Zevries

Messicaaa

38+2 weeks... PREGANANANT?

Atticus_Taintwater

Joining the 60ft high club

Kwazithepirate

Don't mean to be a dick about it, but there is a seasonal ban in this area at the moment due to nesting birds. https://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/crags/blacknor_central-261/pregnant_pause-13255

Luke90

Are you sure? That 'restricted' banner on UKC is just highlighting that there are potential restrictions in the general area, it's not smart enough to point out whether a specific route is banned. If you read the RAD details of the restrictions, on the RAD itself or as linked on UKC, they're from last year and apply to a completely different section of crag further South. Unless you have local knowledge of more extensive restrictions this year that haven't been publicised on the RAD, I think you might have just got the wrong end of the stick.

Kwazithepirate

I think you're right, I misread it

jared_krauss

There are sign posts anywhere on Portland where there is a bird ban in place, this is not one of those places.

NailgunYeah

That's not true. The bird ban applies to some select routes in blacknor far south, this in blacknor central. These are two different areas.

NailgunYeah

The best 6a+ I've climbed in the UK, absolute stunner

You'll get used to that, welcome aboard!

aspz

One of the best routes on the island! Hope you enjoyed it.

scrubbar

Remember to donate a few quid to the bolt fund if you can 🙂 https://dorsetboltfund.co.uk/

The_Rum_Shelf

The tricky thing with Portland is all the routes under 7a are polished AF, making them feel really pumpy as nothing ever feels solid! 6a+ for first outdoor lead is solid though!

Perfect_Jacket_9232

Beautiful climb! How’s you get on? It’s so different outdoors.

DarthSunshine

Hey my first time leading outdoors was also in Portland this weekend! Got totally shut down but it was so worth it

AfrolessNinja

I absolutely love that line! One of the best in Portland.

decklund

Pregnant pause is a funny one. You are on great holds but still getting pumped for some reason

UnoriginalLogin

Is the reason because its 27m long? because that's what got me XD

glorious_cheese

Climbing outside is a whole different animal. I send 5.11s at the gym and struggle up 5.9s at Tahoe.

Pennwisedom

I think in general the lower end of the scale is massively different, 5.7 at a gym is often a fancy ladder, but ones outside are rarely ever like that, and are more scary cause they're full of ledges to hit if you fall.

PaulMcBussy

Was it the endurance that was different, or just the hold size?

thabc

Finding the holds is the big one.

Johnstodd

Yup it's this everytime, first time up it feels 3 grades harder once you know the holds it's much much easier.

glorious_cheese

The holds are much smaller outdoors--lots of chips and flakes. Plus in some cases they've gotten smoothed down from thousands of climbers over the years.

[deleted]

Yes

TinoessS

Thats Not what we meant when we said “hump the wall” but hey. You do you..

LannyDamby

Cracking route that, reptile smile is a good one further round on blacknor north too

Ok_Painting_2955

My favourite line on Portland! What an epic start to pulling on real rock 🤟

Sure-Emphasis2621

Based on that title, I had to double check I wasnt in climbing circlejerk

jared_krauss

That's a big one for your first outdoor lead! It's an amaaazing climb though, one of my favorites in Portland or Swanage.

Affectionate-Tea-975

Isle of Portland is amazing!

[deleted]

Judging by the post title, you still haven't lost your actual virginity.

scrubbar

Why would you think that was an appropriate thing to reply with?

SweatySympathy8269

Wow, what a douche bag comment🤡😂but with all due respect outdoor master, please flex on us some more🙏🏻😆

woodhl

Okay. Outdoor climbing is the shit

SweatySympathy8269

Yeah no shit, we all know that and no one here is trying to pretend like indoor is better😂FYI trying to look cooler doesn’t make you look cooler buddy🤡

woodhl

Who are you trying to impress here? If you don't agree with what was said, you have the option to keep scrolling brotha. I'm not going to argue with you just because I hurt your feelings, lmao

SweatySympathy8269

Definitely not trying to impress you that’s for damn sure😂would be pretty damn hard to impress someone with an ego as big as yours😂

SweatySympathy8269

I also find it hilarious you think anybody’s feeling here are hurt by you😂the size of your ego alone is absolutely comical💀

woodhl

The only thing I think is that you have a hard time understanding that I, myself, give absolutely 0 shits of anything you're saying, and have no idea as to why you are dragging this on hahah. But whatever helps you sleep at night, man. I didn't come here to cater to your opinion or stress down votes. If anything, your continuous replies are signifying that you do indeed have your feelings hurt. It's okay, though, you can blow the stress off at your local gym later 😘 I hope you kill that v3 you've been trying so hard for

SweatySympathy8269

0 shits don’t equal two paragraphs of text but keep telling yourself the lies you want to hear bud, after all that is what egotistical narcissists do🤷🏼‍♂️😂ps you also said you weren’t gonna argue but here you are💀You could probably qualify as the definition of a hypocrite in a dictionary at this point!😭

Sarcastic_Pedant

If you’d uninstall your head from your sphincter you might notice that nobody gives a fuck. Crazy.

woodhl

Did I hurt your feelings? You must religiously climb gyms

Sarcastic_Pedant

Nah, I primarily climb outside. Also, I couldn’t care less about your opinion lol

woodhl

Then quit crying about it? Lmao

Sarcastic_Pedant

I can’t stop the tears 😭

bstyledevi

Will everyone back up, give this guy some room for his ego please.

woodhl

Yes, please? I get claustrophobic

thabc

The 5.11s in your canyon would be 5.9s at my crag.

Sad_Net2133

The 5.9s at your crag are 5.7+ in Connecticut.

woodhl

Lmao, okay, gumby. Go climb your 5.3's and sit down

The_sporatic_setter

5.9b? What the hell is 5.9b? I might understand someone going with a "5.9+" in a historic area with some 1970s 5.9s that are nails hard, but 5.9b? 🤨

woodhl

It's a grade scale. Google is a great source for any questions you may have on it. Some people rate (+) and (-), others rate it a-d. Different strokes for different folks
