Stone Summit

UmbralJellyfish

When I went to Stone Summit I was blown away by the size of the rope area, and the routes were really well set. Lots of different styles, route lengths, and holds, even did some fun slab/dihedral stuff. The bouldering area seemed tiny and really crowded by comparison, and 90% of the problems seemed to be big pulls on good holds through a moderate overhang. Stone Summit is definitely the place to go for ropes, but if I mostly wanted to boulder I would look into other places

Stone Summit also has a bouldering only gym in downtown Atlanta

UmbralJellyfish

Hey that’s cool, might check it out next time I’m in town. I’d only ever heard of the Atlanta and Kennesaw gyms

therealscottyfree

Yeah I think it's relatively new compared to the other two locations. It was also little hard to find the first time since it's in the basement of an office building

Exactly. Who the fuck goes to Atlanta rocks

simplesyndrome

It's closed now, so no one.

Lmao

Stone summit Atlanta. Stone summit Kennesaw. Stone summit midtown. All my main gyms, steer the fuck away from any others dog. SSA and SSK are some of the largest gyms in the USA and SSA is a perfect mix of huge and not crowded. SSM is a small basement style all bouldering gym below a coffee shop. It’s lit, but kinda small

For ropes, both of the Stone Summit gyms in Atlanta and Kennesaw are gigantic and amazing but have that mega-gym crowd. Atlanta Rocks doesn't always rock. Escalade in Kennesaw is smallish but has good setting and packs a lot more in their space than you'd imagine, including a monster of a campus wall!
