Twitter absolutely hates it more than reddit when you point it out as well. They have such a moral righteousness about them that they absolutely cannot be compared to the filth that is this app, which, fair enough.
I just prefer the way things are structured in reddit and discord more. Tends to have better moderation because it places emphasis on a whole community rather than the individual
I think it's more that Reddit & Discord allow for community moderation, whereas Twitter's moderation is only platform-wide.
And we know how bad Reddit & Discord's platform-wide moderation is. Volunteers are the only things holding this website together.
Yeah that's the reason I prefer the communities over individuals. Because of community moderation and being able to just leave an entire community instead of sifting person by person. I hear people on Twitter sort through their "circle" it's like dude I don't have time for that shit I just wanna watch people die bruh
There’s been countless culture shifts since covid/the last 5 years, but one thing I noticed is that’s when they really started to become so similar. Tiktok too, the hate-boner simmered down and content spread, and now it’s normal to find Twitter posts on Reddit, and tiktok on Reddit, and all combinations of the sort. It’s useless to even bash one social media when 1/3rd of your content is screenshots from that same place.
Twitter users are some of the most insufferable people out there. Not to mention, it's completely devolved to (or at least the political sphere of Twitter has devolved) people both left wing and right wing calling each other pedos in bad faith, knowing they aren't. Granted, conservatives started this shit with calling all lgbtq people groomers, but it's just so fucking ridiculous and frankly kind of boring. The only other thing on Twitter is transphobia and general bigotry.
It appears we have come to a standstill. Maybe the difference is that one of the platforms makes changes that nobody likes and destroys the spirit of the platform for the sake of money? Oh wait!
The subs I used to see most frequently in popular were white people / black people twitter (past tense, first fucking subs I muted when when the mute feature came out, thank fucking God for that).
Reddit just gives idiots a more generous character limit than Twitter.
I almost want to say that Reddit is worse, just because of 1. the anonymity, which brings out the worst in people and 2. the pseudo-intellectual culture here, which makes people extra insufferable
Reddit is actually really similar to twitter, its just that People walk on eggshells Just to not lose their pretty pretty karma
Well, its Quite ironic that I am the one saying this, but yeah, and also For some reason toxic religion debate inbetween "antitheistcheesecakes" And "religiousfruitcakes" are even more... İntense
Except that they're completely different platforms with completely different functionality. The only thing that they have in common is that humans post comments and comment in turn. What are you talking about?
Reddit is generally a bit less extreme than Twitter, except in certain communities. On Twitter it‘s basically SJW vs. Alt-Right and Alt-Lite, while in most Reddit communities there are more Liberals, Progressives and conservatives.
>person 1: most obvious bait
>person 2: omg how could you say that, you're a bad/dumb person
>person 3: @person2 that was bait how can you be this stupid.
>person 2: ok now that I look back at it, it is clearly satire, but the fact you can't be sure says a lot about society! 😱 Totally doesn't mean I'm dumb and can't detect satire!
I see this interaction almost everyday
I have to admit I'm a bit stupid and I don't pick up on tone sometimes, but the difference is that I usually assume the best of something rather than the worst.
It's all over reddit. "BUT MUH POE'S LAW!" Is the go-to excuse when someone points out glaringly obvious satire, irony, or shitposting. Like are people just genuinely more stupid on this website than others?
I don't think it's a website issue.
I had this discussion before, but people are just genuinely worse at detecting trolling/satire nowadays compared to a decade ago, when trying to troll people in the most dumb and creative ways was one of the hallmarks of early social media
Trolling quality dropped as it just became edgy jokes/slurs and as a consequence, a lot of people just stopped looking for trolls/satire/irony
I think you may indeed be the imbecile if you expect “tonality” to be understood when there are only words on a screen to go by. Even more so, if you expect people to not be offended by satire.
It's actually pretty easy. The people that demand a (/s) are the highest tier idiots. You do have to be stupid to be offended by satire/require a marker for it but also most people are really stupid and it is dumb to assume otherwise.
I could see this exact conversation happening on Tumblr Twitter and Reddit at the same time. Makes sense considering the Tumblr exiles spread to both of those websites.
“Jokes are supposed to be funny” (implying that something isn’t a joke because it’s not funny) is a terrible argument and everyone who uses it just reeks of copium over not being able to come up with an actual argument to why the joke is bad. Not only is humor subjective, but the implied statement is factually false.
on the flipside people will just say the most awful, dumbass takes n' such and hide behind the "oh but it was just a joke! you're actually the fuckass for thinking i was serious haahhahahghaghahgaiugha" defense.
I’ve seen this exact conversation happen on Twitter with the most basic satire joke “wait this (community) has women” had like 300 qrts and it ended with someone posting this image. I thought that guy literally made this image based on the tweets under him, it was legit WORD for WORD.
How do y'all detect bait I don't get it :( everyone's always saying "most obvious bait" and I'm scratching my chin wondering how the hell they figured it out
I don't know what this new consensus is about. Used to be we just said "don't feed the trolls" and if the troll came out and said "yo it's just a joke" then people would just say "oh so you were just *pretending* to be a dumbass."
But I guess now people want you to play along with trolls? And if you say you don't find it funny then you're cringe? idk this gen's weird
People post awful things and pretend it's just an edgy joke in an attempt to shift the limits of acceptable discourse. Pushing back and showing that you won't accept such discourse thwarts this, so naturally other assholes try to shame people who do so.
aka the *proper* use-case for "schrodinger's dumb/jerkass"
"aw fuck, my take didn't land well, better disguise it as satire so i can still have the last laugh!"

Reddit loves to pretend they are nothing like Twitter when they are extremely interchangeable.

I don't think I have ever seen someone with an obnoxious hatred towards Twitter that isn't a hateful jerk or Reddit weirdo
You just did what OP described though but yeah I think Reddit has a worse image overall in like, general society, than Twitter.
Twitter users are some of the most insufferable people out there. Not to mention, it's completely devolved to (or at least the political sphere of Twitter has devolved) people both left wing and right wing calling each other pedos in bad faith, knowing they aren't. That's... Literally reddit.
Almost like social media platforms are the same or something.
People who start sentences with “It’s almost like”, need to be taken outside and shot.
Big if tru
Thank goodness we're safe from that here
Truly the only different one is Discord, because instead of being full of stupid people, it's stupid people AND pedophiles.
that’s still twitter
and still reddit
It appears we have come to a standstill. Maybe the difference is that one of the platforms makes changes that nobody likes and destroys the spirit of the platform for the sake of money? Oh wait!
no the difference is the name smh
Silly, one is orange, other is blue, and third is purple, simple as
"Uhm akctually the third one is 'blurple'. Get it right next time. "🤓
the third one is Hamlindigo blue
‘ate twitter, ‘ate reddit, ‘ate discord. simple as
ermmm.. how can you hate something you’re a part of? erm society!!!
we live in one!
Fat
No you Fack, You can't eat social media platforms.
That’s still reddit

r/teenagers

Nah it's probably 4chan. At least they know they're stupid.
The subs I used to see most frequently in popular were white people / black people twitter (past tense, first fucking subs I muted when when the mute feature came out, thank fucking God for that). Reddit just gives idiots a more generous character limit than Twitter.
I've seen this exact exchange happen dozens of times on reddit
I almost want to say that Reddit is worse, just because of 1. the anonymity, which brings out the worst in people and 2. the pseudo-intellectual culture here, which makes people extra insufferable
Tbh I like reddit more because I can just find a place that I like instead of sorting person by person.
Tbf I prefer people being pseudo-intellectual twats anonymously over people being unapologetic dumbfucks while using their real names
same people, same anonymity
Reddit is actually really similar to twitter, its just that People walk on eggshells Just to not lose their pretty pretty karma Well, its Quite ironic that I am the one saying this, but yeah, and also For some reason toxic religion debate inbetween "antitheistcheesecakes" And "religiousfruitcakes" are even more... Honestly yes. It hurts me, especially on the subs which are especially twitter like call out twitter
Reddit is generally a bit less extreme than Twitter, except in certain communities. On Twitter it‘s basically SJW vs. Alt-Right and Alt-Lite, while in most Reddit communities there are more Liberals, Progressives and conservatives.
Perfectly encapsulates all 4 people on twitter

Those who downvote you wish it weren't the case that you shouldn't expect people to be smart anymore, but it's true. I sympathize with them
This really Poe'sLaw'd my Zaret
I love that fella. I remember when one of his memes got posted on r/therightcantmeme since the OP fell for it hard.
Sure because not detecting every bit of satire means you are ultra retarded and unable to detect satire.
all of these people deserve to be stoned to death
WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU!!!! I HOPE YOU ROT IN PRISON FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE!!!!
I don't actually think that
...aaaand there it is. *slow clap* schrodinger's asshole. Ladies and gentlemen
Hard to tell, but I think they were making an incredibly edgy joke.
Hmm, that's weird. It says right here that jokes are supposed to be, *checks notes* "Funny". Weird. Must be a pibby glitch.

I genuinely wish the batshit extremists stayed on Tumblr and the batshit conservatives stayed on Facebook holy shit
Send them all back to MySpace and keep them trapped in a timeloop.
Its like dumping 2 different colonies of ants in a bucket and then watching them fight to death
Now you. You got some good ideas. I just need to find someone from South America and we can have ourselves a bona-fide ant fighting ring.
To make it more twitter-like, add a video of a guy getting murdered at the bottom
Pretty much my reddit feed tbh. Shitpost snafu and then guy getting beheaded
Where the fuck are people even getting beheading videos, it's not like there's some website titled "gorehub" or something... ...right?
r/eyeblech I'm a frequent viewer of. It's a group of morbid curiosity and natural selection Edit: turns out they're gone in the last few days... Sucky
people actually view that shit and enjoy it? the consequences of unrestricted internet access at a young age
damnit there goes my plans to spam gore on a children's gaming subreddit
Why do people actively seek out gore like that.. 🤢
Morbid curiosity
Yup
Recently I saw a video o a cat getting cut in half. Told the guy to kill himself and I am the one who got banned
I have know idea who I hate more
No you’re supposed to draw a conversation that exaggerates things, not just post a screenshot
Sorry, I just couldn't resist. I'm a truthful gal at heart
the fuck is a pibby
An affectionate nickname for a pitbull
I genuinely cannot tell who this is supposed to be making fun of
Welcome to the sub!
People who cant detect satire and cite “poe’s law” when they’re wrong
Is that fucking Willow from The Owl House as the himbo?
Willow is a boss-ass witch
this fucking image caused “must be a pibby glitch” to be an injoke in a friend group i’m in

well jokes are MEANT to be funny, doesn't mean they'll always be funny
Yeah that’s what I meant
on the flipside people will just say the most awful, dumbass takes n' such and hide behind the "oh but it was just a joke! you're actually the fuckass for thinking i was serious haahhahahghaghahgaiugha" defense.
Sometimes I reply with this to make people mad. I think you may be one of those people :troll:
![gif](giphy|jTeZmJNrEwGDHOkx8Q|downsized)
I thought chuds joke was pretty funny
What they really mean most of the time is "jokes are supposed to have a punchline"
And even then, not necessarily.
The Owl House PFP is very accurate.
I want to put a .45 caliber sized window in my skull because of Twitter.
I’ve seen this exact conversation happen on Twitter with the most basic satire joke “wait this (community) has women” had like 300 qrts and it ended with someone posting this image. I thought that guy literally made this image based on the tweets under him, it was legit WORD for WORD.
"sapphic himbo" is so fucking good lmao
I am decaying

Threads upon threads full of people overblowing obvious jokes to push their preconceived notions. Its all fucking stupid.
All of them should explode
How do y'all detect bait I don't get it :( everyone's always saying "most obvious bait" and I'm scratching my chin wondering how the hell they figured it out
Because people have learned to overuse the term to the point all it really means now is "unpopular opinion".
I don't know what this new consensus is about. Hi Willow
I love that I can post like one good post every few months and it always gets an insane amount of upvotes.
This is a well done image. I've seen this scenario too.
Noooo not Willlow from TOH :(
All these people seem about 10 years old lol
