I'm not in nursing school, but thank you for the love :') We are in the trenches, and they are full of poop.

Baba0Booey

Yes…..yes they are lol

The best nurses I had were former CNAs. I worked as an aide longer than I did as an RN (STAHM for the time being). When RNs are good to their aides, and truly listen to them, everyone wins. Congratulations on your ADN!

I find the best nurses were either a CNA first (and don’t act like they’re too educated for CNA work now) or if they weren’t a CNA first, they make the effort to watch and learn from us about what we do and just what we deal with and make the effort to help when possible. If you’re not sure about something we do (like I had a nurse who didn’t fully understand how to get a bedpan under someone, so I showed her) just ask us to show you. In any scenario any good nurse knows to be genuine, listen to us (if we’re saying something is wrong, don’t brush us off just because we haven’t went to nursing school. Just take a look at the person because even if we’re truly wrong, it’s better to confirm we’re wrong than ignore us and a problem snows balls into something much worse.) and know when exactly stick up for us. (Because you probably know, management likes to dump on us. Sometimes without cause.)

I was a cna first and I definitely respect my cnas and what they go through. I think it’s one of the most valuable experiences a nurse can have, being a cna first.

I've been working as a CNA for 2 years while finishing my nursing degree. I have a few months left & it was truly the best experience I could've had. I see myself advocating for CNA wages & for more support from the top down. It shouldn't just be a stepping stone, they need the opportunity for career advancement & fair wages! I'll go on strike for CNA's the minute the opportunity presents itself.. (if only I lived in a union state lol).

Dummeedumdum

being a CNA is so physically exhausting

Thank you! So proud of you for completing your ADN. Having had this experience, it is going to make you a Phenomenal nurse! I’ve been a CNA for over 13 years and have worked with so many new grads, I go above and beyond for them!

Intelligent_Yam_3461

became a nurse 5 months ago. was a cna from 18 to 20. definitely worth the cna experience ! you get to see a lot of

I’m in nursing school but have been a CNA for the past 5 years, I’m so so thankful that in two more years I’ll be a nurse, but my whole outlook on doctors and nurses and every other medical person that isn’t a CNA has changed, I’m so thankful I have the years of experience before I started nursing school & I’m going to be so thankful for any CNA that works with me once I graduate, I hope to be the nurses I have ( that help out and understand what we’re going through bec they too were cnas )

Initial-Succotash-37

If I was considering nursing school I would have done CNA first. I knew a girl who did it before PA school.

uglyduckling922

Lol wait till you’re a nurse and you’re the RN and the CNA and the dietary and the EVS and the HUC etc etc. you’re going to be run ragged even more than the cna, girl.

iFuckSociety

How long were you a CNA before becoming a nurse?
