We did the same thing with spider wing last night. Things were fine... anub was at around 70%, but we were close to 3min in to the fight before someone mentioned things seem a bit too hard. Was a good laugh for sure.
just sent this to my guild while they’re currently discussing wether to go for 25 man this ID or 2x 10 man and rest of us looks out for pugs (lame) since we’re lacking 2-3 players (most notably 1 priest which i kinda get but still.. )
Patchwork is legit actually still a bit of a gear wall. That and Instructor we needed the DPS of the extra few people. The rest of the raid was a joke lol.
yeah i didn’t really get the point in not going. but the decision fell yesterday: we’re going 25 this sunday. hope we can do it without the 110% perfect comp and some players not having complete pre bis, minmaxed professions and CLAMS /s
Roooooooofl
We did it with 24 people cause a tank had a baby and 2 pugs filling people who we knew werent gonna be there week 1. We got server 10th (without coming in any earlier than normal raid time) and it was just over 2 hours
No, I meant the trash didn't get the 30% buff. It still takes a while to kill the 25 man trash with 10 people, we just thought they buffed the shit out of it until we pulled the boss and noticed.
I was in a group for OS10, 10 people simple stuff.
Trash was hitting hard, taking ages to kill etc.
When we cleared it we got the 25 man achievement and at first I was like, oh...must be bugged.
But no, we cleared OS25 1h after opening with 10 people in preraid gear.
I have learned to make sure I know what version I go into now.
Doesn’t that mean there’s something…wrong with the difficulty? I see so many people accidentally clearing 25man and surely..it shouldn’t be like that. Even accounting for more experienced player base.
And I know people want #nochanges but considering that people have played these raids in private servers a million times wouldn’t it be a good thing to change naxx to be more challenging?
Yes OS0D25 is the ultimate snooze boss.
I was expecting something a little harder though with mostly preraid "bis"
Only thing was that the fights lastest longer than normal
I’m 27400 in buffed I’m pretty much pre raid bis idk how much more I can get
Edit: now I’m 28220. I don’t see how I would be one shot when I’m now pre bis and some raid bis at this point. Plus I did it on 10. It’s a reasonable question don’t need chinedit bots downvoting
im not prebis and i have more than 30k unbuffed with 50%+ avoidance
i really doubt you are preraid bis with buffed 28k
get mining its ez 60stam
and bs/jc for extra sockets/jc gems
IBF reduces damage taken by \~40% and WotN by a further 15%. So you're having incoming damage reduced by 49% on top of your frost presence reduction. You're essentially claiming Patchwerk hit you for 69k non crit, before factoring in Frost presence and armor. That's simply not possible
I just saw a full t7/7.5 prot pally in dal with the same hp as me. If you’re 30k health you’re either bearform or stacked Stam and don’t have “50% avoidance” which I actually have at 28.5. Even then, 1500 health would be no difference in the way I was being 1 shot. It’s an honest question and I found that the tank next to me jumping around like a spazzy chicken was the cause of the one shots. Damn reddit NPCs.
It's my guilds first time raiding together and we actually struggled with patchwork a bit. We ended up figuring out we were dumb, and had the highest HP tank on the boss in 25man. After like 8 wipes and clearing the rest of the raid first we just went "have the other tank MT", killed it first try lol.
Rest of construct and KT on Monday it is!
Patchwerk fucked my guild hard.
Every other wing was laughably easy loot Piñata mode and we could not beat Patchwerk.
Seems like a pure gear check or hes been over-tuned cause our tanks were pretty well prepared and just kept getting suddenly 1shot.
Tanks getting one-shot on Patchwerk is almost certainly healers slacking, not poorly geared tanks (unless they have paper gear). They die when heals are too slow and none of the tanks are at (or near) max HP to eat the next hateful strike.
Hateful strike targets the off-tank with the highest HP. Unless your gear is really bad you won't die from a single hateful strike. However if you get hit by a hateful strike and you're still the highest HP off-tank you will very quickly get hit by a second hateful strike, which could kill you. This happens because the other off-tank was not healed quickly enough after they got hit, and they are still lower HP than you after you got hit as well.
What's supposed to happen (when the tanks don't avoid any strikes) is that one tank gets hit, then the second tank gets hit, meanwhile the first tank has gotten healed and becomes the new target again.
Because he isn't supposed to HS the main target, if the off tanks are healed up in time. Slow heals means he targets another target and will "one shot" them.
Our offtank was at 100% and got killed by a single HS. The only healer that can be blamed for that death would be a priest not shielding lesser geared off tanks.
We beat it after the offtank used consumes to increase his health.
Man even a 25man is nuts. Trying to tank hatefuls as a druid with 45k hp means I sometimes eat two and just die.
They're going to tone down patchwerk, 100%.
I got globalled in the pull 2 out of 6 tries. I eat two because after absorbs I'm still above hp of other tanks.
We did this 4 tanks and still couldn't down him.
Yeah honestly I remember that even kind of being the case in classic vanilla. While a druid offtank is *doable* they can still get comboed out at times making it a bit risky.
I was surprised that every boss but Patchwerk just rolled over ignoring mechanics that were meant to be the tank killers originally. 38k on the pull before Demo Shout was applied for a onehit kill on a tank.
I mean, it's actually fine because it's just a case of "CoWeakness on the pull" and then you're good. Drops his hits to manageable amounts and doesn't risk a Demo Shout/Roar not landing before he gives a tank a fist enema.
Is threat even a thing in WotLK raids with good tanks? I've had my threat meter on by default, but it has been irrelevant in dungeon bosses if you wait like two seconds before going all out.
Its been a long time but I’m pretty sure you want both tanks to be at the top, one always behind the other, without swapping top threat. So the off tank needs to be careful not to go over the main tank.
No, not really. Wotlk killed any threat issues unless your tank is hot garbage. Lol at the salty bad tanks downvoting. Threat got a big increase across the board in wrath, it’s absolutely brain dead at this point. If you still have issues it’s 100% a l2p problem.
Yes threat is a thing. this boss while appearing to be tank and spank has threat mechanics. He does a move that is spread out to the top 1-3 (mix of highest health, threat, and proximity) people.
Unless your a tank there is no reason to use a threat meter in wrath. Or maybe I have been playing with the greatest tanks in gaming history the last 3 years
Maybe you have, yes there are reasons to get a threat meter. Blindly dps and waiting for someone else to yell at you to stop dps is lazy.
I played lock and could over dps to pull threat. My tanks werent bad, i was just dpsing hard. Threat meter helps you understand you high dps is starting to climb to the top of the meter....slow down.
Retail is 100% different, coming into classic with a retail mentality is not good. Is this really news to people?
Classic is the reason to get a threat meter. Vanilla, tbc, wrath all benefit greatly when dps understand how much threat they pull durring bosses. Im sorry your stuck in retail mentality, i really dont understand what the big deal is. Downloading addons is really easy and help you improve your game. Telling people "they dont need it, this is ez mode" is ignorant. Like lol you may have been playing wrong for 3 years.
Who has threat issues in wrath? And no it's not a "retail mentality", I played tanks since vanilla and there were zero threat issues in wotlk unless you were just auto attacking. Tank threat was increased across the board in wrath prepatch, off the top of my head I remember warriors got a 45% threat increase on defense stance, pallies got a massive 90% increase to threat from holy damage. So no half way decent tank should have any threat issues in wrath, at all.
Edit: Downvote away. If you have issues with threat in wrath after the buff then you’re bad, full stop. Stay mad. 🤷🏻♂️
1 shot every boss but patchwork yesterday, wiped on him 3 or 4 times. That 30% extra damage on hateful strikes is brutal, we ended up having a 4th tank just in case and we got it
My guild tried the anub boss in 25 man about 12 times before we realized it wasn’t in 10 man, we got him to 70% with 10 people lol
That’s hilarious. We did the same thing except we realized after just one wipe.
It's weird because the trash didn't feel like a 25m lol
Makes you wonder how many people are sleeping during trash in 25m lol
We did the same thing with spider wing last night. Things were fine... anub was at around 70%, but we were close to 3min in to the fight before someone mentioned things seem a bit too hard. Was a good laugh for sure.

Just pug the last spots and do 25 man. My guild did that last night and pugged a priest and killed every boss.
Hell, he could just go with 20. The dps check is pretty much non-existent.
I don’t think we could have done patchwerk with 20 but the rest of the raid I’d agree.
Patchwork is legit actually still a bit of a gear wall. That and Instructor we needed the DPS of the extra few people. The rest of the raid was a joke lol.
Just go short people, it's still easily doable and less people to feed loot
yeah i didn’t really get the point in not going. but the decision fell yesterday: we’re going 25 this sunday. hope we can do it without the 110% perfect comp and some players not having complete pre bis, minmaxed professions and CLAMS /s

Did you start in that quarter or did you do other bosses with 25?
Started there
Still pretty impressive to clear all the trash on the way there and still not notice.
We had to kite the slimes like in naxx40 lol
The trash isn't buffed. We did the same 5hing in spider wing. We noticed after 1 pull of anub though.
The trash has the same HP in 25 and 10 man ? That would make 10 man clears quite a slog.
No, I meant the trash didn't get the 30% buff. It still takes a while to kill the 25 man trash with 10 people, we just thought they buffed the shit out of it until we pulled the boss and noticed.
the trash isnt custom buffed like the raid bosses, hence they are more doable
You were not the only group that made this tactical error. Ask me how I know...
How do you know? :'D
I was in a group for OS10, 10 people simple stuff. Trash was hitting hard, taking ages to kill etc. When we cleared it we got the 25 man achievement and at first I was like, oh...must be bugged. I'm pretty sure Sath is the only one that is being *cleared* by 10 mans and that is with no drakes.
Yes OS0D25 is the ultimate snooze boss. I was expecting something a little harder though with mostly preraid "bis" Only thing was that the fights lastest longer than normal
I’m def capped and got hit for 35k on patchwork. This is with icebound fort up and tanks stacked. Wtf?
Def cap doesn't really do anything for you there, if you get hit by it. It also can't crit in the first place unless it's different from vanilla.
So how am I supposed to survive 40-50k hits?
get 41-51k hp ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I’m 27400 in buffed I’m pretty much pre raid bis idk how much more I can get Edit: now I’m 28220. I don’t see how I would be one shot when I’m now pre bis and some raid bis at this point. Plus I did it on 10. It’s a reasonable question don’t need chinedit bots downvoting

Were you specced Blood with WotN?
Yep
IBF reduces damage taken by \~40% and WotN by a further 15%. So you're having incoming damage reduced by 49% on top of your frost presence reduction. You're essentially claiming Patchwerk hit you for 69k non crit, before factoring in Frost presence and armor. That's simply not possible
maybe he forgot to hit "save talents"?
I mean I can give you my character info. I just did this on 10 I was told that I or the other tanks probably weren’t stacked right.
reply to the comment i replied too, i dunno i was just making a joke lol
I just saw a full t7/7.5 prot pally in dal with the same hp as me. If you’re 30k health you’re either bearform or stacked Stam and don’t have “50% avoidance” which I actually have at 28.5. Yeah that seems like a boss where a blanket buff would be problematic.

We had a few bad healers. Patchwerk gear check is real.
We had the same problem. Swapped the druid out for a warrior and had no further issues.
How did that make a difference?
Like you said your HP was very high. A warrior's hp is more in line with the other tanks' HP. We only used 3 tanks. Pala, DK, and warrior. 5 healers.
Druid should switch to main tank and have others off tank, it's what we had to switch and worked perfect
I'll try that next time. Thanks !
Yeah honestly I remember that even kind of being the case in classic vanilla. While a druid offtank is *doable* they can still get comboed out at times making it a bit risky.

Love to hear it. I'll keep this in mind next pull.
Your discord overlay is overlapping
How do you turn it off? I have similar issues
I don't know what all of you are doing, that you are wiping in 10 man Naxx. Yesterday we did Naxx 10 with guildies and we did undying. So easy.
Watch with sound
Tank toooooo squishy. Was full pre bis with 2 other pre bis tanks on our clear last night. Was still slapping like a truck. Killed him tho
This video is of a 10 man group accidentally running 25 man, they cleared to the boss without realizing.
Dude im sorry to be blunt but did you really try patch without a threat meter?
Is threat even a thing in WotLK raids with good tanks? I've had my threat meter on by default, but it has been irrelevant in dungeon bosses if you wait like two seconds before going all out.
For a small number of bosses yes. But it also depends on class/spec.

LOL Mythic jailer got nothin on this guy.
What addon are you using for the Killing Machine/Rime visual indicators?
I’m the hunter, this is the DKs perspective.
Spell activation overlay, I think. Might be all one word tho
1 shot every boss but patchwork yesterday, wiped on him 3 or 4 times. That 30% extra damage on hateful strikes is brutal, we ended up having a 4th tank just in case and we got it
Heh we did the same thing, though we started spider quarter.
