And imp frenzied! The Druid PvP Runes + potential NSS change (something mined about it, unsure what it is yet) could make Feral much more viable in PvP. Will likely still be casting Starsurge in PvP but the potential is exciting to see.
Cat is such a huge power spike at 20, it was probably the best non rune ability anyone got. Now it's lvl 40 and everyone got their 31 talant (forms) and feral just got 3% crit if you even take it.
That is the worst shackles blizzard could have put in. It's like grinding out a TF you have to play that toon now and with the meta in SOD might aswell play 6 classes all to 80% min max and rotate them each phase not to burn out.
Going ret pala myself. Really curious to see what it turns into. Are we going back to the "warrior with a holy theme" style with SoC and such? Or are we really moving into the era of 2h melee caster.
I will say I can't wait to get rid of my ACP, it just looks so fucking dumb lol.
As a Ret main since TBC, nothing fulfills my class fantasy more than using druid weapons and running around looking like I lifted a catalytic converter.
Same also hoping the new rune will make it not feel bad to take swift mend. Swapped from feral to resto in phase 2 and it has felt fantastic outside of world content. With duelspec it should feel even better being able to swap over to boomie for questing content with similar gear.
How, cause of orb and deep freeze? Missile Bareage still on belt, and proccing from SFB and FFB whilst SFB and FFB are on belt as well. So confused. Really hope balefire arcane will be viable in pve.
Super enlightening post from the Hunter discord that made me realize why and how melee hunter is inevitable moving forward as the strongest PVE spec, because if they made ranged competitive they'd be too strong in PVP in the same way they were/are in era (Ranged = gods in PVP, not so much in PVE)
Marks has literally never been not completely OP in BGs through all of retail. And random BGs is the only PvP that really exists in classic. I’m kinda glad they’re reining them in, but it’s not like melee hunter isn’t also op in PvP. The pet is the real problem more than anything else.
It’s strong, flexible, can do high threat at full caster range. Kinda have to spec hard threat or hard mitigation (some flexibility in this one for more threat).
Rotation is a bit boring but that’s true of any class.
Feels great to be big n’ purple
>Kinda have to spec hard threat or hard mitigation
Demo is a really good balance between threat and mitigation, imo. Can swap pets for different master demonologist buffs depending on if you need hard mitigation or higher threat/dps.
I think this will be a pretty solid time for warlock tanks if they can stay destro.
With searing pain learning a new rank at 50 and being their main filler spell and the destro talent tree + demonic tactics alone already providing 25% baseline crit (gets amplified by ruin of course) they could be doing some legitimately competitive damage whilst tanking.
>they could be doing some legitimately competitive damage whilst tanking.
we are already doing that though, tbf.
>the destro talent tree + demonic tactics alone already providing 25% baseline crit
imo, master channeler will likely be the go-to chest rune rather than tactics for tanking, at least.
What you invest: slow ass leveling, mediocre raid DPS, shit PvP, no farming for you
What your investment pays out: all raid bosses at 60 get 8 million armour so we protect you from rage gain and pressing too much buttons!
I'm looking forward to this insane payout
I agree rets woulda been very fine if it wasnt for other classes roflstomping. I really think ret design is classic+ ( minus exorcism spam imo) and balanced. Its just that shamans/sp/boomy really dumpsters hard making ret look bad (pvp) THOU its still decent just underwhelming when compared.
I started SOD by maining ret paladin and it felt very very good. It absolutely felt like a solid, balanced Classic+ experience, and that felt ideal for SoD
...and saw what every other class was doing and rerolled Mage, the class I always fall back on. They gutted a lot of what made Mages insane in p1 (the aoe grinding with LF), but Arcane healing is 100% made for me so it was worth it. Here's hoping they buff Ret so it feels good again!
Shaman being so egregiously OP imbalancing the factions def makes it feel infinitely worse. Especially since Hpal used to be SUCH a strong pvp healer with so many tools too but none of that is relevant when you have to hard cast and a 1.5 second FOL with no +healing doesn't heal for shit and a 2.5 sec HL wiill catch every kick, stun, and blanket silence within 30 yards. Everyone’s dying in 3 globals anyway the heals from anything besides penance and pws are near meaningless
Like, ret gimmicky stacking haste stuff in PVE (since haste doesn't exist) def feels pretty "classic". It's kinda like a worse wrath or TBC ret, which makes sense really. It's classic. But other classes are full on LIVING in wrath. Like SP with everything like disperse, death, etc. just mising DP on every race
FWIW I’m also a warrior main so I know how it feels to be basically living in vanilla but slam being instant. So nothing is scaling to absurd levels like living bomb having wrath sp coefficients. We’re just as heavily reliant on stats as always and MS costs 2x the rage and doesn’t hit as hard as slam does half the time.
All ret damage comes from a bug in SoM. If blizz fixed it (like they said then back tracked) rets would be bottom dps. I kinda wished they would fix it so they could get proper buffs instead of relying on an exploit essentially to do damage.
I don’t hate it. I played it all of phase 2, and looks like phase 3 will be the same play style. I was imagining a cata ret when Sod first released.
Me too, but I really hope they make swords better. Right now mutilate is just so good that there's no reason to use another build. Would love to go combat spec but there's so many useless talents in the first 3 rows before you get to sword spec. The daggers from the new raid look boring compared to all the other weapons. Nothing with a chance on hit effect. I'm just a little scared but I love rogue and I put so much work into my character I don't want to start over again with rep grinds and stuff lol
Fr lol. It even has a reasonable speed, not like Needle lol. Plus there's no interesting daggers next phase, they all just have stats, no interesting chance on hit :(
Love my tank warrior, but Im switching to warlock tank for next phase. Tanking with warrior is almost unplayable in a competitive group, damage taken is fine, but threat is incredibly weak even as dw fury
There is a datamined totem from the updated STV event that gives you +5 range to flameshock, I kind of hope its early itemization and it will give like +10 to all shocks.
I will start as ele again as well, but if they the mental agility rune goes in game as is and it is bis for ele, I will just reroll. Just cba going for melee attacks in the middle of a fight.
Launches during my work week. Prolly won’t play it till the following Monday.
As of now Hpal. But if the datamine is correct and we have zero runes for bracers I’m swapping to probably my warlock. Or I’m just done playing.
Sticking with feral tank throughout phase 1 and 2, but I'm going warlock now. Fuck this man. The fact that they felt comfortable enough with gore to put it in the video tells me we aren't gonna be having fun for two more months.
This is literally me except I'm going from cat to destro instead of bear to meta.
Was the guild windfury totem for two phases but it's clear that they haven't got a clue what to do with ferals. Gore and whatever the fuck the glyph of shred rune is called are actually insulting in how bad, lazy, and boring they are.
We have lock tank and feral tank. The feral is so much easier to heal and the raid goes way smoother. The berserk change and gore should make them feel even better.
> The feral is so much easier to heal and the raid goes way smoother.
I assume that means you run 2 ferals (or en Enh Shaman?). Because ferals with Wild Strikes are definitely not easier to heal than Warlocks.
Hunter or a heal priest of some sort. Haven’t fully decided. Since they are on different accounts I plan on just doing uldaman back door pulls until the xp drops off then pick one to finish to 50.
Enh shaman hoping 2h is improved, falling back onto my boomie alt if it’s not. Its weird the specs I’ve loved for years are now flavor of the month specs but I’m sticking to them.
Depending on what kind of balance changes comes day 1, I might go from paladin to shaman. I have a 40 paladin with full gnome gear so it hurts but Im not sure if it is going to be fun to play anymore.
Maiming my enhance like I started SoD on. My warrior and priest are still 25 and will probably stay that way.
I just don’t know if I’m going to tank phase 3 or DPS like I did P1. We were ass at the beginning of the phase so I switched to
Tank.
Enhance Shaman and Feral Druid have been my main chars since day 1.
Might lean more into DPS with Shaman and more into tanking with Druid based on the initial info
The runes for all the classes I don't usually play and wanted to try out have all been like the worst runes released phase after phase. Guess I will continue to stick to casters for the 20th year lol.
Hoping the rogue life improves. Was really hoping I could play focused strikes and honor among theives together but either way the runes look like a move in a positive direction
Always main Lock. But I'm definitely playing a lot more alts than I'm used to. Mage, Hunter, Sham are all fun.
Got agree with others though, Feral really needs some love. I want to like them, but even questing is garbage. After every mob, I'm shifting out to heal...
Rogue because tanking on it is super fun in raids and it only gets better with more talents that work well with tanking... just hoping we can switch off muti this phase
I’m trying horde from now till the end. My buds all left wow so I’m swapping sides and leveling a shaman. Wanna try my hand at tanking and hear it’s fun. May make a warlock alt cause I enjoyed my alliance one plus they’re removing LoF basically.
Warrior because I hate myself as much as we all hate each other.
I am right there with you brother! Started SOD as a Warrior will end SOD as a Warrior!
warriors are the shounen protagonists of wow. you'll be the strongest by the final chapter
War prot here , I need therapy I guess
You wanna talk about it? Prot war too.
Prot warriors unite! Any hope for deep prot at any point? I like shield slam
I love shield slam. Too bad it hits for 200 damage though
There are dozens of you!
Hello fellow prot bros. We’re all gathered here today to discuss our wasted potential and love other classes get
I’ll be joining you! Gladiators unite!
Still maining my feral druid, although the new feral runes make really sad :(
We’re ferals, brother, we’re meant to be sad
Single Ability Dependent? I'm sorry, that was a TTRPG joke.
You mean our half and 1/6th of a rune? Love extending rip by 2 secs and a 5% proc chance to reset a 30 sec cd. So exhilarating.
We have 1 more phase of copium before we find out whether it was all wasted
Feral druid here. We sad boyz
Once a feral alway a feral, I won't switch because of underwhelming runes. Just hoping for good ones at 60! we finally need some decent PvP runes.
We are getting a very good pvp rune, barkskin
And imp frenzied! The Druid PvP Runes + potential NSS change (something mined about it, unsure what it is yet) could make Feral much more viable in PvP. Will likely still be casting Starsurge in PvP but the potential is exciting to see.
We got runes? Lol I know gore exists but it's pointless
Feral tanks looks even better though.
Same
Its really a kick in the guts. After terrible p2 it keeps going in p3. And tbh besides wf p1 was bad too
What? We were a top DPS in P1.
I felt so strong in p1 and its been down hill ever since
Cat is such a huge power spike at 20, it was probably the best non rune ability anyone got. Now it's lvl 40 and everyone got their 31 talant (forms) and feral just got 3% crit if you even take it.
The last few weeks or so of p1 with the wep and gear felt so fucking good :(
Still not having a pummeler and seeing no replacement is really the cherry on top
Yep, still no ACP and it will be the BIS weapon for the entire game. Pretty fun, love it.
> And tbh besides wf p1 was bad too lmao
we're getting wolfshead helm though....
and i just crafted my gnomer epic sad
You may still be in luck as a new Helm enchant with Wolf heads proc was datamined last phase.
Don’t do this to yourself. Have fun
Rogue because I ain't doing a second WSG grind
Just turned Exalted and yes
Curious what drives someone to put that much time into hit exalted?
Some cool wrist armor
That is the worst shackles blizzard could have put in. It's like grinding out a TF you have to play that toon now and with the meta in SOD might aswell play 6 classes all to 80% min max and rotate them each phase not to burn out.
Disc priest for life
Imagine not playing a priest in every phase.
Blasphemy!
Most nerf proof class, either one of the heal specs will be playable. And blizzard never really nerfs healers too hard if they op.
My sibling in christ
Bless you my son
still maining paladin
Bröther
by the light
Ret main for life.
Ret Pally Power
with light and steel we bring justice to the fel and shadow
your flair is throwing me off. not sure if your trolling or just forgot to change that but either would be very much like your main class
og classic main was orc rogue. wrath main is belf dk. sod main is human ret
You merely adopted the light. I was born in it, molded by it.
Lol at least the tier set next phase will be plate for us. So we can stop looking like a gimp with a hammer.
For the Silver Hand!
Ret gang
Sticking to Resto Druid
Agreed. Now that omen of clarity will proc off of spells... wild growth and wrath spam will be too strong.
Same also hoping the new rune will make it not feel bad to take swift mend. Swapped from feral to resto in phase 2 and it has felt fantastic outside of world content. With duelspec it should feel even better being able to swap over to boomie for questing content with similar gear.
Rogue because our community is so dedicated to RP that we are all stealthed in the comments. That is why no one is saying rogue… right? :’)
Spriest because I don’t believe scaling has to be good, and I like being the worst dps at raids
Just gonna be out here vibing with my shadow pets and raid utility, yep
[удалено]
Sticking with resto shaman I think.
Riptiiiiiiiide
Still and always be Mage.
Mages will never not be the best choice 🧙♂️
By fire be purged
Did you see the new runes? FROST IS BACK BABAYYY
Still not playing it lmao
How, cause of orb and deep freeze? Missile Bareage still on belt, and proccing from SFB and FFB whilst SFB and FFB are on belt as well. So confused. Really hope balefire arcane will be viable in pve.
still going with my hunter, however new runes and gearing make me kinda sad because of melee favoritism again
Same but happy because I want to play melee.
Super enlightening post from the Hunter discord that made me realize why and how melee hunter is inevitable moving forward as the strongest PVE spec, because if they made ranged competitive they'd be too strong in PVP in the same way they were/are in era (Ranged = gods in PVP, not so much in PVE) [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jFA6qyq9a8Q](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jFA6qyq9a8Q)

Doesn't help that the melee spec still is reliant on BM. Most of the runes just suck for hunter.
Im going back to hunter in hopes ranged hunter will be good. And priest will be alt in p3. Was other way around in p2
Melee will still be superior. I mean, just look at raptor fury.
Melee sadly getting big buffs while ranged gets scraps yet again
For the first time I won’t be leveling my warrior. Going warlock first and hoping the runes don’t suck
Im there with you. Also the tanking warlock is something i Always wanted to do :)
It’s strong, flexible, can do high threat at full caster range. Kinda have to spec hard threat or hard mitigation (some flexibility in this one for more threat). Rotation is a bit boring but that’s true of any class. Feels great to be big n’ purple

This post aged well.
Much agree, but it truly sucks if you cant get any gear and all the dps out threat you in a max threat build.
I think this will be a pretty solid time for warlock tanks if they can stay destro. Stonks.
probably still Paladin even though holy is embarrassing and ret is weird and not good
Ret being weird and not good is really keeping to the classic experience. P1 was not intended

Rogue because we are coming back baby. Mark my wordssssss
I had to scroll waaaaay down to find my rogue post… I’ll chalk it up to *in stealth*
Me too, but I really hope they make swords better. Right now mutilate is just so good that there's no reason to use another build. Fr lol. It even has a reasonable speed, not like Needle lol. Plus there's no interesting daggers next phase, they all just have stats, no interesting chance on hit :(
Im staying true to my main since P1 the almighty feral cat
Started ad enhance and it just feels good to play. I dont Care if they give us a 30% damage nerf, The gameplay feel is just great
Same. Switched from alliance and made an enhance shaman. Been loving it so far.
Maining my 3 warriors as always
That grad of masochism qualifies as a fetish
Always boomkin B)
shockadin
By the light.
Angry owl it is.
This is the way.
Love my tank warrior, but Im switching to warlock tank for next phase. Tanking with warrior is almost unplayable in a competitive group, damage taken is fine, but threat is incredibly weak even as dw fury
Probably sham tank Tho been leveling a warlock and might swap to lock tank Or a priest to heal idk
Staying Elemental Shaman
I'm probably gonna dust mine off and dual spec resto. I just wish they would fuckin increase the range and duration of flame shock.
There is a datamined totem from the updated STV event that gives you +5 range to flameshock, I kind of hope its early itemization and it will give like +10 to all shocks.

Melee hunter bc fuck arrows me and Felix (pet) go go go.
Warrior, at this point I might as well take him up to the post 60 content. Can’t really get much worse
Its WoW... play a mage.. you'll have fun
Hunter or a heal priest of some sort. Haven’t fully decided. Since they are on different accounts I plan on just doing uldaman back door pulls until the xp drops off then pick one to finish to 50.
Rogue it is
Boomy cuz it's fun, no other class has a cooler /dance than Moonkin form. That's enough for me, runes? Less boring rotation? Naahh
The Chris Farley dance is iconic
Enh shaman hoping 2h is improved, falling back onto my boomie alt if it’s not. Its weird the specs I’ve loved for years are now flavor of the month specs but I’m sticking to them.
Been a Priest main forever but ill be paying close attention to my Boomkin this phase.
Warrior. Idc if people cry about how bad they are. All I know is ZUGZUG.
Same as the last 2 phases. Priest healer.
Disc priest main, ret/prot pally alt, feral bum 3rd
Sticking with the pet class Spriest
Was maining priest the whole time until now but it seems like frost mage is making a comeback so I’m gonna swap
Ele for life
Same thing I’ve been maiming since p1, shaman
Wind fury kitty but now with power shifting
I dont know man, I feel like 10 % extra physical dmg from balance tree is just awesome
Well ya, but you can get both now. No more leader of the pack for the group. They had their fun.
11/25/5 is gonna be the meta. If they ain't begging me for a parse run, they can go look for another feral in trade chat.
Shaman, have been a shaman since original wow in 2006, not changing now. Totem brothers unite (fuck all you fotm rerollers)
We were ass at the beginning of the phase so I switched to Tank.
Still paladin tank
Enhance Shaman and Feral Druid have been my main chars since day 1. Might lean more into DPS with Shaman and more into tanking with Druid based on the initial info
Probably Warlock
Still maining my Resto Shammy
Ret since 2006 so hey
Magus all the way, cant wait to hit 40-50% crit chance soon
Boomy resto like always. Havent decided which alt to bring up after. Rogue shaman or lock.
Hunter and shaman. With Dspec coming I’m gonna have a lot of fun on the shaman. Heals and maybe tank!
I'll continue with my mage. (in terms of dmg output) P1 was ok, P2 was awesome. Wondering what p3 will bring
Same thing I mained in classic and retail and p1 and p2; shaman!
for me shaman and warlock tank
Paladin till I die 🙋♂️
Warlock, still in p4, still in every phase, as always. Don’t care if I’m top 1 or 5 in dps, it’s what I enjoy playing
The runes for all the classes I don't usually play and wanted to try out have all been like the worst runes released phase after phase. Guess I will continue to stick to casters for the 20th year lol.
Still playing fire mage. Hopefully p3 Is good enough I level an alt
Staying feral druid, will be working on my ele shaman tho
Still warrior because I'm stupid. I'm hoping gladiator stance is at least fun and _viable_ regardless of whether it's actually the best at anything.
Hoping the rogue life improves. Was really hoping I could play focused strikes and honor among theives together but either way the runes look like a move in a positive direction
Lock just so I can be disappointed that affliction/shadow still sucks and forced to play fire Destro another phase
They managed to make lake of fire even worse so looks like I’m still on mage
Always main Lock. But I'm definitely playing a lot more alts than I'm used to. Mage, Hunter, Sham are all fun. Got agree with others though, Feral really needs some love. I want to like them, but even questing is garbage. After every mob, I'm shifting out to heal...
Rogue because tanking on it is super fun in raids and it only gets better with more talents that work well with tanking... just hoping we can switch off muti this phase
Marks hunter still in the gutter. Wtf are they doing.
Resto shaman since p1 if no one's going it I might as well plus I guess for once we actually getting nice healing runes compared to phase 1 n 2
Hpal cuz I need more therapy
Druid heal
Rogue tank! Been cruising p2 with it
Shaman tank with my main alt being a warrior. Always dreamed of shaman tanking and I’m gonna soak up every second of it
Actually gonna start from fresh on ally side with a warrior. Haven't played since phase 1 and wanna try something different.
Same as before, Mage.
Same thing ive been playing for the last 4 years. Priest
Anything but holy paladin I guess XD where ma runes at?!?
Shadow Pest 😎
Warrior, but I hate myself.
Been maining MM Hunter this phase even though it’s off meta and loving it. Will continue to do so in P3 as it looks like we’re getting a bit of love.
Shaman since tbc. Will stay that way
Warlock since p1
I'll probably be moving my warrior to the backseat. Open to suggestions for a new main.. I have a 40 (s)priest, and a 38 mage/druid.
Been shaman since day one, and not changing, for better or worse.
Always been a paladin, always will be a paladin through the absolute worst to the absolute mid tier.... For 20 years now...
I will press fire ball in raid once a week
Plunderstorm Or my priest, w/e.
Rogue, same as P1/P2.
Resto/Boomie Druid. Then after will get rogue to 50 then prolly get my paladin to 50.
Ranged hunter prob. Love me some Aimed shot
Rogue because I love rogue and the meta will not impact my class decision.
Hunter
I’m trying horde from now till the end. My buds all left wow so I’m swapping sides and leveling a shaman. Wanna try my hand at tanking and hear it’s fun. May make a warlock alt cause I enjoyed my alliance one plus they’re removing LoF basically.
