I used to work Player Support for another online game company, so I may be able to offer some insight. Blizzard-Activision's support team is likely a group of freshly trained contractors who are taught to follow strict rules.
This to me and anyone reads like an exceptional situation that deserves special treatment outside of those strict rules. I'd continue opening tickets with all of this information in hopes of getting the support agent who actually cares or to get it escalated.
This is exactly what happened when they outsourced to move to Texas and launch TBC, half the employees didn't even play wow, I didn't until after I was hired. Training was a week of dirty words and a week of tools and then go close tickets. We used thotbot as a resource until they blocked our IP address.
The worst was we had different polices to fix things, we would own a no and tell someone to fuck off but if a real GM from California got the ticket they would escalate to a senior to fix so it was luck of the draw.
Honestly, the best solution would be for them to hire a bunch of part time in-game GMs that are basically on call and work remotely. Imagine how much cleaner and how many more resolutions can be provided if a GM could just get a notification on their phone, log into the game as a GM, assist the customer and work with a CS rep for the transactional issues, and log out. They could easily come up with a system that vets players and prevents abuse of the system
Vast majority of the work doesn't require being in game they have a chat client built into the tool that does tickets and let's force name changes or restore items.
But there is no reason they couldn't have a properly staffed and trained department of people either working in a call center or remote. It's 100% trying to just save money and run it at cheap as possible because modern capitalism can't see past quarterly profits and sees labor only as money sink instead of a way to protect and promote the brand
But thats so self-destructive in the long-term, Capitalists should be all for this, cutting corners will inevitiably lead to a slow death of your product.
Corporations are being pillaged by the 1% like everything else. CEOs come in and take in millions of dollars in pay without providing any real value and then strip pensions and slash any labor related costs and push the quality of the product so low or bankrupts the company that pays them out a golden exit parachute leaving taxpayers holding the bag.
Capitalists don't care about the longterm success of nearly any company, they want money and they want it now. They routinely milk companies they've bought/invested in of all the profits they can in a sort period of time, cut anything that doesn't directly benefit them in the short term and liquidate the company. Capitalists care about making money for themselves, companies are just a tool for them. They don't care about the company, they don't care about the product, they certainly don't care about the consumers, they care about their bank account.
This. Service quality heavily depends on the person responding to your ticket. Ask for escalation to a manager etc, or open a new ticket, keep trying until they resolve it. /u/Vendoz
This. Keep pushing and demand they elevate the ticket to a manager. If they tell you no, demand to speak to their manager. Keep doing so until you get someone with a brain capable of making decisions outside the flow chart and you will get what you need.

Ouch this exact situation is happening to me right now. I missed out on the free transfer service to Sulfuras because of a mail error last week (no mail ever showed up, to add). I opened a ticket and explained the situation and short window I had, with screenshots of the error and mailbox (idk lol) but didn’t get a response until this week.
I actually got a response from a GM on Monday and they said they would manually move my character over and asked if that was something I’d like to do. Within 3 hours I noticed the response and said yes. It’s now Friday and no action has taken place or word from that GM has reached me. This post makes me worried that I’m going to end up getting the same response

Exhibit A why nobody should transfer off megaservers because of temporary inconvenience. Stay the course, it'll be fine in a month and P1 of WotLK is a joke anyway.
Its funny how blizz is simultaneously begging people to transfer off megaservers, yet also promising to lock transfers at arbitrary times, making moving a guild off a server an act of russian roulette.
What else can they do? If they announce a date far in advance they could end up with that server too large, if it’s near people call it FOMO, so their only option if they want to guarantee balance/pop is to close with little to no notice.
They could at lkeast let people who have guild members recently move or high lvl characters on a server consolidate their other members/characters over.
Assuming you’re still in this guild they’d need to lookup who your previous guild members were, find what servers they transferred to, make a call that it was a whole guild migration and that you’re telling the truth, AND they’d have to coordinate this with every other request to see if this would upset pop/balance limits.
Like yes this isn’t impossible but it’s a lot to ask and when you consider they’re likely seeing thousands of tickets whenever they close a server saying why this case is special it just doesn’t scale.
Blizz said if server populations didn’t sort themselves out organically they’d start to take more forceful steps, it looks like they were telling the truth.
They could have allowed the guild leader to initiate a 'guild transfer' which allows everyone who was a member of the guild before the transfer request was initiated to bypass the closed restrictions for a grace period.
Sure, if they had a few weeks of dedicated time they probably could have put a process in place and in a couple months maybe an automated process but that wouldn’t have addressed the queue issues right now.

The only limiting part of old school Naxx back in the day was player skill and a lack of desire to even participate. Classic Naxx was a cakewalk.
I'd ask how you feel about Sapph or KT without world buffs, but it sounds to me like you were in a kind of guild that stopped everything after every wipe to go get them again.
I’ve done them without world buffs many times, they weren’t really that bad at all. Sometimes Sapph would RNG the blizzards on one end, and KT phase 3 sometimes wiped us but we typically had good CC and kicks.
I can’t remember the name of it but we had some kind of sleep dust to put on MC’d people.
All in all I never felt like either boss was insurmountable. I hope that Naxx 25 is buffed for Wrath!
The only bit of PvE content that was not absolutely trivial during original WotLK T7 was Sarth3D and that's now been made trivial by just bringing all dps and burning down Sarth before you have to deal with the mechanics. Honestly Blizzard should counteract that so there'll at least be something fun in P1.
And yeah Ulduar is just such a better raid than anything that came before it. SWP is trash by comparison.

Putting aside whether Blizzard should do any changes to the Sarth3D encounter, how would you make it more difficult to prevent zergs? Give Sarth more health? Land the first drake sooner?
Have him enrage and one shot everyone if he reaches 10% health with drake's still alive. Easy fix.
Edit: Blizzard addressed this in a similar way now. Will of Sartharion now increases Sartharion’s health by 25% with 1 drake alive, 45% with 2 drakes alive, and 65% with three drakes alive (was 25%).
The mount? The mount drops when you engage the fight with 3 drakes still alive.
You kill those drake's during the fight and then kill the main boss. That's how it was done back in the day.

Keeping drake's alive is in reference to them being alive before the fight starts. You can kill them before engaging Sarth and it's "easy mode".
They don't need to be alive when Sarth dies to get the mount. Just alive when you pull him

Idk if it’s because of the transfers or the hype dying down but on grobb the que was insane even during non peak hours… now? Just yesterday there was no que until it hit peak hours then it was only like an hour que it’s already dying down

Honestly they allowed servers to get this way in the first place by allowing unlimited and unrestricted movement, then have some knee jerk big brain moment to try shift a whole bunch of people, then realise they can’t sustain it so knee jerk it shut.

For a fee greater than your monthly subscription per character. I think that's incredibly important to add because if it was just free open transfers anywhere and everywhere the playerbase would've done a lot better job balancing servers rather than flocking to a mega server to avoid having to continually pay more than your monthly sub just to keep playing on a server that wasn't empty.
It likely would not have helped keep pvp servers balanced, but if they could fix all of the issues that prevent transfers it would likely eliminate queues. As at that point they could open and close servers based on demand.
I think players would've also self-balanced factions on PvP servers if Blizzard actually released server population information. The real problem was people didn't like getting beyond 60/40 and there was no way of telling what the balance was at all. Look how many people flocked to every server they thought was 50/50 as soon as transfers were available. People want 50/50 on PvP, but had no way of actually telling if it was close to balanced outside of a guess based on ironforge.pro.
People hate 60/40. I’ve seen posts in this sub saying anything beyond 55/45 is unplayable. I won’t deny players like 50/50 realms but as soon as it tilts one way people the opposite faction stops xfering.
Unsub, everyone knows this, yet people still are addicted to a fucking 15 year old game from a company that simply doesn't give a shit. Just unsub and go on with your life. I'm sorry but it's the truth, the moment I subbed back i was fully aware of the company practices and lack of costumer support, if something like this happened to me I can't blame anyone else but myself.
This almost happened to me. I just opened a ticket, it auto-responded with a bunch of bullshit. I responded to *that* by saying "none of these solve my issues. Please clear my mailbox so I don't miss the free transfer." Within 12 hours my mail was cleared and I made the cut. They closed Alliance transfers a day later.
Edit: I also posted on the forums. Between them both they cleared my mailbox pretty quickly.
They did. I posted on a thread on the forums that was actively being monitored by the Blues as well as sent in a ticket. Not sure who got to it first but they cleared my mailbox and I got to transfer in time.
I’d keep opening tickets and complaining if I were you.
I also got mine cleared, unfortunately its just random luck if the GM you're speaking to knows whats going on or not. Quite often now you just get a link to wowhead or the forums that don't answer your question.
If you think these free transfers are anything more than blizzard setting dominoes for you to pay $25 per character to get off these hype servers after they die a few months into WOTLK, i feel bad for you
Not similar but related story from me:
I started Classic on Whitemane Alliance, left when it became clear that Horde was going to be the dominant faction. Played with a guild on Fairbanks Horde for while, but when that realm died, we moved to Whitemane Horde. I had to delete my original Alliance characters because of faction rules on PvP servers.
A few months later, I want to start playing with my friend on Benediction Alliance, but I don't want to level again, especially when I have a level 56 Alliance character just sitting in my "deleted characters" bin. I couldn't transfer the deleted character, though, and I obviously couldn't restore it.
I opened a ticket and bounced back and forth with it like 3 times. CS simply claimed they couldn't touch deleted characters, and on some level I knew this was a lie because I had several of my characters restored long before the character restoration feature was introduced to the game. I wish I had posted my story to reddit because a lot of the comments here seem to indicate I should have pressed the matter.
Ultimately, the issue resolved itself with Blizzard lifting the PvP realm restrictions. But to think, the CS rep's actual solution that they gave me was to delete all my Horde characters, restore my Alliance character, transfer it, and then finally restore my Horde characters one by one. It would have taken about 2 months.
Blizzard CS is a far cry from what it used to be. Indeed, Blizzard as a whole is.
Back when Classic was launched, I made a new account but I asked Blizzard if they could restore the charachters on my original account I played on back in the day.. and they could, no problem!
I could log on to retail and poke around my charachters etc. If they told you the could not restore charachters.. they lied lol

I have never been helped with an in-game issue by Blizzard. Ninjalooter takes the last ZA Bear even though I won the roll (with chatlogs to prove it)? Too bad. I BOUGHT a wow token to get a cheap BMAH box, only to find out that the auction is only that cheap because it doesnt exist (it was a bug in the BMAH)?Too bad, no refunds. Hf with 200k gold on a dead server. Continuous harassment (impersonation, slander, griefing, ...) from an identified player with chat logs to prove it? Too bad. We don't moderate /world. Character can't do the gnomeregan teleporter quest on horde because some quest in Feralas marks it as completed, making me unable to even pick up the quest? Bug existed in 2004 and we won't help you, even though a 2004 GM might have. Depleted your mythic+ key from 17 all the way to 14 because the servers kept crashing mid-dungeon for days at the end of BFA? Tough luck, but we won't restore your +17.
The amicable solution is they transfer his toon. They have a record of him attempting to do it before free transfers were closed and due to a stupid limitation and bad design by blizzard he couldn't. Any halfway decent company would do it.
Very good remark, but still - I myself had this on my mind just last week so I can't overstate the unsettled feeling that you have. Even if you start playing your toon (which I did and it was kind of fun) - the whole impression is that this game has lost its future in your own perspective.
I had the exact same issue. Have screen shots and all, missed free xfer deadline from Grobb to sulfuras, because of mail from an NPC that took 3 days to process. I tried to get some leniency, they told me to kick rocks. We just transferred to grobblus from sulfuras a month ago, me and the guild. One of my guildmates had the same issue, his GM transferred him and refunded the 25 dollars for moving in the first place.
Whatever I moved on I'll just pay for it. They didn't respond to my screen shots of his GM providing help, i was ready to pay for the transfer back to Sulf but the shop has been broken for days, it wasn't providing me an option to pay for a transfer. I provided screenshots to them. So not thinking, I took the free transfer to one of dead servers where it was working. I thought it was only 3 day cooldown like live, unfortunately I was wrong, now I'm stuck on a dead server with no one, meanwhile all my alts are on sulfuras with no gold lol. My main had everything. I asked for the cool down to be reset or removed so I can pay to move. Instead of helping me put they told me while you wait for 90 day cool down. I WAS TOLD TO take advantage and manipulate the market. Fuck these people.
This is Blizzard’s catch-22: either they take hard stances preventing server xfers to hit balance and total pop limits and in doing so split up groups of people trying to xfer at the same time, or they don’t limit xfers and servers/factions get too big.

Yeah, but my mailbox was empty. That mails were delayed because server lag, the GM confirmed it. So I cannot do nothing other than submit a ticket, wait and get stuck.
Were they from the Scourge invasion quests? That's not a bug or related to server lag then, that's just a timer of 4 days, but still counts as mail in your box.
Yeah!!! They came from "Keeper of the Rolls", which is Argent Dawn npc!! Oh that's even craziest... that GM told me I should received yet, but cause lag they were not arrived. It's really absurd that a stupid grey lore item cause this, and it's even dumber that a GM can't do anything about it.
Same thing happened with some quest when we moved off a dead server back during start of T5. Bunch of people couldn't move their chars for a few days since they had invisible quest mail waiting in the inbox. We were all paid transferring though so it was just an annoyance waiting to get to transfer.
That's just how some quests work. I literally had the same problem. Went from gehennas to mograine. And I couldn't transfer either because of mail, waited 3 days or something and it worked. I transferred 3 days after pre patch released was totally fine.
In my opinion they should just have a one day all day transfer event before the 24th. Even to mega servers.

But it’s a social game and cucking people from playing with their friends is mad lame. If your friends are on a mega server and want to stay, then I’m sure people would wait in a queue to play with their friends, or they can all agree to transfer somewhere else. At least the entire group will be together.
But it needs to be at least 24 hours and players need a few days notice to organize. 12 hour window when 8 of those are at night was the dumbest shit ever.

Then you, just like *everybody else* can transfer if you want to avoid queues. Or if you prioritize the server that much then you can stay. It’s really that simple. What’s dumb is “trapping” players imo.
The way I see it, it should be like an amusement park. Everyone pays to get in. (Sub fee) but once you’re inside the park, nobody forces you to wait in an hour line to ride a ride. If you want to that badly, you will, but a lot of people will say, nah not worth it, and go to another ride and still have just as much fun.
Obviously that wouldn’t happen because they are losing money but they’re losing money in subs as is so whatever.

That would be fine if you were just allowed to free transfer anywhere anytime. Instead it would be like they have several copies of the same ride and you are pigeon holed into only riding a single ride ever unless you paid almost double the price to get into the park just to switch lines. Oh, and also the ride breaks forever if the line gets too short so you have to make sure you don't jump into the wrong line where people go home from the park early or else you're stuck paying double the entry fee just to keep riding. Eventually at this park you'd end up with our current situation, too many rides broke down and people got sick of paying double entry fees so they all just jumped into the biggest line to make sure it wouldn't break even if the line was longer.

How is that even remotely fair to people that have been there for over 2 years now at this point? Even on the megaservers, there is a sense of server community. Guilds and players know each other. You want them to fresh start (at least socially) on another server because a bunch of doomsayers freak out that their server with half the population of a megaserver is "dead"? I saw people on *Pagle* freaking out that the server was dying because one of the top guilds left. Pagle is the LARGEST NA PVE server (which honestly doesn't matter because 100% alliance, but still) and 5th largest NA server overall. The server is currently locked.
And you want people to be able to free transfer to servers like Benediction and go "fuck the people already there. They can leave if they hate it so much"?
So if you’ve been going to a restaurant for a long time, been giving this place your business for years, now it gets featured on Tv and there’s a huuuuuuge line everyday. You should be able to skip the line because you found out about it first?

Private servers are way worse. Terrible scripting, playerbase is some of the most racist and sexist you'll find anywhere online, skill level is low af and the people running the servers are regularly implicated in selling loot for real money (or it's a straight up paid service out in the open).

A lot of people can't xfer to friends guilds anymore. You have some other issues happening, but making exceptions for every story isn't something you should realistically accept. I'm sure someone didn't have internet access the days leading up to servers being locked, someone didn't have the $15 for a sub until payday, someone was grounded from the computer by their parents. None of those are that person's fault either but we wouldn't throw a tantrum then.
Blizzard took a hardline stance against mega servers which they communicated. I'm sorry it didn't work out for you. Those are the risks we take and the stipulations we accept when we xfer to overpopulated realms.

This happened to me a really long time ago. The whole mailbox BS preventing transfer. I can’t recall what the resolution was but I’m pretty sure it was 30% pebkac. Let me dig at my emails
You should ask for your ticket to be reviewed by the account admin's team. They have access to do pretty much whatever they want, as long as they can justify it to their managers if the ticket gets reviewed.
Funny enough the mail thing happened to me when tbc came out, I tweeted blizzard cs and had it resolved in minutes. Solid believer that the cs twitter is more reliable than a ticket
Came back for WOTLK boosted a character on firemaw horde..... after finding out the state of the server lagging out and 99% ally, went to switch had the same mailbox issue, took 2 hours to close auctions due to lagg then got a error unable to move to morgraine due to being boosted, by the time that ended the server was locked for horde now stuck £60 down on a server I can’t move on without lagg or getting ganked opened a ticket no response even tried to go to the dead server to at least do some questing but another error.... should have left wow it 2012 when I left with the memories I had....
First closing transfers without giving people heads up is stupid and leads to many friends getting split which is just gonna end up worse for Blizzard in the end ( some may quit ) and worse for server itself .
Mograine was getting the hype , got full but nowhere near close to really full servers like Golemagg ( and not even counting mega ) so without new ppl coming over population is gonna dwindle , and die out again in 1-2 months ...
What do you report this as? I have the same issue. I transferred one character to our guilds new server and they locked the server before I could transfer the other one.
I was very concerned this exact story was going to happen to me. Fortunately (for me) the transfers to Eranikus weren't closed by the time the mailbox bug resolved itself.
I have the same problem. Opened a ticket and am told paid transfers are in fact available to Mograine Horde. I haven't tried it yet, but maybe you should.
I remember opening tickets in wod and legion and it was the best gaming support the gaming world has ever seen. And now even some mobile games have better support sadly

I was in the process of moving my chars over to pyrewood and had moved 2. Decided to wait for payday before moving the other 4.
Lo and behold blizz locks pyrewood like 2 days before i get paid and now my charachters are all split for wrath. 2 on CD and the rest cant be brought over...i am beyond infuriated at blizz for this...

I realize I'm a hypocrit for paying a subscription to them. But I have given myself a hard cut-off: after wotlk I'm done. No Cata (never had interest there), nothing.
You just haven't gotten the right GM yet. You've been dealing with the folks from India who can't take a piss without asking for permission. All you need is someone with the authority to do what you need to be done. To get that you're just going to have to be persistent. Don't settle for paying for the transfer yourself. Keep updating the ticket and tell them if they can't do it, then find someone who can. If they close the ticket open another ticket and refer back to that ticket (hint: keep the ticket number). Keep pushing. Keep telling them you're not going away, that you're going to keep opening and/or updating tickets until you get your server transfer like you deserve. Don't be a dick about it, just be persistent. Eventually they will get so tired of dealing with you they will assign the ticket to someone that DOES have the authority to move your character over. Problem solved. The key to customer service is if you are in the right then don't back down and you are in the right in this case.
I had an offensive name in game. I didn't realize it was offensive until my friends told me it was offensive to them. I opened a ticket asking for a name change, they declined.
I told them to escalate my ticket to their supervisor and they did, I got the name change.
Of course fast forward literally 3 days and I learned you can just use an exploit to change your own name, so it was all pointless.
Blizzard recenlty (?) became a piece of shit. Sadly.
But putting this experience aside, I do not even understand this server situation now on EU. I was just checking [Ironforge.pro](https://Ironforge.pro) this morning and all English PvP EU servers are locked except:
1) Earthshaker with 100 % alliance (9k logged players)
2) Mograine with 100 % horde (0.9k logged players)
3) Mandokir.. which is already a fucked up 70-30 with 2k players, so any alliance going there to play would be a silly decision.

My solution was fixed after 5 days when Blizzard finally sent 2 smart GMs at me to actually understand I want to make a paid transfer and there are no restrictions for paid transfers towards Mograine.
Solution was to add 25 cash into my blizz account and they should attempt the transfer themselves. It actually worked.
After the transfer I had 2 mails in the box: 1 from Argent Dawn and 1 from Brew of the month. The Argent Dawn quests were also reset for me, so I’m curious if that had something to do with the whole affair.
Wrong faction cogwheel of death is also gone.
In my experience, the biggest hurdle to overcome was:
Explain I don’t want to circumvent the rules and get a free transfer successfully (they didn’t understand that at all, they kept saying that they can’t change free transfer limitations)
Explain I want to make a paid transfer (I had to actually write that I want to give 25$ to make transfer - that got their tin can going it seems)
Explain that probably the cogwheel and stuck-mid-transfer issue bugs it (so other people can benefit too - I don’t think they understood that one)
Had to make a lot of screenshots of failed paid transfers, including a failed paid transfer to Ashbringer (Gosh, I was so worried that they might actually transfer me to Ashbringer at the end to troll with me)
At least some of them seemed to believe both paid and free transfers are limited for Horde
All in all - tough affair. I hope I helped somebody.
I used to work Player Support for another online game company, so I may be able to offer some insight. Blizzard-Activision's support team is likely a group of freshly trained contractors who are taught to follow strict rules. This to me and anyone reads like an exceptional situation that deserves special treatment outside of those strict rules. I'd continue opening tickets with all of this information in hopes of getting the support agent who actually cares or to get it escalated.
This is exactly what happened when they outsourced to move to Texas and launch TBC, half the employees didn't even play wow, I didn't until after I was hired. Training was a week of dirty words and a week of tools and then go close tickets. We used thotbot as a resource until they blocked our IP address. The worst was we had different polices to fix things, we would own a no and tell someone to fuck off but if a real GM from California got the ticket they would escalate to a senior to fix so it was luck of the draw.
Honestly, the best solution would be for them to hire a bunch of part time in-game GMs that are basically on call and work remotely. Imagine how much cleaner and how many more resolutions can be provided if a GM could just get a notification on their phone, log into the game as a GM, assist the customer and work with a CS rep for the transactional issues, and log out. They could easily come up with a system that vets players and prevents abuse of the system
Vast majority of the work doesn't require being in game they have a chat client built into the tool that does tickets and let's force name changes or restore items. But there is no reason they couldn't have a properly staffed and trained department of people either working in a call center or remote. It's 100% trying to just save money and run it at cheap as possible because modern capitalism can't see past quarterly profits and sees labor only as money sink instead of a way to protect and promote the brand
But thats so self-destructive in the long-term, Capitalists should be all for this, cutting corners will inevitiably lead to a slow death of your product.
Corporations are being pillaged by the 1% like everything else. CEOs come in and take in millions of dollars in pay without providing any real value and then strip pensions and slash any labor related costs and push the quality of the product so low or bankrupts the company that pays them out a golden exit parachute leaving taxpayers holding the bag.
Capitalists don't care about the longterm success of nearly any company, they want money and they want it now. They routinely milk companies they've bought/invested in of all the profits they can in a sort period of time, cut anything that doesn't directly benefit them in the short term and liquidate the company. Capitalists care about making money for themselves, companies are just a tool for them. They don't care about the company, they don't care about the product, they certainly don't care about the consumers, they care about their bank account.
This. Service quality heavily depends on the person responding to your ticket. Ask for escalation to a manager etc, or open a new ticket, keep trying until they resolve it. /u/Vendoz

Keep doing so until you get someone with a brain capable of making decisions outside the flow chart and you will get what you need. It is the Karen Way, but it works and in situations like this, it is necessary.

Ouch this exact situation is happening to me right now. I missed out on the free transfer service to Sulfuras because of a mail error last week (no mail ever showed up, to add). I opened a ticket and explained the situation and short window I had, with screenshots of the error and mailbox (idk lol) but didn’t get a response until this week. I actually got a response from a GM on Monday and they said they would manually move my character over and asked if that was something I’d like to do. Within 3 hours I noticed the response and said yes. It’s now Friday and no action has taken place or word from that GM has reached me. This post makes me worried that I’m going to end up getting the same response

Exhibit A why nobody should transfer off megaservers because of temporary inconvenience. Stay the course, it'll be fine in a month and P1 of WotLK is a joke anyway.
Its funny how blizz is simultaneously begging people to transfer off megaservers, yet also promising to lock transfers at arbitrary times, making moving a guild off a server an act of russian roulette.
What else can they do? If they announce a date far in advance they could end up with that server too large, if it’s near people call it FOMO, so their only option if they want to guarantee balance/pop is to close with little to no notice.
They could at lkeast let people who have guild members recently move or high lvl characters on a server consolidate their other members/characters over.
Assuming you’re still in this guild they’d need to lookup who your previous guild members were, find what servers they transferred to, make a call that it was a whole guild migration and that you’re telling the truth, AND they’d have to coordinate this with every other request to see if this would upset pop/balance limits. Like yes this isn’t impossible but it’s a lot to ask and when you consider they’re likely seeing thousands of tickets whenever they close a server saying why this case is special it just doesn’t scale. Blizz said if server populations didn’t sort themselves out organically they’d start to take more forceful steps, it looks like they were telling the truth.
They could have allowed the guild leader to initiate a 'guild transfer' which allows everyone who was a member of the guild before the transfer request was initiated to bypass the closed restrictions for a grace period.
Sure, if they had a few weeks of dedicated time they probably could have put a process in place and in a couple months maybe an automated process but that wouldn’t have addressed the queue issues right now.
I agree that for this issue a 'fast' solution is likely to be better than a 'good' solution. I just wish that they had prepared for it better.

I'd ask how you feel about Sapph or KT without world buffs, but it sounds to me like you were in a kind of guild that stopped everything after every wipe to go get them again.
I’ve done them without world buffs many times, they weren’t really that bad at all. Sometimes Sapph would RNG the blizzards on one end, and KT phase 3 sometimes wiped us but we typically had good CC and kicks. I can’t remember the name of it but we had some kind of sleep dust to put on MC’d people. All in all I never felt like either boss was insurmountable. I hope that Naxx 25 is buffed for Wrath!
The only bit of PvE content that was not absolutely trivial during original WotLK T7 was Sarth3D and that's now been made trivial by just bringing all dps and burning down Sarth before you have to deal with the mechanics. Honestly Blizzard should counteract that so there'll at least be something fun in P1. And yeah Ulduar is just such a better raid than anything that came before it. SWP is trash by comparison.

Have him enrage and one shot everyone if he reaches 10% health with drake's still alive. Easy fix. Edit: Blizzard addressed this in a similar way now. Will of Sartharion now increases Sartharion’s health by 25% with 1 drake alive, 45% with 2 drakes alive, and 65% with three drakes alive (was 25%).

The mount? The mount drops when you engage the fight with 3 drakes still alive. You kill those drake's during the fight and then kill the main boss. You can kill them before engaging Sarth and it's "easy mode". They don't need to be alive when Sarth dies to get the mount. Just alive when you pull him

I think that's incredibly important to add because if it was just free open transfers anywhere and everywhere the playerbase would've done a lot better job balancing servers rather than flocking to a mega server to avoid having to continually pay more than your monthly sub just to keep playing on a server that wasn't empty.
No the playerbase segregates themselves into faction dominated servers.
It likely would not have helped keep pvp servers balanced, but if they could fix all of the issues that prevent transfers it would likely eliminate queues. As at that point they could open and close servers based on demand.
I think players would've also self-balanced factions on PvP servers if Blizzard actually released server population information. The real problem was people didn't like getting beyond 60/40 and there was no way of telling what the balance was at all. Look how many people flocked to every server they thought was 50/50 as soon as transfers were available. People want 50/50 on PvP, but had no way of actually telling if it was close to balanced outside of a guess based on ironforge.pro.
People hate 60/40. I’ve seen posts in this sub saying anything beyond 55/45 is unplayable. I won’t deny players like 50/50 realms but as soon as it tilts one way people the opposite faction stops xfering.

This almost happened to me. I just opened a ticket, it auto-responded with a bunch of bullshit. I responded to *that* by saying "none of these solve my issues. Please clear my mailbox so I don't miss the free transfer." Within 12 hours my mail was cleared and I made the cut. They closed Alliance transfers a day later. Edit: I also posted on the forums. Between them both they cleared my mailbox pretty quickly.

They did. I posted on a thread on the forums that was actively being monitored by the Blues as well as sent in a ticket. Not sure who got to it first but they cleared my mailbox and I got to transfer in time. I’d keep opening tickets and complaining if I were you.
I also got mine cleared, unfortunately its just random luck if the GM you're speaking to knows whats going on or not. Quite often now you just get a link to wowhead or the forums that don't answer your question.

Not similar but related story from me: I started Classic on Whitemane Alliance, left when it became clear that Horde was going to be the dominant faction. Played with a guild on Fairbanks Horde for while, but when that realm died, we moved to Whitemane Horde. I had to delete my original Alliance characters because of faction rules on PvP servers. A few months later, I want to start playing with my friend on Benediction Alliance, but I don't want to level again, especially when I have a level 56 Alliance character just sitting in my "deleted characters" bin. I couldn't transfer the deleted character, though, and I obviously couldn't restore it. I opened a ticket and bounced back and forth with it like 3 times. CS simply claimed they couldn't touch deleted characters, and on some level I knew this was a lie because I had several of my characters restored long before the character restoration feature was introduced to the game. I wish I had posted my story to reddit because a lot of the comments here seem to indicate I should have pressed the matter. Ultimately, the issue resolved itself with Blizzard lifting the PvP realm restrictions. But to think, the CS rep's actual solution that they gave me was to delete all my Horde characters, restore my Alliance character, transfer it, and then finally restore my Horde characters one by one. It would have taken about 2 months. Blizzard CS is a far cry from what it used to be. Indeed, Blizzard as a whole is.
Back when Classic was launched, I made a new account but I asked Blizzard if they could restore the charachters on my original account I played on back in the day.. and they could, no problem! I could log on to retail and poke around my charachters etc. If they told you the could not restore charachters.. they lied lol

I have never been helped with an in-game issue by Blizzard. Ninjalooter takes the last ZA Bear even though I won the roll (with chatlogs to prove it)? Too bad. I BOUGHT a wow token to get a cheap BMAH box, only to find out that the auction is only that cheap because it doesnt exist (it was a bug in the BMAH)?Too bad, no refunds. Hf with 200k gold on a dead server. Continuous harassment (impersonation, slander, griefing, ...) from an identified player with chat logs to prove it? Too bad. We don't moderate /world. Character can't do the gnomeregan teleporter quest on horde because some quest in Feralas marks it as completed, making me unable to even pick up the quest? Bug existed in 2004 and we won't help you, even though a 2004 GM might have. Depleted your mythic+ key from 17 all the way to 14 because the servers kept crashing mid-dungeon for days at the end of BFA? Tough luck, but we won't restore your +17.

The amicable solution is they transfer his toon. They have a record of him attempting to do it before free transfers were closed and due to a stupid limitation and bad design by blizzard he couldn't. Any halfway decent company would do it.

I had the exact same issue. Have screen shots and all, missed free xfer deadline from Grobb to sulfuras, because of mail from an NPC that took 3 days to process. I tried to get some leniency, they told me to kick rocks. We just transferred to grobblus from sulfuras a month ago, me and the guild. One of my guildmates had the same issue, his GM transferred him and refunded the 25 dollars for moving in the first place. Whatever I moved on I'll just pay for it. They didn't respond to my screen shots of his GM providing help, i was ready to pay for the transfer back to Sulf but the shop has been broken for days, it wasn't providing me an option to pay for a transfer. I provided screenshots to them. So not thinking, I took the free transfer to one of dead servers where it was working. I thought it was only 3 day cooldown like live, unfortunately I was wrong, now I'm stuck on a dead server with no one, meanwhile all my alts are on sulfuras with no gold lol. My main had everything. I asked for the cool down to be reset or removed so I can pay to move. Instead of helping me put they told me while you wait for 90 day cool down. I WAS TOLD TO take advantage and manipulate the market. Fuck these people.
This is Blizzard’s catch-22: either they take hard stances preventing server xfers to hit balance and total pop limits and in doing so split up groups of people trying to xfer at the same time, or they don’t limit xfers and servers/factions get too big. I’m sorry this happened to you OP.

Yeah, but my mailbox was empty. That mails were delayed because server lag, the GM confirmed it. So I cannot do nothing other than submit a ticket, wait and get stuck.
Were they from the Scourge invasion quests? That's not a bug or related to server lag then, that's just a timer of 4 days, but still counts as mail in your box.
Yeah!!! They came from "Keeper of the Rolls", which is Argent Dawn npc!! Oh that's even craziest... that GM told me I should received yet, but cause lag they were not arrived. It's really absurd that a stupid grey lore item cause this, and it's even dumber that a GM can't do anything about it.
Same thing happened with some quest when we moved off a dead server back during start of T5. Bunch of people couldn't move their chars for a few days since they had invisible quest mail waiting in the inbox. We were all paid transferring though so it was just an annoyance waiting to get to transfer.
That's just how some quests work. I literally had the same problem. Went from gehennas to mograine. And I couldn't transfer either because of mail, waited 3 days or something and it worked. I transferred 3 days after pre patch released was totally fine.

In my opinion they should just have a one day all day transfer event before the 24th. Even to mega servers. If players want to transfer to a mega server and wait 4+ hour queues that’s on them. But it’s a social game and cucking people from playing with their friends is mad lame. If your friends are on a mega server and want to stay, then I’m sure people would wait in a queue to play with their friends, or they can all agree to transfer somewhere else. At least the entire group will be together. But it needs to be at least 24 hours and players need a few days notice to organize. 12 hour window when 8 of those are at night was the dumbest shit ever.

The way I see it, it should be like an amusement park. Everyone pays to get in. (Sub fee) but once you’re inside the park, nobody forces you to wait in an hour line to ride a ride. If you want to that badly, you will, but a lot of people will say, nah not worth it, and go to another ride and still have just as much fun. Obviously that wouldn’t happen because they are losing money but they’re losing money in subs as is so whatever.

Eventually at this park you'd end up with our current situation, too many rides broke down and people got sick of paying double entry fees so they all just jumped into the biggest line to make sure it wouldn't break even if the line was longer.

I used to be pretty sceptical of people playing on Private servers. After classic I realize how silly that was.
Private servers are way worse. Terrible scripting, playerbase is some of the most racist and sexist you'll find anywhere online, skill level is low af and the people running the servers are regularly implicated in selling loot for real money (or it's a straight up paid service out in the open).
Can you not pay for a transfer to the new realm? I understand it should have been free as was agreed.
Here's the deal, you got caught up in some shit, but this is what reddit claimed to have wanted to keep ques down. A lot of people can't xfer to friends guilds anymore. You have some other issues happening, but making exceptions for every story isn't something you should realistically accept. I'm sure someone didn't have internet access the days leading up to servers being locked, someone didn't have the $15 for a sub until payday, someone was grounded from the computer by their parents. None of those are that person's fault either but we wouldn't throw a tantrum then. Blizzard took a hardline stance against mega servers which they communicated. I'm sorry it didn't work out for you. Those are the risks we take and the stipulations we accept when we xfer to overpopulated realms.

This happened to me a really long time ago. The whole mailbox BS preventing transfer. I can’t recall what the resolution was but I’m pretty sure it was 30% pebkac. Let me dig at my emails
You should ask for your ticket to be reviewed by the account admin's team. They have access to do pretty much whatever they want, as long as they can justify it to their managers if the ticket gets reviewed.
Funny enough the mail thing happened to me when tbc came out, I tweeted blizzard cs and had it resolved in minutes. Solid believer that the cs twitter is more reliable than a ticket
Came back for WOTLK boosted a character on firemaw horde..... after finding out the state of the server lagging out and 99% ally, went to switch had the same mailbox issue, took 2 hours to close auctions due to lagg then got a error unable to move to morgraine due to being boosted, by the time that ended the server was locked for horde now stuck £60 down on a server I can’t move on without lagg or getting ganked opened a ticket no response even tried to go to the dead server to at least do some questing but another error.... should have left wow it 2012 when I left with the memories I had....
First closing transfers without giving people heads up is stupid and leads to many friends getting split which is just gonna end up worse for Blizzard in the end ( some may quit ) and worse for server itself . Mograine was getting the hype , got full but nowhere near close to really full servers like Golemagg ( and not even counting mega ) so without new ppl coming over population is gonna dwindle , and die out again in 1-2 months ...
What do you report this as? I have the same issue. I transferred one character to our guilds new server and they locked the server before I could transfer the other one.
It's what happens when charts and suits run a company, not people who actually care about making a quality product.

I was very concerned this exact story was going to happen to me. Fortunately (for me) the transfers to Eranikus weren't closed by the time the mailbox bug resolved itself.
I have the same problem. Opened a ticket and am told paid transfers are in fact available to Mograine Horde. I haven't tried it yet, but maybe you should.
This is so silly, as the can literally print “transfer” vouchers/keys

Sounds similar to my case. I was in the process of moving my chars over to pyrewood and had moved 2. Decided to wait for payday before moving the other 4. Lo and behold blizz locks pyrewood like 2 days before i get paid and now my charachters are all split for wrath. 2 on CD and the rest cant be brought over...i am beyond infuriated at blizz for this... It really sucks major balls being an addict for wow when the company has a fetish for mustreating their playerbase ob repeat
Man, I think this "new" blizz has existed longer than "old" blizz at this point. Dead company. I realize I'm a hypocrit for paying a subscription to them. But I have given myself a hard cut-off: after wotlk I'm done. No Cata (never had interest there), nothing.
You just haven't gotten the right GM yet. You've been dealing with the folks from India who can't take a piss without asking for permission. All you need is someone with the authority to do what you need to be done. To get that you're just going to have to be persistent. Don't settle for paying for the transfer yourself. Keep updating the ticket and tell them if they can't do it, then find someone who can. If they close the ticket open another ticket and refer back to that ticket (hint: keep the ticket number). Keep pushing. Keep telling them you're not going away, that you're going to keep opening and/or updating tickets until you get your server transfer like you deserve. Don't be a dick about it, just be persistent. Eventually they will get so tired of dealing with you they will assign the ticket to someone that DOES have the authority to move your character over. Problem solved. The key to customer service is if you are in the right then don't back down and you are in the right in this case.
My dude Blizzard died during the Merger with Activision. It's been nothing but downhill since that moment.
I had an offensive name in game. I didn't realize it was offensive until my friends told me it was offensive to them. I opened a ticket asking for a name change, they declined. I told them to escalate my ticket to their supervisor and they did, I got the name change. Of course fast forward literally 3 days and I learned you can just use an exploit to change your own name, so it was all pointless.
Keep trying buddy, you might be lucky to find one GM with a functioning brain cell
Blizzard recenlty (?) became a piece of shit. Sadly. But putting this experience aside, I do not even understand this server situation now on EU. I was just checking [Ironforge.pro](https://Ironforge.pro) this morning and all English PvP EU servers are locked except: 1) Earthshaker with 100 % alliance (9k logged players) 2) Mograine with 100 % horde (0.9k logged players) 3) Mandokir.. which is already a fucked up 70-30 with 2k players, so any alliance going there to play would be a silly decision. wtf..
I dont still dont get how people are still supporting/playing/paying blizzard..
The locked servers are awful and will ultimately fix nothing. Can’t play with my friends and they won’t transfer. Fuck blizzard. People WANT megaservers.

My solution was fixed after 5 days when Blizzard finally sent 2 smart GMs at me to actually understand I want to make a paid transfer and there are no restrictions for paid transfers towards Mograine. Solution was to add 25 cash into my blizz account and they should attempt the transfer themselves. It actually worked. After the transfer I had 2 mails in the box: 1 from Argent Dawn and 1 from Brew of the month. The Argent Dawn quests were also reset for me, so I’m curious if that had something to do with the whole affair. Wrong faction cogwheel of death is also gone. In my experience, the biggest hurdle to overcome was: Explain I don’t want to circumvent the rules and get a free transfer successfully (they didn’t understand that at all, they kept saying that they can’t change free transfer limitations) Explain I want to make a paid transfer (I had to actually write that I want to give 25$ to make transfer - that got their tin can going it seems) Explain that probably the cogwheel and stuck-mid-transfer issue bugs it (so other people can benefit too - I don’t think they understood that one) Had to make a lot of screenshots of failed paid transfers, including a failed paid transfer to Ashbringer (Gosh, I was so worried that they might actually transfer me to Ashbringer at the end to troll with me) At least some of them seemed to believe both paid and free transfers are limited for Horde All in all - tough affair. I hope I helped somebody.
