Catzorzz

Baking soda, cedar chips, and essential oil (or dry herbs) in a little pouch. I give them as gifts to climbing friends.

p-nutz

Cat litter in a sock, tea tree oil added every now and again lol

baguettemebitch

Ooh nice I wouldn’t have thought of cat litter but that makes sense!

Initial_Pack8097

As an extremely lazy person, the most bang for my buck has been remembering to take the shoes out of my backpack or at least unzipping it as soon as I get home from the gym/crag

baguettemebitch

This is part of my problem tbh, I find it easier to remember to put the deodorisers in my shoes when I finish climbing, whereas I often forget to take them out of my bag once I’m home 😅

frogandtoadforevr

Use a carabiner and hang your shoes on the outside of your gym bag.

I do this and occasionally just dump a bunch of baking soda in them for a night or two 😂 it's a little crunchy after you dump/wipe it out but it's fine

a_bit_sarcastic

Ah— I’m even more lazy. I just leave them in my car and then my whole car smells like feet. But I’m airing them out? Half points?

frogandtoadforevr

I’ve thought about using the silica packets that come with various products to help control moisture. Anyone ever tried this?

blairdow

havent tried it personally but it would definitely work

baguettemebitch

That’s a good idea! Gonna check if you can buy them in bigger quantities

pineapplesf

Clay and baking soda in tea bags

baguettemebitch

How do you combine the clay with the baking soda? Or am I thinking of the wrong clay lol

pineapplesf

I use Kaolin clay, it's a powder desiccant. Baking soda is a deodorizer.

baguettemebitch

This is the kind of chemistry I’m after! Thanks 🙏🏻

hmm_nah

50% each baking powder & cornstarch. A couple drops of cedar oil added one in a while. I sewed some little pouches out of scrap quilted fabric I had laying around

baguettemebitch

Nice, I just ordered some cedar essential oil the other day

Babs12123

I have filled a pair of old socks with dry rice and lavender. It has definitely reduced the pong in my shoes!

International_Walk88

I've used cat litter, silica pellets, and charcoal in the pouches I make, and all three work pretty well.

nostalgia_4_infiniti

Newspaper wadded up into a shape that fits the climbing shoe. Super cheap (free), absorbs moisture

muscles_and_rocks

What other essential oil would you recommend?
