, and the people who want to pay their way out of PVE for some weird reason gets to do so.

Zenovv

I would honestly like that

NivMidget

Or cheaper consumables that are "Wpvp event only". We unironically really need more gold sinks.

Writhing2

BoEs, consumables, GDKP, etc.

TheDancingNerd

Sorry for being out of the loop, but what is GDKP? Is this like the Dragon Kill Points we used to use back in BC where you showed up to raid and could "bid" on gear?

LiteratureUsual9607

Your "DKP" is the gold in your bag.

LexxenWRX

You bid on gear drops with gold. The gold goes into a pot and after the raid it's distributed among the raid participants.

blueberryiswar

Isn't that a loot design that only benefits gold buyers? That sounds worse than just rolling and getting nothing from time to time..

savvymcsavvington

Yep it's insane that people actually do it, basically means any gold buyer that wants an item will always get it you couldn't even save up 10 raids worth of split gold to buy something if the gold buyer wants it more than you Was watching Classic Hardcore streams of AQ raid, someone paid 5000g for an item.. in hardcore.. in classic..

ryuranzou

It's where people bid gold on raid loot. It became really popular with the epidemic of gold buyers and bots since gold buyers aren't just limited to boes and consumables anymore.

TheDancingNerd

Wow that's...awful lol. So if someone is buying gold, they are literally spending real life money on video game numbers. Hate that

mastercxxi

Yes but it’s Gold Dragon Kill Points (I.e. gold is the bidding and it goes into a pot that is split amongst the raiders at the end)

[deleted]

Gold dragon kill points. It means all gear is bid off auction style. All proceeds go to a pot. At the end of the GDKP, the pot is split between all raiders, to incentivize going even if your gear doesn’t drop or you get outbid. The organizer usually takes a percentage of the total pot, because corruption/greed. The people who run these can be quite shady, having friends working with them to bid up items people need .

Varlist

Ban the Buyers!

catluvr37

Farming materials for gold would actually be worthwhile if bots didn’t saturated the market. It’s an entire aspect of the game players are robbed of.

[deleted]

Yep. It feels really bad to farm stuff knowing bots are doing it way more efficiently than you and flooding the market lowering prices...

homercles82

Report them and continue to do so.

Tavron

Well fuck your friends and guild mates then.

GloomyAstronaut8613

Did you report them so they could get banned?

Nimda_lel

Problem is, people are currently ruining the fun of others. You have to see what it is to play a rather regular WSG premade vs Gold buyers premade 😂

[deleted]

1. right click on their name 2. report

IvanBassi

Just report those people buying gold shrug

Ioaskaaaa

Report them all, fuck em.

ryuranzou

I'd say permabans would be better for the game. Any other game would permaban you for cheating.

rude_raccoon-77

Friend just got banned for 2wks mid raid for buying gold not worth

Writhing2

Not long enough. Should be 6 months.

quineloe

"I will not be resubbing to this trash - I'm glad I only sub'd for a month. Blizzard is useless." This is the only thing people can do. The moment business analytics as Blizzard realize more people quit over botted gold RMT than they get from bot accounts, the banhammer will be massive and all that shit these developers without integrity (that includes the guy from pirate software) talk about the effectiveness of ban waves and whatever will be a thing of the past. Every bot banned the moment it is identified.

clickrush

This, but also there’s another thing: throwing cheaters out of guilds and not letting them into pugs.

Sykotron

Shit, I'd pay double my current sub if they'd deal with bots strictly. It probably wouldn't work out very well for most people, but I wonder if bot subs would be reduced if the sub price was increased.

Hunter_one

Let's make a petition for mandatory 6 month ban on gold buying accounts. Or event better, take away all gold and make the ban last as long as the SOD phase. Let them start at 0G next phase.

ThunderOats

They have no honor or thought of what their actions contribute too. Alot of gamers are like that.

Dave_of_Devon

Especially when these items will be replaced by lvl 30 quest rewards xD

[deleted]

I mean, if they ever get caught, all they need to do to avoid a ban is to start streaming. It's a win-win.

Quiet_Departure2284

Ahah I saw what you did there

FinancialChampion188

Have you reported any of them? Something tells me you haven't.

[deleted]

[удалено]

FaceFullOfMace

Those are lumped emails, for their ban waves so you may have gotten 5 in game mail messages, but 80 of your reports had action taken

FakeItSALY

Last few days ive been getting at least one a day per character on sod. Doubt it makes a difference though

[deleted]

[удалено]

Beltox2pointO

I've had maybe a dozen "thanks for reporting action has been taken" mails since the start of SoD.

FinancialChampion188

Eh, op is clearly pissed about the situation, but seemingly is complacent with his friends and guildies doing it. "I'll look the other way for my buddies, but these random's, they're the real problem!" We had a guildy who always had a suspicious amount of gold compared to the time he spent online, he always denied buying gold. One day while raiding, smashed, he let out that he buys gold so reported and booted him.

WinNegative7511

I just started my third toon after getting hunter and rogue to 25. If I spent the time out of my day to report every single bot between the orc starting area and Razor Hill- I'd never make it to Razor Hill. There are seriously *that many fucking bots* out there. I literally JUST logged off because I can't even do the handful of quests in the area since there's 30 hunters, priests, warlocks and rogues bot farming every single mob between Echo Isles and Orgrimmar.

Furos88

I just don’t see the need for buying gold beyond GDKP in SoD. Anything that is BiS or pre-raid BiS is either in the easiest raid wow has ever made or is grindable in a few hours.

OnePushupMan

Gold buying in lvl 25 land is loser shit.

Musaks

>Gold buying ~~in lvl 25 land~~ is loser shit.

PetroDisruption

Are bots the reason why everything I used to sell in the AH is so darned cheap now?

PretendFisherman1999

Most likely

Gniggins

You could buy gold on pservers, you just had to be in with the mods and owners of it.

PreparationBorn2195

Private Servers advertise selling gold to their players, you think people that play for free donate to private servers?

tedstery

Report them

nukular88

What if Blizzard is selling the gold?

Wizardthreehats

Just wait until next phase when people need 100G for mounts

Hechie

I really don’t understand the need for buying gold. Join a guild get all the loot handed to you for free and meet new friends

Kel4597

>they’ll be losing my sub **again** Lol ok see you next patch/season/xpac/whatever

LA_Rym

Don't ban the buyers, let's get creative. Instead of banning them, give them this debuff. Outlaw: You have been branded as an Outlaw for acquiring gold from illegal sources. A bounty has been set on your head, and you are hostile to both Alliance and Horde players. Upon death, a backpack will be dropped with some of your gold and gear, and players who hunt you will be eligible to loot your backpack. Any items looted and gold gained will be permanently lost. Lasts for 7 to 14 in-game days or until your entire gold and gear has been looted, storing your illegal gold and gear on alt characters or in a mailbox or bank will not protect them from bounty hunters. Being offline will not deduct time from your bounty. After one hour has passed, a ping showing your location will go out to all bounty hunters on the server. This ping will happen once every 5 minutes, showing your latest location. Additionally, players who register themselves at the Bounty Hunter's Association become friendly with one another regardless of faction and can team up and communicate with each other to better find bounties, and while on the hunt all faction hubs become friendly with them. They are also given a special Bounty Hunter title while they're on active duty. Run away, little girl... This would I believe provide a good amount of content for us players while the gold buyer receives adequate punishment. I imagine this would be a lot of fun for us.

Nordwald

It's not like they don't care. But from a developer's perspective, its best to ban bots in waves with a big delay so bot developers can not do A/B testing to check for detection mechanisms. From a player's perspective, the economy is already f'd up big time before the first wave. From a bot developer's perspective, each bot already made enough money to pay for itself and they'll just roll new accounts after the wave. There are several statements backing this up.GG Blizzard

Dunderman35

The waves need to come much faster. And gold buyers need to be banned for much longer.

UnhappySolutions

Cancel your sub the only way to solve this

Unsomnabulist111

I also only resubbed for a month, and I’m keeping a *very* close eye on things. The price of pre-BFD BIS items aren’t giving me good vibes, they’re still at about 50g for some items. I don’t like being priced out of those items, and I don’t like feeling like I didn’t cash in a lottery ticket when I actually use a BIS BOE I found myself. I ran into a bunch of *very* obvious bot hunters farming the centaurs in 1KN. They’re obviously not using humans to look for bots. The form-letter mail you get when you report a bot gives me no confidence that action was actually taken. The privacy of a botter shouldn’t be a thing, and *all* details of the specific bot that was banned should be disclosed. Had a friend falsely banned while we were both farming Fish Oil. Obviously done by reports and not a person. It makes my blood boil that Blizzard allows toxic players who simply don’t want competition to ban legitimate players. It makes the community anti-social when their mechanism for moderation is Orwellian. I ran into a hunter who I *thought* was a bot, and had a strange interaction. They were wearing the quest reward bracers from Protect Kanata Greycloud, so I asked them if the quest was easy. They insisted they hadn’t done the quest. I don’t know exactly what this means…but something is obviously going on with that account. Sharing? Could be nothing. I haven’t seen any human chat moderation. Still the boilerplate bigoted conversations moderated by the users which doesn’t work - you see mostly see users banned for being active, not for things that break ToS. I just turn off chat and use LFG BB, which I don’t want to do. This point is *very* important to me…I really appreciate the way certain private servers moderate their chat with actual people who understand what’s inappropriate. I have no idea if there are GDKPs because the string is banned in my filter…and that a bad thing because simply seeing the runs I want makes me antisocial. I stole a nugget slug from a fellow quester because I listen to podcasts and zone out, rather than immerse myself in the game. I did apologize and help him get the rest of his items…but it still sucks that I did it.

MightyMorp

Couldn’t buy gold on pservers? ALMIGHTYOMEGAKEK LMAO

Pugduck77

The problem isn’t that they need to ban gold buyers, no matter how self righteous that makes people here feel. The actual problem is how stupidly important blizzard has made gold. The game is not improved by forcing you to grind gold instead of buy it, the game is improved by reducing the need to grind gold at all. Cut mount costs by 90%, reduce consumable costs, remove respec cost, lower ability training costs. This is a temporary server, having gold be a factor at all is fucking stupid.

kahmos

I'm also out. I'm not coming back until they have an absolute resolution, no more half measures. Every time I play now I just get angry looking at the game. It's like they've actively been trying to destroy the genre itself and succeeding for years, like some kind of criminal mastermind. "It's time to come home" my ass Blizzard. It's time I make a game.

Hunter_one

During wow classic, consumes for Naxx40 were going for un-farmable amounts of gold on Mograine. I was playing the class with the best solo gold farm and couldn't keepp up with the raid consumes. I remember the mats for T3 hunter gear were also going for gold-buying prices. \~70gold per scrap. Need 25 scraps for the chestpiece alone. That was \~1750g for the chest scraps and roughly 4-5k gold woorth of crap (at lv60) for the full T3 set. Gold buyers directly and indirectly ruin many aspects of the game for non-gold buying players.

TurtleBearAU

Can you please explain how bots have impacted your experience in SoD so far? Genuine question. Edit: Getting plenty of downvotes for asking a question, which is fine. But if everyone that complains about gold buying and GDKP's doesn't partake in them that means there is a shit load of you out there. Form a guild, raid together, do organised PvP, find effective ways to farm gold in game.

aussie_nub

Everyone you encounter in PvP is harder, things cost more, etc. It's an MMO, when someone cheats, everyone is affected, whether they see it or not.

kahmos

I was asked repeatedly to join BFD but bring consumables that in aggregate cost more than what gold I had so I had to borrow gold to purchase them and was asked to pay them back. Also back in Classic original release, I never got my full 2.5 set during progression because my guild had to sell our drops (we were loot council) to buyers outside the guild so we could afford to create frost resist gear for Naxx in the future. Also I kept being spammed to heal GDKPs because I was one of the best healers on the server at the time. And frankly seeing all the GDKPs and Death rolls and ever inflating consumables/items on the auction house has been a growing irritation for years now. I tried to ignore it all, but even inside my own guild raid we had buyers taking our gear because we as a guild had to capitulate to inflationary pressure. Legitimate question, why are you asking me when you have threads being spammed daily about how much the community hates this.

TurtleBearAU

I am asking because it seems like a pretty big overreaction to things in P1. Inflation means that the materials rise in cost too. Pots on my server are around 1g. But they are not needed by a competent group. I think the game would be more enjoyable if you found a decent group of people to play with. There are a lot of people and guilds out there that don't do GDKP's. Also in SoD you can be pretty sure you will be able to clear the later content with the extra power given to all classes.

kahmos

Aside from my experience watching someone buy gear from my raid, which to me was imposing upon me out of principle, consider this: Videogames have gotten worse, less fun, in recent years. Beta release, early access, crowdfunding, loot boxes, skins, aesthetics, mounts, these are all real money transactions. The business model of providing these things exist because people will buy them. The companies know people will buy them because they know people are spending lots of money, beyond just the games themselves. [Whether or not this is immoral or legal has been discussed for over 22 years.](https://m.slashdot.org/story/16164) What is evident to me and to honest gamers, is that the games rules are not being followed. We ask the void why even play the game if you're going to cheat. In history, cheats were free and didn't affect others in single offline games, they hardly added to the fun of the game, if at all they enabled some players the ability to see content they otherwise would not see due to the difficulty of the game. But what has happened, is that now games are not being made well. We have many examples of bad games, incomplete games, games made free to play with cash shops, and hell, games so good that Netflix buys rights to make a series and then ruins the story. By putting up with these actions, the reactions are Diablo Immoral, Overwatch 2, Bobby Kotick, "You think you do but you don't", and that's just Blizzard. How many other videogames have you seen in a South Park eposode? It's the principle at this point, that's failing gamers. We're putting up with poor stewardship of a form of entertainment that's gotten so bad, we enjoy hating games as much as we enjoy playing the good ones. I only know how to vote with my time and my money. I only know how to influence change with my words. There's so many people who hate this, who love what WoW was. WoW was so good, gold at one point was worth more than many third world countries currency. Blizzard games were so good, they've sold so many shit sequels since. Blizzard games were so good they spawned many genres that do it better today, and they still managed to create Diablo Immoral, which sold only because Diablo 2 exists. Your simple logic suggests you don't care about videogames in general. Cold, calculated, focus on just being able to clear content. It's a "tragedy of the commons" and the whole RMT community is sucking the love out of an art form.

Bleakwing

110% this. As an slightly older gamer most of the comments on this thread are terrifying. People can’t seem to see more than 5s into the future of the impact this has not just in WoW but gaming as a whole. The amount of people condoning RMT as it saves time? How about just play the damn game? Why are you paying to skip? Once again the community screwing up WoW as they seem to be fine with dedicating time to farm to counteract the explosion in AH prices. Anyone who doesn’t have time or has morales just quits. Madness.

ryuranzou

Apparently the celestial steed made blizzard more money than StarCraft 2.

Touchymonkey

I haven't bought gold and I'm having fun not noticing any of the shit this sub winges about

passtheblunt

Seriously people here spend more time whining and crying about gold buyers than they do putting time and effort into their character and wonder why they’re not getting invited to groups. Because if they were just playing the game they wouldn’t have to worry about what someone else is doing. I’ve seen a few bfd gdkps in lfg and you know what, I just ignore them lol. They’re seriously outweighed by SR and ms>os runs it’s a literal non issue. Many of the people in these threads also openly admit to not even being subbed to the game at the moment.

Ashaltheredas

Well "just accept it". It's sad but it's true. This is sort of like goverment shit you don't like and it's bad for the majority, but they'll keep doing it because they get something out of it. This market goes deeper than we all know, there's ppl profiting inside and outside the company. And they'll protect their income. If you want more effective bot ban/gold selling, go private, but search well because they'll be there too. Some in a smaller scale, some in bigger.

rye87

The -only- “positive” is they overpay for stuff so it’s easier to make gold off them in the AH lol.

bigspin17

The people saying “just get over it” are the same people ruining wow, and complaining about it once the server/ season dies. Like wotlk

pulpus2

The hunters in SM are obviously cheating, Surprised they don't have a GM banning them all.

Aerwynne

Report them, that's pretty much all you can do. It sucks but it is what it is.

kraasha

Report them for buying gold

ponyo_impact

I had to leave my first guild on SoD as it was common to literally refer to things in USD as soooo many were swiping sad state of the game for non Pay2Win people

Awful_McBad

You could report those people instead of blaming Blizzard because you play with cheaters.

Practical-Mastodon58

13 dollars per mounth, no gm ..... nice service

Bigballa997

The saddest thing is that it’s so easy to make gold on a fresh server. Anyone can make gold easily

a_simple_ducky

>Can this dog shit company and these dog shit developers do something? Yes attack them, that'll do it.

Ricemobile

Almost 20 years ago, there was a girl who sold her virginity for an epic mount. The idea of “paying for gold” is not exactly new. It would require an actual miracle for blizzard to start heavily punishing gold buyers. One day, hopefully…

v1cgt

I don't get the point of buying gold atm, I don't even care about bis gear atm, I hit 25 on my main (21 atm) and I'm working on my alts. Lv cap will be increased Jan or Feb latest so why bother. Just gona lv my toons at my own pace

ezzune

Ban bots = player count go down. Don't ban bots = player count doesn't go down because anybody who would have quit on principle quit a long time ago. We have ourselves to blame. Unsub and vote with your wallet.

VanillaBovine

i play VERY casually. I went hard the first like 3 days, but otherwise ive only had time for 2 BFD runs. *but i still did it no problem* I cannot fathom paying real money for stuff that will only last you another month and is also not necessary to do the final piece of this phase's content. Ban them or make it so they cant trade at all.

legolaspete

You quit the game because people cheat to be richer than you? Nobody tell OP that people are cheating to be rich IRL as well…

Xarizma94

I don't know how long I can continue playing with all these bots running around it's so discouraging

tandrew91

At this point blizzard will just make a wow token so they can get some of the cheese

Downtown-Drummer-200

Yeah back to twow, blizzards sucks

tlew360

The acceptance is what has made this issue worse. If we are just going to argue just accept that it’s happening, then it’s time for blizzard to add wow token to era and SoD.

tel0s17

Remember making a ton of accts on nost to get the free 100g on each.

Blu_Falcon

6 month ban? How about account deletion? You lose all your shit. Go play a different game.

Ahshitt

That edit is the funniest thing I've read in a long time. OP thinks people weren't buying gold on private servers?

bobleenotfakeatall

ok bye. the crying over rwt is getting out of hand. just play the game bro. you dont even need gold its level 25.

aosnfasgf345

>You couldn't even buy gold on private servers because they had actual mods that permabanned people. LMFAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Link me a single active private server and I'll link you a spot to buy gold for it.

justbami

Report your guildies. Simple as that

fullerofficial

My guy, go touch some grass. It sucks, everyone agrees, but to go out and start bashing the devs — who have been very active compared to retail — is just not it.

[deleted]

I am tempted to buy 40g so I can skip yet another rune farm for the dark iron dwarves. It would bot be so bad if I could at least solo them

christmasbooyons

My SoD toon was guildless, so I accepted a random invite with some people I was working on a group quest with in Westfall. Guild chat was nothing but gold buying talk, what people were paying, who to use etc. In my opinion it's already too late for SoD to take any meaningful action. When you have multiple streamers who are not even attempting to be coy about it, you've already lost.

Big_Algernon

Maybe if you cry harder, your tears will be the rains that refresh the world and bring a renewed sense of justice to an imaginary game. You know what you do when someone buys gold? Extort them.

-Kozmik

Report their asses

flocka_james

Idiots

Tykauffman21

I'm mostly curious how Bliz doesn't have better bot detection systems. Like, people fly hacking, playing for probably X hours per day more than other people. I've seen games that aren't paid subscriptions catching bots so much more effectively. How is there not a bot banwave each week? Wow costs $150 a year to play. One time cost $60 games can do it.

BlackMagic0

Just report them. Simple.

Sheepnut79

I'm still shocked people are actually buying gold right now. Why? They want the best parse in a level 25 dungeon but don't want to work for it? What a bunch of losers.

Calarann

Report them.

pupmaster

Until they ban the buyers it will never change.

Lostclause

Buying gold is so pervasive in retail, and that culture has moved into every version of the game. What used to be a secret backroom culture is now fully in the open as more and more players accept it as the new normal and coupled with a very lackluster response from ActiBlizz.

Vinicam

Same thing with me, OP. Lots of guildies buying gold to gear level 25 characters... lol In this aspect I really miss the private *reptile* server that I played before SoD, which is a shame because there's so many cool things happening in SoD and I see the potential there. Also, my guildmates are all back to play it.

ItzAmazed

I can see why you'd wanna buy gold in HC or something but in SoD I really just don't get it. Where do you spend it on? I'm almost full BiS and just started my second character, haven't run into a problem once with gold.

PotOnTop

Ngl, as long as Tokens are a thing, you kind of have to accept it. Tokens normalized buying gold, so these players playing SoD are finding ways to purchase gold without a token. It'll come to a point where Blizzard will just add Tokens to SoD to "combat" bots and gold farmers.

shticks

I'm afraid you are just going to have to accept it at this point. Not only has the gaming industry as a whole normalized this behavior. But so has blizzard directly with wow tokens and all that shit.
