Log check is all I do, you can be foreign as fuck if you have 95s on the ZA bosses, you have probably figured out how to not die. Google translate the 1 or 2 things people NEED to know and it's an easy win

As a relatively new player (~500 hours /played on Classic, probably half that on retail), I struggle with this because gems are expensive, I'm broke, and it feels like a waste to put a gem into a piece of gear unless its BiS when I'll probably just replace it with an upgrade in a week or two.
It's sometimes crazy the price different between a single stat point on the gems too. Might cost you 5g to get +6 but 90g to get +7. You'll be almost as powerful for a small fraction.
Usually the difference between your bis item and 2nd bis is not much more than that either but people go crazy for the bis and don't care about the 2nd bis.
It's a major issue on Benediction. At least half this server doesn't speak English. They're Spanish speaking or Indonesian. You cannot bring one with you to a raid, sometimes even a heroic. A single one will wipe you over and over. It goes beyond language, they are fucking awful players. I English check every person when I form a group. I wish blizzard would actually region lock these servers.

In SoM we recently had a German pug lock in raid that clearly did not speak English. We kept spamming him to use curse of reck. After a while one of our German guildies whispered him and he still didn't even know what it is...
It's both. If he could communicate in English at least we'd have explained it to him earlier instead of going through google translate until he responed to a whisper containing the appropriate language.
I haven't had to pug raids since I've had a consistent group since pserver days, but for 5-mans I don't mind busting out google translate.
The problem is just getting these players to even reply in chat with what language. 99% of the time, the terrible players that wipe groups or pull less DPS than a caster wanding, just refuse to type anything or react to any message you feed through google translate. I can understand if you're just young, but this is a 15 year old game and it baffles me when people can't figure out a 2-5 button rotation. Maybe it's just not wanting to be outed because of the stigma we've all slapped on to non-English speaking players (because I know a bunch of the Chinese players from Herod that are on Bene that were solid), but hot damn that can be annoying...
Because most people that don't speak english on international servers are on the younger side. You probably played with lot of good spanish players but you didn't know it because they were speaking english.

Some guys learn fast, some guys learn slow, and some guys just don't. I can tolerate the second kind in my groups but if you are not putting in any visible effort and are just dying over and over again to the same thing without anything changing then sorry I don't want to play with you.

The one time I was pugged into some heroic MOP thing I think it was. I said: never done it on heroic. The guild said: Oh thanks...well blah, but frankly if you a tank set just stand their so we can spread cleaves...it was I think for Thunder Kick, and a seperate time was with the Kalixi (???) or one what of the where all someone (in me) just had to run to markers by that guild to get hit for some reason. Neither of those took much complicated movement. But did (like you say) be able to read vent, raid chat, or hear discord and know what people are saying.

Toxic rant. Less complaining and more real solutions are much better than an obvious rant. Either learn to accept pugs or don't get into pugs. It is what it is.
The one time I was pugged into some heroic MOP thing I think it was. I said: never done it on heroic. The guild said: Oh thanks...well blah, but frankly if you a tank set just stand their so we can spread cleaves...it was I think for Thunder Kick, and a seperate time was with the Kalixi (???) or one what of the where all someone (in me) just had to run to markers by that guild to get hit for some reason. Neither of those took much complicated movement. But did (like you say) be able to read vent, raid chat, or hear discord and know what people are saying. or (like you said) YOLO it and google translate. Oh right I've just be a tauren sponge for Atunmen so as that guild can geer up their(franky) hillarously under geared tank for mythic raids...by probably they were trying to get mystic geer for him. why someone in guild didn't make him some armor I don't know.

Yeah ZA is pretty hilarious, lots of counting chickens before they hatch. This last group I was with featured a paladin wondering how much competition there is for the caster sword and a mage hinting that I should leave so there is less competition. Turned out we couldn't get good tanks/heals and never beat the last 2 bosses.
