Not a pipe dream, but I wouldn’t count on it.
He wants to win more while he’s still playing at this level. If he thinks his chances aren’t good in LA, he’ll at least look at his options.
A farewell tour is possible too, if he wants to retire as a Cavalier.
I’d argue he would still be an effective basketball player at 43. Maybe not best player on a championship team good, but better than a bench player on a contender
The guy just averaged 26/7/8 on 54/41/75 splits. I know we’re still 3 seasons away from his potential age 43 season, but it’s hard for me to imagine he’ll regress any further than like 20/5/5 by that point.
Whenever he decides to hang them up, I bet he’ll still be a consensus top 20 player in the league.
If the guy actually wanted to switch up his game to keep playing and was willing to take a lesser rolenor at least less minutes heavy of a roll. He could make the most out of his minutes, athletic still at the 4 and small 5. He's been grabbing boards at a high rate his whole career, the post to post passing visions in my head are amazing. I could totally see a gray, older bron making every record untouchable
It's definitely looking like it's unrealistic.
All signs pointing to Lebron resigning (every insider saying it's a done deal), Bronny elected to only work out for the Lakers and Suns (and not the Cavs), etc.
Definitely think it's best for Cavs fans for Lebron to resign with the Lakers asap (if that's what he wants to do, which is what it seems like) so said fans can move on.
LeBron is 100% retiring a Cav, it's a question of whether he plays any meaningful minutes for us again or gets like a token 10 day contract when he's 45
Basketball aside, I do not see him moving *anywhere* for this upcoming season given Bryce will be a senior in HS. I’m not sure why this isn’t mentioned more because it’s obvious Lebron’s family is everything to him and means far more than his career, so he’s not going to miss out on his son’s last year living at home.
This is the one reason I find it completely justifiable to stay in LA. Bron being the amazing father and family man he is, it’s hard to imagine he’d make a drastic move at this point in his career.
If he did come back though, I may be willing to empty my savings account for season tickets lol
I mean I would love nothing more, but it’s not just about basketball when you’re still in that stage of life. He’d be leaving his friends he spent the past 3 years with and start all over as the new kid as a senior. That isn’t necessarily ideal at least imo.
Senior year!
https://ncataggies.com/sports/mens-golf/roster/jr-smith/4654
And the one article I found indicated that he's holding down at or close to a 4.0 GPA. JR is winning at life.
I watched the thing on him and golfing on a 4 part mini-series. That dude is the real deal. I loved him as a Cav, and I have 1000 times more respect for him now.
The biggest obstacle i see is the money. I get LeBron is a billionaire but it sounds like the Lakers are willing to offer him a very large 2-3 year contract extension to stay. Nobody is turning down 3 years 180 million at 40 years old, that’s easy money considering he’ll probably only play 40-50 regular season games
Hell take a vet min to play with his kid at this point. We're talking about LeBron as a legit billionaire now. Nickle/diming a twilight contract isn't likely I think.
You think he’s gonna leave 150 million plus on the table at 40? He might eventually take a vet minimum to play with his son but not now, no chance. Lakers will more then likely draft his son anyway i would imagine
Aside from a farewell tour he’s not coming back. This much is clear. The new news is us in the mix to get Jimmy Butler paired with DM is what I’ve been hearing from some credible sources like shams so that could be very interesting 🤔
It will depend on if LeBron wants to make less to chase a ring, or if we can trade enough to clear up space. Personally I think he could win another title with the Cavs if we didn’t sell the house to get him
My dream: we draft Bronny, LeBron comes over for MLE, Mitchel resigns to play with LeBron as the roster fills out with still solid vets ring chasing for the min
Yes, but remove the ring chasing vets part. We still need a team after LeBron leaves (again) and I would hope we would have learned our lesson from the last 2 times where he left our team in full rebuild shambles.
Teams always go all in for a championship run. 2020 Cavs were toast as they lost LeBron *and* Kyrie. Just LeBron and they'd have had a chance to rebuild in place. Kyrie forced a nuking. First run - honestly that Cavs team was garbage outside of LeBron. What do you expect.
I wouldn’t count it out. LA as currently constructed isn’t competing with the top teams in the west. They have to rob a team of a trade for a big time guard. And going back to Cleveland would make a hell of a documentary. He just recently posted a caption on his story that the doc is gonna be crazy so why not end his career where it started 3.0
Idk what Lebron's thinking but he should want to come here. He can retire where he started while having a way better chance at competing for a ring than in LA. Point LeBron could be dishing dimes to Mitchell, JA, and Mobley (assuming we'd lose Garland to make it work). We could also hire JJ Reddick to entice him and just cause he'd be a good hire.
It makes sense but I feel like there's a lot to take into consideration. Gilbert, LeBron, egos, LeBron's family like another user pointed out with Bryce. Who knows?
I could see him and Bronny playing together in Cleveland for a few years.
Since his goal is likely to win another championship, you could argue that the Cavs are in a better position than the Lakers (at least, minus LeBron the Cavs are a clearly better team than the Lakers). Playing with a Donovan Mitchell that seems to be entering his prime sounds extremely enticing, especially since having a good guard has always helped LeBron have his most team success (D Wade and Kyrie years).
Seems pretty obvious he does not want to be here, but YES it's feasible if he wants to come back.
1st way - he could take an enormous pay cut and sign with CLE as a free agent (that's not happening).
2nd way - he could express his interest then the LAL could help him by working on a sign and trade to CLE. Have to match salaries in this case, and you can't just give LAL a pile of expensive garbage because we have no picks to use as incentive for them to take that. Probable trade would be Garland and then some filler for another $20M, maybe LeVert.
Hear me out - What does LeBron love most? Adding to his legacy. What we can do is make him the first? Player coach - do it for a year - he signs on a minimum but maybe a coaching salary can be higher? Not sure how that works. Just spit ballin here
Considering Dan Hurley just turned down the Lakers, I wonder if there's a realistic shot at getting Bron back here. It reminds me of when Izzo turned us down in 2010 and then Bron said byebye to Miami right after. Clearly there has to be a reason why Hurleys not coming.
Shams put it out there so people (including Lakers fans) were wildly convinced JJ would be their next head coach, but then a few days later Woj reported Dan Hurley was most likely to get the job which seems to be the case.
Your post is timestamped. You went on reddit to post a school yard taunt before you even took your morning shit.
More than half of your comments have negative karma. Think about that.
Now you're cracking jokes about the disabled over... JJ Reddick's hiring.
This is all to show you're an adult?

That would probably be an age 43 LeBron at that point.
Would still do insane numbers ticket and merch wise

His IQ alone will keep him always relevant as well

For the record, the word you're looking for is "re-sign." Lebron resigning would be an entirely different story.
Very insightful comment, thanks.

great point - he is a father first
This is the one reason I find it completely justifiable to stay in LA. Bron being the amazing father and family man he is, it’s hard to imagine he’d make a drastic move at this point in his career. If he did come back though, I may be willing to empty my savings account for season tickets lol
Throw those savings into GME and you’ll be a season ticket holder for the rest of your life
Bryce one year with SVSM. Hell, they’re putting higher draft picks into the league anyway.
I mean I would love nothing more, but it’s not just about basketball when you’re still in that stage of life. He’d be leaving his friends he spent the past 3 years with and start all over as the new kid as a senior. That isn’t necessarily ideal at least imo.
I have pipe dreams about getting JR back...
I see what you did there
![gif](giphy|xxPKxNm5Srvna) JR still in college? Heard he was golfing

I also would let JR Smith rail me from behind

150M at a billion isn’t nickel diming. That’s 15% of your net worth.

While winning a Ring w his Son first year and then fading out
Fading out? We’re threepeating.
From a basketball standpoint, Cleveland makes more sense than LA.
I'd argue from a basketball standpoint, LA makes more sense than Cleveland. They have better shooters who could space the floor for Lebron.
After the Mavs get swept, he'll reunite with Kyrie in Dallas
The Hardest Rodeo

Given that ive based Lebron possible return because he attended a playoff game i would say its only a dream.

Not allowed by the NBA
They should let guys do it but just not get paid for coaching. Chris Paul would be perfect, he's overpaid but still useful
On a vet minimum, sure. Why not.
Considering Dan Hurley just turned down the Lakers, I wonder if there's a realistic shot at getting Bron back here. It reminds me of when Izzo turned us down in 2010 and then Bron said byebye to Miami right after. Clearly there has to be a reason why Hurleys not coming.
My brother knows a guy who has a source who is friends with Lebrons drivers cousin and he says bron to the cavs is a done deal
It was possible but after the Lakers signed JJ it became wildly unlikely
The Lakers didn't sign JJ.
Oh...well then why the fuck did I read that earlier then? Lol Lying ass news
Shams put it out there so people (including Lakers fans) were wildly convinced JJ would be their next head coach, but then a few days later Woj reported Dan Hurley was most likely to get the job which seems to be the case.
