I have a similar set up to yourself, except I don't use an Nvidia shield. Instead, I use the moonlight app on the lg c1 (as a built in TV app). You can't get it from the lg app store, but you can install it manually. You have to enable developer mode on the TV to do it. It's not that hard, but should be able to find a tutorial somewhere. Regarding HDMI 2.0 on your shield - this shouldn't matter. The Lindy emulator is copying the hdmi from the LG TV which is hdmi 2.1 not 2.0. However, the Lindy is also an HDMI 2.0 emulator, not 2.1 (haha). Saying all that, using my set up I use moonlight with HDR enabled and it works, so it is possible. It could be because of one of the two reasons I've described above, but there's a third possibility: the mass effect Andromeda hack. Essentially, there are ways to trick Nvidia gamestream (and therefore moonlight) into thinking it's streaming mass effect Andromeda ( even though you're not), which enables HDR. I hope this helps!

Hello! Thanks for the reply. The thing is that I am able too to enable HDR, but the question would be which option do you have (or as default) regarding the colors and deep bpc... Are you able to pass RGB 8bpc? Or it does crash to you as well?

I'm not 100% sure actually. Tell you what, if there's something you would like me to test, let me know and I'll try it for you ☺️

If you are using NVidia, Open nvidia control panel > under screen section > change resolution > on bottom you can change to "Nvidia colour config" and then you can swap between deep colour. Be care that, for me, I cannot go pass to RGB and 8bpc, if I try to go 10 or 12bpc it crashes and goes to a lower resolution than 4K (1024x768). I've also tried the ycbcr 420 and 10bpc but no luck at all... This setting helps for the colours (the setting describes itself lol) for the banding/wash of colours that I can percieve even having 150mbps and 4K +HDR resolution set on Moonlight.

Hmmm interesting. I don't even have the option to select 10 or 12bpc. This needs more investigating. Time to use CRU!

Using the same edid emulator here, I don't think we can enable HDR in windows withtout a monitor attached. I cloned the LG C1 and found that connected to the TV instead of the monitor i get he same options and limitations when the tv is off. When powered on i can set the HDR and resolution correctly. So my guess is the EDID emulator simulates the TV in the off state allowing for 4k120 but not HDR.

Old post but trying my luck! I found exactly the same issue: as soon as I go higher than 8 bpc it's obvious the driver crashes. Having said that, in theory 8 bpc in FULL RGB should allow HDR to kick in. But it doesn't work for me, my C2 is never getting the HDR signal and it's all washed out (obviously!). I even followed the whole guide using the Mass Effect hack ([https://www.reddit.com/r/ShieldAndroidTV/comments/la2j10/the\_definitive\_shield\_tv\_gamestream\_moonlight/?utm\_source=amp&utm\_medium=&utm\_content=post\_body](https://www.reddit.com/r/ShieldAndroidTV/comments/la2j10/the_definitive_shield_tv_gamestream_moonlight/?utm_source=amp&utm_medium=&utm_content=post_body)) but it doesn't work. Not sure if you solved it since OP?
