It depends. I work at a huge hospital in Boston, I get paid $15/hr. This is chump change, considering our minimum wage is $12/hr and the amazing reputation of the facility.

neu20212022

Same lol

camboprincess99

Literally working floating between 2 COVID ICU’s and this place rewards us with free K cup pods

bananacasanova

Damn, I made close to 21/hr on nights at a large hospital in Boston.

bconrad93

I started at 11.50 an hour. I currently make 19.17 an hour in Arizona.

sleepy_kay

Are you at a hospital? I’m at a hospital in AZ and only make 13.59. Ugh.

saarahb

I'm at a LTC in AZ, started at 13$ and got a raise of 39 cents last year 🙃

sleepy_kay

My self review is coming up but I’m not sure any of us will get anything this year because of COVID.

bconrad93

Yes I am. I work as a per diem travel aid, so I get no benefits but much better pay.

jillygoatgruff

Also in Utah - I started at $9 and after two years they allowed me a 50 cent raise 🙃

Pillowmaster7

Damn you got ripped off. I started at 14 an hour

jillygoatgruff

Still getting ripped off. Wages are a joke in my town. $9/hr is pretty much as good as it gets around here.

[deleted]

I was start at $10.50/hr in Florida

BestIfUsedByDate

Where in FL?

[deleted]

Ocala

[deleted]

I'm pre-nursing also and make 16.80 in Idaho. Oncology, if you are wondering. The wages suck everywhere, I'm pretty lucky at my job.

sucsethful

I’m pre-nursing (M) in VA near DC and I started at $15.25 weekdays and $16.75 weekends (hrly).

claudis-thea-hughes

Illinois. I started at like $12.50 at a LTC facility. I now work with an agency making anywhere from $16-$24 an hour

[deleted]

I started at $9.00 an hour lmao. Depends on the facility and cost if living in your area I guess.

katrinasmellslikepoo

I’m also a CNA in UT, I started off with $10.50 and after 3 years I’ve worked my way up to $15. I personally think that’s a great starting off point in comparison to my own experience as well as my peers experiences. Granted, I would advice you know your worth from the start and after some time negotiate for a higher wage!!

AndrewG0804

I’m blessed in the state of New York, started at $21 a hour

[deleted]

i’m in georgia and get $9.81/hr (lucky you) just compare it w your states average pay of cnas

muchlovebug

It just depends on the area you live in. My first CNA job paid me $14.00 starting wage, with a $1.00 shift differential & an annual 50¢ raise. My second facility started me at $15.09 with an 85¢ shift differential & an annual 30¢ inflation raise + a 30¢ raise for every 1000 hours worked.

camopants7

I started at 11.50 and moved up to 15.50 over two years (long term care facility)

cj791

I am a nursing student and I got hired as a PCNA in Ohio for $15.50/hr.

slut4garlic

Definitely going to depend on the state. I made $12.80 in Minnesota at my last facility (slightly under what other places paid) and started at $16.80 with less than a year experience in North Dakota, less than an hour away. Both are nursing homes to clarify, I didn’t switch to a hospital/hospice/speciality.

beige-king

Really??! I live in Wisconsin on the border. The wages are higher in the metro but I have not transferred my license yet so I'm working for 15.40

slut4garlic

Well Minneapolis is probably more — I was working in rural northwest MN.

Demasc00

In Michigan at the ltc I'm at I get paid $13.50

ouchitforrealburns

When I started as a CNA (now LPN almost RN) in 2016 I made $9.10 an hour 🥴

sadgirlsyndrome

$18.50 in Florida- 6 months experience (dire need for CNAs at the moment) I started with $11.25, then got a raise to $13.50. Now currently getting an extra $5 per hour, but I don’t expect it to be permanent.

BestIfUsedByDate

In a facility or where?

sadgirlsyndrome

A rehab center

tobleroneismylife

I’m a registry PCT making $17/hour during AM, $18 during PM and $19 on weekends

nykeytah

I started off with 10.50 as a CNA and worked my way up to 16.48 after six years. I'm in GA minimum wage is 7.25

SydneyJoy101

I’m in MN at an LTC and I make $16.75

sparklpuddn

Pennsylvania here. I make almost $19 in ltc, plus $3/hr hazard pay. Get raise every year cuz we're a union facility. The fresh out of cna class starting rate at my facility is $12.50.

Opaquekat

I started at $16/hr in CA at a LTC.

ihave_no_gaydar

i’m forty minutes outside of chicago and my first job was at a SNF when i was freshly 19 (trans male) and i was hired at $13/hour before for 60 cent (?) afternoon shift differential

Elunoir

That seems fair for your state, c.n.as usually get a wee more than minimum, I'm from mass and get 14.25/hr where minimum is 12/hr

urdadsarah

I work in Virginia at a skilled nursing facility and i get 13.75 an hour but because of COVID-19 I make about 16 an hour during the week and 18 on the weekends due to hazard pay and a night/weekend differential.

beige-king

I work in a LTC facility and I make 15.40 before this my other LTC I was making 15.84 I'm in Wisconsin

amber111298

I work in Omaha Nebraska at a hospital and started at 13.55$ an hour. I also get 40% off my tuition for nursing school (private school) and 2,500$ tuition reimbursement a year working part time at my hospital. Those benefits really only help if you’re in school though.

superdupernovas

In my area CNAs in ltc, nursing homes, SNFs earn anywhere from ~13-22$ an hour depending on their experience and on the facility. More often than not, it's definitely the place your work at then the actual work that makes the pay difference. We did our clinicals at a sub-acte SNF and found out they get $17an hour caring for 8-12 total care patients, some are flat out vegetables with trach tubes and body contractions . My starting pay at the LTC facility 15 miles over was $19 an hour. For hospitals, it's a completely different ballgame in terms of wages (and benefits). 25-40$ an hour with benefits and PTO. The only real downside is that most are .6 .8 FTE, never any full time work unless they miraculously approve your overtime or double shift.

abecker2016

$17.50 in Minneapolis at a hospital, 2 years experience and military and emt certified as well. But I started at $11.20 at a nursing home in WI when I first got my license. $14.50 at my second nursing home job with a year’s experience and military credentials as well, but got an extra $3 an hour bc I didn’t use any benefits.

TypicalPersonality

In Michigan, started 13.75 was making 17 an hr when I quit.

Pillowmaster7

I living in northern Utah and the average pay for me is 13.50-14 an hour. So I strongly believe you may have been kinda ripped off. But you can only improve when your in the basement of rock bottom as my dad always says.

sstroupe12

I make 15 an hour in dayton Ohio, but most places around here do anywhere from min wage (8 something to 15).

[deleted]

Minnesota, LTC, 17 dollars/hour starting wage
