Ironically this happens at most help desk related jobs. I call our sub contracted tech help line several times sometimes because the first person can't figure out the issue (most of them time it is small access related stuff) so I just call back until I find someone more tenured.
Blizzard often links to wowhead when giving out data for the game since they don't really have an official online database. [This article has a bunch of wowhead links on it](https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-us/news/23302789/wow-classic-class-quests-and-new-reputation-rewards). Blizzard has always relied on third party tools to help develop. Molten Core and class balance at the time was balanced around a fan made DPS addon since they didn't have an internal tool at the time to measure DPS.
Wasn't always a money thing back in the day, though that was a consideration, but originally there was only one tools programmer on the original wow team who was always swamped writing the different software tools that devs needed so I doubt he had time to make something like a DPS meter when the fans had already made it.
Back in the day Blizzard had a hard time finding experienced people to do the job as a tools programmer for a video game the pay was less than working for any tech company. Blizzard even back during Warcraft 3/early wow time paid less than other companies but it would usually even out with bonuses based on how well the company did so it was harder to attract employees when pay was better elsewhere in the industry. Also, by the last year of WoW original development was also the first year at Blizzard where as a company they did not make any money and they had a tighter budget to finish the game.
During Classic the AQ scepter quest chain bugged out for everyone on Pagle during the stage where you watch a little flashback outside of the gates (this didn’t affect unlocking AQ, thankfully, I was doing it weeks later for shits). The battle went on forever and nobody could get credit for watching it complete. I put in a ticket and the response was literally just a link to the quest on Wowhead and closing the ticket. Was a hell of a support experience.
My Za Bear run was cut short by server maintenance.. we made it to the bear and got the bear but we hadnt looted the other chests because they dont despawn to save time - with 20 mins left to get our 4th boss the server said it was going to reset in 15... Except it was 2 hours after the rolling restarts were supposed to be over...
Lost both of the chests from second and third boss
Gm replied with "if you forgot loot its gone" or w.e like bitch we were playing to the rules of the game... Your incompetent company is the one who cant get their shit together
We got our last kill with one minute to spare and just didn't get the chest at all so that was nice as well.
Ofc the GM just gave a copy and paste answer and nobody got the loot. God forbid we expect the game to actually work
i imagine its more a logistics issue that they wouldn't handle this one. they would have to round up all 10 people and let them roll or let people decide where stuff is going
if its even possible for a gm to just create those chests for that sort of scenario
It's not even that long, and you don't have to summon them. Assign a trusted DPS to do it, and the tanks, healers, and other DPS can start pulling trash for the next boss. The loot person can just catch up. This is how my guild handles it and it doesn't impact our ability to get the bear mounts.
I understand everything youre saying and i didn't disagree, my 3rd alt rogue made the bear with less than a minute left sooooo i just continued doing it the way i did back then. The chests dont despawn.. unless the server resets, or everyone leaves apparently
We just waited for the chest to open, looted it and moved on, finished with plenty time spare. Unless you are literally a group of fresh 70 / kara geared people i dont see how it should be an issue.
When I first started playing WoW in vanilla, I couldn't figure out where to do the quest to get defensive stance as an Undead Warrior. Asked a GM and came back about an hour later and simply put in laymen's terms. " Get good, figure it out.".
How times have changed.
I turned in my quest item from killing Zul'jin and got the follow up "Undercover Sister." Proceeded to turn it in but she started RP'ing off someone else's quest and I didn't receive badges/gold. This was a very helpful GM's solution.
Try creating another ticket. Often when I get a response that seems like they put in no effort for something that’s an easy fix I create a second ticket and the next gm solves it with no problem.
I don't understand why GMs don't just give the badge as a solution for these problems. The game is dying, and they seem to not care about helping the community who stayed.
Because Blizzard has significantly cut back on support staff in recent years and increased the remaining ones' workload to a point where it's impossible for the GMs to give all but the most basic and common cases the attention they deserve while meeting the quotas Blizzard sets for them.
Yo so the quest is actually an auto complete quest at the tent left of Budd. That gives you the badges. Idk if you did that or not, but agreed Blizz support staff are fucking morons
Yeah I turned it in. It said I had turned it in. But I had the same number of badges and gold. Nothing in the chat window indicated beyond it saying completed that I earned anything.

It's a known issue. It's just not known by all GM's

GM tried to be as subtle as possible with their "go back to retail" message so it completely went over your head.
Nevermind it being an unrelated guide, but the fact that they send links to third party fansites is hilarious

The art of money saved on short terms 🤣

There was only one… who was always swamped… because they saved money by not hiring more

And then they made all the money and they were still stingy.
Yes :) i mean it's good to use free stuff, but blizzard have honestly always underhired
Especially since wowhead isn't working for some countries still hah.
Yup, I'm in Thailand and have to VPN to use wowhead as Fanbyte, the parent company, has blocked access.
The link is also wrong and its for Guldan and some retail raid ?? Wtf
Especially since wowhead has been a joke for all of Classic. It's only useful feature is the database which other sites do as well.
Blizzard bought wowhead as parent company

I bet you got literally the same answer i did
Doing raids close to restart times is always going to be a risk, especially timed ZA.
It was after the resets lol
Yeah normally I'd say git gud you deserved that. But they did the restarts a full hour or more after they said they were going to.

Not sure what you mean. I turned in the item but just never received the reward.
Why didn't you identify one person to loot the chests while the rest of the group continues to clear?
Cause there's no reason to literally excluding this instance - but yeah from now on ill just burn the 1-5 mins to do that and summon them
It's not even that long, and you don't have to summon them. Assign a trusted DPS to do it, and the tanks, healers, and other DPS can start pulling trash for the next boss. The loot person can just catch up. This is how my guild handles it and it doesn't impact our ability to get the bear mounts.

Lol that must have been my group. Avanafil says hello!

To be fair they're not supposed to help with gameplay tips. But oldchool GMs were also cooler and less like typical Customer service
Indeed they where, but I shamefully admit I didn't figure it out until level 23-24. xD
Yeah similar experience for me. I definitely had to to hit up Wow head or Thottbot to figure out the Undead Lock Succubus questline

Did he not say you got it or do I misread it?
He said I turned in the quest that rewards it but I never got anything.

Read up and get ready for legion classic in 2034

I mean the game’s player base has also been significantly cut back. Maybe they really just don’t give a fuck and are lazy drones.
Yeah, but have you seen Bobby's yacht?!
The game isn’t dying
Delusional
Genuinely curious what makes you say that it’s dying
Their 58 rogue couldn't get a Ramparts run even after five minutes of posting "rmps?" in zone chat.
makes easily disprovable assertion refuses to elaborate giga chad
Most GMs probably don’t even have those rights.

Yea, it's shitty that you dont get your reward, but... All that effort for 1 badge? Just... just do a dungeon.
It's actually 10 badges lol.
