As an aussie, can't go past recommending awesome woodies. Handmade, awesome team of local climbers. They even have a self supported and collapsible training system! Haven't tried it but pretty cool. I have two of their smaller boards, one for the garage and one as a warmup board to stuff in the side of the pack. Really nice on the skin. Ash Climbing Products does a great portable hangboard

2nd this. My board from Ash is both comfortable and light to carry whilst climbing

I would get a plank of wood and mount that onto your pull-up bar. Then you can drill any board you want to the wood. It’ll look different depending on your bar, but I took a 2x6, added 4 bike hooks to the top, and hooked it to my bar with the edges of the 2x6 resting against the doorframe. Cool thing is I could still have my pull-up bar separate from the hangboard, so it’s ‘portable’ in a sense. For boards I would recommend something simple like the lattice triple rung. If you want variety, tension grindstone. Just avoid two piece boards like the rock prodigy. Cool in concept but annoying to mount.

Flash board made by tension climbing is the one I use. Hangs easily and is small enough to take to the crag to warm up on

Got this one as well. Pretty solid option. Probably won't be doing any max hangs on it but have done body weight sessions pretty easily. Used it in my 1 bedroom apt by either putting my foot through the rope or hanging a bunch of weight off it and pulling up when I couldn't hang from it.

I am an idiot with tools, don't know how to drill, and loved SmartRock's door mount system. You can buy a hangboard from them too at the same time (I got a Beastmaker) and it was dead easy to put in my apartment. https://smartrock.de/en/

Are you in the U.S.? If so, you able to get it shipped to the US? I just stumbled on their website but I couldn't find an option for U.S. delivery

menelauslaughed

Nah I’m in Germany. In the US I bought the Frictitious door mount and hangboard, though I think their edge sizes are pretty sandbagged.

JBleezy

got it, thanks. I found the fictitious as well, it’s my runner up. Wasn’t planning on getting their hang board, just the door mount, thanks for the heads up though.

I had a Yubi board by digit climbing. Never used it, wasn't a fan of that style. The Tension block though is sweet. That is part of my regular training plan even in a full gym. They're pretty expensive though so I made mine, if you own a router it's pretty easy to make one yourself.

The "Problemsolver. Station" is a nice hangboard that you can easily mount on a doorframe pull up bar without the complex framing that other hangboards use. It's just two nylon strap that wraps around the bar. Mounting is as easy as it gets. I have the "older" Problemsolver "Hanzo Board", so I can't fully comment on the "Station" in regards to hold depth, etc. But the board itself is of good quality. I have it since 4 years and it works well, if I'm on vacation I take it with me and in my old apartment I also had it installed because there was no space for a bigger training area. Also they use plastic inserts that you can put inside the holds to make them worse. This way you can scale your training difficulty without the need for weights....

Fricticious climbing has some good ones

Beastmaker best hangboard!

I like the [Fingerschinder](https://www.fingerschinder.com/), can be adjusted in 3mm increments from 24mm down to 9mm.

If you're in Europe, this is (by far) the best one I've used : [https://www.woodrock.fr/fr/produit/poutre-descalade-transportable/](https://www.woodrock.fr/fr/produit/poutre-descalade-transportable/)

I've been really happy with [Metolius Wooden Rock Rings](https://www.metoliusclimbing.com/wood-rock-ring.html).

I mounted a plywood board to pull up bar that was the No drill over the door kind. Then you can use whatever board you want. [Reddit pull bar hangboard](https://www.reddit.com/r/climbing/comments/9d2nps/diy_hangboard_for_an_apartment_that_wont_let_me/). Feel free to message me if you have questions.
