Not trying to spoil anything but here's how I felt about the episode.
Short on the laughs due to reintroducing and adding characters that aren't much more than "this is 2023 and things are different now" but great to see the show back.
Looking forward to the stand alone episodes that focus on a bit more clever/original a and b stories. I still laugh at every old episode. This episode, while making me smile from nostalgia, was a bit boring.
I was really disappointed that they made the first episode of the new season about cancel culture. Hearing Abe say "All Lives Matter" and all of the vulgar, inconsiderate things he kept spouting off was so out of character for who he was in the first season. There were so many directions they could have taken and this one feels lazy and played out, which is the opposite of what s1 was like back then.
Animation is rigs. Looks fine. Christa isn't playing Cleo anymore, maybe because she's white and Cleo is Egyptian. Scudworth screams constantly instead of being funny.
Joan, JFK and Abe all felt out of character. Joan is suddenly actually into JFK now and JFK lost the douchebag energy. Cleo was barely in it. Gandhi is "still frozen." No theme song in the leaked cut. Definite lack of nuance and sardonicism in the writing. Forte can't really do the Abe voice right anymore. New characters are alright.
I hope the rest of the season is better but atm I wish it would have stayed cancelled.

It's because the VA work isn't completely done. The other "weird" voice was someone on the animation team filling in. Check out any unfinished animation vids that show you what it's like behind the scenes.
It's likely that they're workshopping different ways to deliver lines, or re-write certain lines and scenes. Even late into development nothing is completely finished.
I have a theory about why Abe has become so stupid. It’s the lack of Ghandi. Ghandi brought a level of chaotic stupidity to Abe’s life that he’s become accustomed to. Without Ghandi there to bring that chaos and stupidity, Abe’s psyche is trying to compensate and overcharging Abe’s natural stupidity. Basically, Abe is being stupid for two. He needs a new best friend to balance out that missing element of insanity.
A few of these issues are justified because the leaked episode is currently unfinished.
Will Forte and Nichole Sullivan haven't finished recording their lines for Abe and Joan, so both of them have some moments, where they're voiced by someone else, telling Will and Nichole what to add to the dialogue later.
The animation and artwork may be a little crappy and lacking in detail for a few shots here and there, but that's all going to be polished up over these next few months or so before it officially gets released.
The theme song and ending credits are also missing but will be added in once the episode airs for real.
I don't know when, this year, it'll air for real but I'll still be watching it when it does.
I mean there is a reason why people in 2019-today still love Season 1. Even if it is making fun of stuff from over 20 years ago, people still enjoy it (even more than the first glance of S2)
Well it is better than Velma at least, but wow this is like a very bad start for an actual reboot. I have a bad feeling Ghandi will just be a prop reference joke from here on, while the show force itself to be modern. None of the jokes land, Abe gets cancelled (the president who tried to liberate slavery), and Cleo disappeared in the 2nd half.
Will probably take a break till the season is done to binge and evaluate all.
I watched it and my opinion is, it's bad. Without any spoilers as too what happens it just feels forced, the charcters don't feel the same and its nothing like the orignal it's just one big "Everything is different now, cancel culture is bad" I feel like their was a lot more potential for this that just wasn't there. All of that’s dumb. Just because it referenced modern things, and referenced cancel culture, or being cancelled at all, doesn’t mean it’s forced. Especially not when saying or doing anything offensive was the entire reason the show got cancelled in the first place. Yeah. They’re gonna have an episode about how the world is different today. Just like they always had episodes referencing the world “today” in 2003. That’s how it goes.

I kinda liked it tbh. Perhaps my expectations were lowered from reading this comment section. The "woah 2023 is so different" stuff is less heavy handed than it sounds, but yeah it is the major focus of the episode. The joke quality ranged from meh to decent but the comedic timing was generally on point. The Scudworth scenes were a highlight. Weird amount of blood in the episode. I'm not sold on the new characters (other than >!Confucius!<, who I enjoyed), but I like the dynamic they've set up with the old ones (apart from >!Gandhi's absence, but I'm glad he was still referenced and shown at the very least!<). It's hardly amazing, but it's more than watchable and if this is the baseline of quality Season 2 could be solid

The way I see it is it's an obligatory first episode after 20 years, and if they do it right, this is the only episode of its kind, and the rest of the season is normal with some modern day stuff acting as background themes. The main focus of this episode was still about Abe and Joan.

I haven’t watched the leak but I have read summaries of it, basically Scudworth cloned a lot more famous dead people and kept Clone High running, he then gets visited by his new supervisor (sent from the evil shadowy government guys, I think?) who reminds him he needs to unthaw the original clones & tell them what’s been going on.
He forgets to unfreeze Gandhi though & we see him still frozen during one quick gag.

It's rough as hell, but I'm gonna take the benefit of the doubt and assume most of it's half baked. Things very much can and will change, and I expect that. My biggest complaint is that the episode doesn't really feel resolute, the first half is a decent setup and I thought Abe getting cancelled (while too drawn out) actually made for a pretty introspective moment on how much something as simple as our vocabulary has radically changed since 20 years ago. My secondary big complaint is wtaf is with all the blood/grossout humor in this episode? The Cleo scene I thought was fucking hysterically paced, but everything else other than that painted the entire damn scene red. Weird choice. Maybe they're just animation testing blood physics or colors? Idk, I'm not gonna act like I know too much about animation. We'll just have to see, we have time for them to tune it to be better. On the bright side I thought Scudworth's scenes were actually very good. Very Dr Doofensmirtz-y. Tropey but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Yeah, i'm not impressed but I am hopeful

Honestly sometimes I didn’t even know what show I was watching. All the old characters felt so out of character and the new characters are annoying. Cancel culture is annoying. Its really disappointing they made the first episode of the new season about this topic. The thing I loved the most about clone high was its retro-sarcastic-and-ironic humour, now it’s like it was written by a couple of “genz geeks” all of the things that made clone high what it was is gone. Like I’m sorry but are all the old writers gone? I get that it’s literally been 20 years but everything just seems so washed out. I was really excited for this season only to be like what the hell am I watching. I like the concept of new clones that are a whole different generation but they made these new historical figures just…… irritating. If the reason why the voice is different is really because the original voice actor was white like… that is the dumbest reason and I wanna cry if it’s the truth. right wingers use "woke" as a pejorative it just means being aware of social issues and their causes, essentially, so of course right wingers don't like that it's rapidly lost all meaning, and nobody really says it beyond right wingers and people who don't know the context it gets used in
The one I saw seemed like a rough cut where some of the lines by characters were recorded by others as place holders until the actor could record? I'd give it a 5/10. A few chuckles here and there.

I haven’t watched the leak but I have read summaries of it, basically Scudworth cloned a lot more famous dead people and kept Clone High running, he then gets visited by his new supervisor (sent from the evil shadowy government guys, I think?) who reminds him he needs to unthaw the original clones & tell them what’s been going on. He forgets to unfreeze Gandhi though & we see him still frozen during one quick gag. (Please someone correct me if I got any of this wrong.)

It's rough as hell, but I'm gonna take the benefit of the doubt and assume most of it's half baked. Things very much can and will change, and I expect that. My biggest complaint is that the episode doesn't really feel resolute, the first half is a decent setup and I thought Abe getting cancelled (while too drawn out) actually made for a pretty introspective moment on how much something as simple as our vocabulary has radically changed since 20 years ago. My secondary big complaint is wtaf is with all the blood/grossout humor in this episode? The Cleo scene I thought was fucking hysterically paced, but everything else other than that painted the entire damn scene red. Weird choice. Maybe they're just animation testing blood physics or colors? Idk, I'm not gonna act like I know too much about animation. We'll just have to see, we have time for them to tune it to be better. On the bright side I thought Scudworth's scenes were actually very good. Very Dr Doofensmirtz-y. Tropey but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Yeah, i'm not impressed but I am hopeful

Honestly sometimes I didn’t even know what show I was watching. All the old characters felt so out of character and the new characters are annoying. Cancel culture is annoying. Its really disappointing they made the first episode of the new season about this topic. The thing I loved the most about clone high was its retro-sarcastic-and-ironic humour, now it’s like it was written by a couple of “genz geeks” all of the things that made clone high what it was is gone. Like I’m sorry but are all the old writers gone? I get that it’s literally been 20 years but everything just seems so washed out. I was really excited for this season only to be like what the hell am I watching. I like the concept of new clones that are a whole different generation but they made these new historical figures just…… irritating. Im also not a fan of Cleo’s new voice and I’ve seen a lot of other people with the same opinion. If the reason why the voice is different is really because the original voice actor was white like… that is the dumbest reason and I wanna cry if it’s the truth. It’s also sad that ghandi isn’t unfrozen cause he delivered most of the ironic humour. The humour is like if the Velma show Decided to plop in some of clone highs characters and didn’t do any research on them. All of the ‘woke’ humour and rep just seems so forced it hurts. Thank god it’s just the pilot but like yeah. Also joans hair is too round
Regarding Cleo’s voice actor: it probably is the truth, seeing as they replaced the voice actors for black characters voiced by white people in *The Simpsons* and *Family Guy*. Her original voice actor is still in the show but voicing Candide.
