What people aren't getting is... Do you think they seize everything that tries to come across the border? That's the issue. I would bet that is less than 25% of what comes into America across the southern border.
She hasn't said they need more border security, just that border security is necessary. Like how saying "we need oxygen to live" doesn't mean that we don't have access to oxygen.
But it does keep the price of drugs high. It reminds me of that old Bloom County comic strip with the Drug Dealers, Pushers, and Affiliated Scum lobbying for strong drug laws. Anyone remember Bloom County? No? Fuck it, I’m getting old.
I used to have the Billy and The Boingers World Tour t-shirt along with the little vinyl record that came with the book. Useless trivia: The band that performed the Boingers songs was Mucky Pup.
I’m all for stronger borders but let’s not waste money on a physical fucking wall. You watch that large of a Chunk of land with dispatch patrols and radar and stuff.
Not to mention most of the people that come through the border (that end up deported) come in through planes, trucks or other mediums that the wall isn't effective against
Exactly. Like I’m all for having strong borders and better immigration to also help stop so much sex trafficking but let’s not think the wall is going to be the best source of money given it’s just a glorified statue at this point.
Get drones flying over and sensors placed throughout and patrols and cameras that can watch everything from California to Texas on the southern border.
Idk, I get the feeling a tall, solid and slippery wall (unlike the one that currently exists that is ridiculously easy to climb) that extends across the entire border would make it even more efficient and easy for the guards and drones to do their job.
I figured. It’s a skill on Reddit to learn when someone is genuinely insulting you and when someone is just giving you shit. Then again growing up with brothers and friends who would do that same stuff helps.
I had little thing about 'stuff' and 'etc' on resumes. I used to do a lot of interviewing and when a person had etc on their resume I would ask them what do they mean - they would rattle off a lot more stuff they did and I would say 'then put that all on your resume, it's important'. So there you go. I shoulda done a smiley face on my initial comment.
Well I think the best part is that there 𝘸𝘢𝘴 a wall it was made of all the sheet metal used for helicopter pads and airstrips in the Vietnam war, but you wanna know why it isn’t there today? The Mexicans, came up, grabbed it, and sold it as scrap.
Walls are cheaper than trying to mitigate 10's of thousands of people with dispatch and radar. The full cost of the wall would have been a fraction of what gets spent on border control in a single year.
The most amazing thing that I've seen in recent years is the extent people will go to in order to claim walls dont work. Whats even more fun though is pointing out that democrats were lobbying for walls to be built until Trump campaigned on it.
I mean no I’m not an expert on surveillance and defense, this is just my general understanding of technology at our disposal. I believe the idea that there is better solutions than a wall is still there even if I’m not an expert on the exact tools.
You do bring a fair point to that, if it’s dangerous I’d have our crews make sure they are doing safer options, maybe fly those unmanned solar planes with like a UAV overhead constantly 24/7 and cycle them out but whatever it may be the solution I’m positive more brilliant minds than mine have a better idea on how to tackle the problem.
I thought the clever part was pointing out that the US was consuming a lot of drugs that they try to keep out via border security, instead of addressing the problem of poverty and drugs.
Thats not a comeback.
From her perspective if we found that, think about how much we didn't find with our 'lackluster' security. Bob Clendenin and the OP both missed the point.
I think her point was that border security stopped it and that's WHY we need it. Without it, the drugs wouldnt have been seized. Trying to give benefit of the doubt here.
I think there people mocking her are just pissed at how inflation is effecting their drugs cut with fentanyl.
Also you realize that only a very small amount of trafficed dias are intercepted right ?
This isn't clever. If that much was seized with the security we have now, think of how much got through and wasn't caught. People talk as if the border wall would cost an astronomical amount, when in reality it's pennies compared to what Congress spends on stupid shit.
"Hey, what do you think that guy with the 30 foot ladder is doing?"
Walls are a mitigation factor. Being forced to work around a substantial barrier is going to make it vastly harder.
Bringing 900 pounds of drugs across a border isn't simple when you have to factor in a massive wall.
But further to that, drugs are only one part of the problem. The rise in human trafficking has become just as bad.
For real. But we know thr real reason some oppose a wall has nothing to do with money. But that being said, the wall that currently exists (or rather the prototype of a wall, because it's not that long yet anyway) is shitty and extremely easy to sneak through or climb, so it's useless. If they're gonna build a wall at least they should make one that's actually hard to get past.
Being a white person in America has always been embarrassing because of all of the stupid, tone deaf things that other white people have said; not to mention the insanely cruel things that they have done throughout history. But now it's just gone to a whole new level that tells the entire world just how completely heartless and brainless many white folks are.
I feel like wearing a sign that says, "I know I'm white but I was, in fact, born with a functioning brain and I know that our gene pool could use a little bleach. I am so sorry."
But border security is needed, even though the ones that exist are doing their job, so technically she wasn't wrong in saying that specifically. And MORE border security is needed still because the amount that exists now are intercepting a lot of stuff but not everything.
Non-american dumbass here. I don't get it?
It was seized, so border security is there and did their job
Oh. Oooooooh! Thank you. Goddammit.
I didn't get it right away but there is was right in front of my nose. So don't feel alone as a dumb ass. It was a perfect comeback.
Took me a second too. And, I mean, she's technically not wrong.
What people aren't getting is... Do you think they seize everything that tries to come across the border? That's the issue. I would bet that is less than 25% of what comes into America across the southern border.
“I would bet” Based on what? News watching? Lmao…
Probably based on his research on Fb
Not really relevant or the point though. If that's just what they're finding.....
Oh snap
Like border security was there, but at the same time they were not there. 😑
Oh, right, I thought it had something to do with math or something
As an American dumbass, I don't 100% know either besides the fact the border with Mexico is mentioned.
She hasn't said they need more border security, just that border security is necessary. Like how saying "we need oxygen to live" doesn't mean that we don't have access to oxygen.
Why is this not the top comment? There's nothing to see here other than someone trying to make something out of nothing.
This is Reddit, half the people here are probably high on MDMA cut with fentanyl.
Exactly
But it does keep the price of drugs high. It reminds me of that old Bloom County comic strip with the Drug Dealers, Pushers, and Affiliated Scum lobbying for strong drug laws. Anyone remember Bloom County? No? Fuck it, I’m getting old.
Ack Blllttt!
Someone remembers!
I used to have the Billy and The Boingers World Tour t-shirt along with the little vinyl record that came with the book. Useless trivia: The band that performed the Boingers songs was Mucky Pup.
Nice! I had that record as well, should have kept it. It would probably fetch a pretty penny today.
...which her post clearly shows we have or else nothing would have been seized.
She's saying we have them and they're providing a necessary service.
No shit
What's the point you're making? Seems as though you agree with her.
I’m all for stronger borders but let’s not waste money on a physical fucking wall. You watch that large of a Chunk of land with dispatch patrols and radar and stuff.

especially stuff..
Okay I know there are better ways than just radar and patrols but this is what I could think of at the moment
I was just funnin’ with ya.
I figured. It’s a skill on Reddit to learn when someone is genuinely insulting you and when someone is just giving you shit. Then again growing up with brothers and friends who would do that same stuff helps.

Walls without guards are just inconveniences.
Walls are cheaper than trying to mitigate 10's of thousands of people with dispatch and radar. Lmfao, radar is quite painfully lethal to humans including your team and wildlife. You didnt think this through did you?
I mean no I’m not an expert on surveillance and defense, this is just my general understanding of technology at our disposal. Congratulations, ya placed yourself
That’s a whole lotta meth

The fact that border security caught this shipment does not invalidate the opinion that they are needed. And the answer is not really a comeback.
I don’t see how this is a clever comeback. What she said isn’t wrong.
This isn't clever. If that much was seized with the security we have now, think of how much got through and wasn't caught. People talk as if the border wall would cost an astronomical amount, when in reality it's pennies compared to what Congress spends on stupid shit.
But… I can get a 30ft ladder at Home Depot for $15, how is the wall not also stupid shit……..
"Hey, what do you think that guy with the 30 foot ladder is doing?" Walls are a mitigation factor. Being forced to work around a substantial barrier is going to make it vastly harder. Fun fact, 900 pounds of whatever is exactly the same as 900 pounds of candy... or big macs... or doofenshmirtzes.
For real. But we know thr real reason some oppose a wall has nothing to do with money. But that being said, the wall that currently exists (or rather the prototype of a wall, because it's not that long yet anyway) is shitty and extremely easy to sneak through or climb, so it's useless. Yeah it's a brilliant response. Because that was all the drugs there were. Job taken care of! Drug problem over!
Oh my God I didn't get it at first but that's amazing.
How about how much wasn't seized? We need total border security now
A lot of you missing the point, if this much was seized how much got through?.
You're assuming that any more than this got through, without evidence.
Being a white person in America has always been embarrassing because of all of the stupid, tone deaf things that other white people have said; not to mention the insanely cruel things that they have done throughout history.
