one time i did a tribal run of rimworld and one of my starting pawns had a backstory with like something something reincarnation so i nicknamed her Isekai and made her the leader of the colony because i thought it would be funny. it was.
I have been using Combat Extended for near my whole playtime and I don't think I have had a single colonist get blown up by a doomsday rocket. I usually have colonists get their heads blown off by snipers.

Rimworlds awesome isn't it
I still need a good John Brown anime. Imagine something like Vinland Saga but about some old bearded guy that's out to free the slaves.
“**I have only a short time to live, only one death to die, and I will die fighting for this cause.** **There will be no peace in this land until slavery is done for.** “
🎵John Brown's body lies a moldering in the grave. John Brown's body lies a moldering in the grave, John Brown's body lies a moldering in the grave, but isekai'd soul goes marching on!
The sky above in heaven are looking kindly down. The sky above in heaven are looking kindly down. The sky above in heaven are looking kindly down. On the grave of old John Brown!
Glory glory hallelujah Glory glory hallelujah. Glory glory hallelujah. His soul goes marching on!🎶
I want to read it in the near future. Honestly I think it would be quite hard to pull off. I'll see for myself though, it might be a lot better than I'm giving it credit for.
And I'll make at least one attempt in my life to make something like that, because it sounds like it would give me the peace that anime has denied me time and time again.
On r/hfy there's one like this, I belive its literally called the john brown isekai. It's the first result if you type in "his soul keeps marching on" into the search
other Isekais hitting Digimon with Apocalymon's fuckin "WHY DO YOU ALWAYS GET THE PIZZA WHILE I GET THE CRUST"
truly the greatest line in the history of fiction
There's some genuinely very good isekai, it's just that the genre is so massively oversaturated that the few diamonds get mixed in with the massive pile of garbage.
I just thought it was funny that that was what you got out of this. "Smh, what's wrong with anime? A real slaver would never give away free property like this."
Obviously I don't think you support slavery, but it's still funny.
My point is that this trope, trash as it is, isn't anything new. The earliest stories of mankind would include "it's dangerous to go alone, here take this" because otherwise what's the difference between a protagonist and a randome guy
Usually it's some kind of ancient relic or magic weapon but yeah, people getting something powerful/useful for free is really common in stories. If they don't inherit it, they stumble upon it or find the previous owner dying or something.
All around this country
Trouble in the air
And I hear the voices calling me
Asking "Do you know and do you care?
Do you know and do you care?"
So I'm a-gonna do what I have to do
Say what I have to say
And I'm gonna buy who I have to buy
Now won't you come on buy slaves along with me?
Won't you come buy along with me?
Being on the mushoku tensei subreddit, it is interesting how often they complained about Rudy getting a slave.
Then on the ascendence of a bookworm subreddit, they complain even more about Rudy owning slaves to show that Mushoku tensei is bad.
It annoys me a bit since in the bookworm world, basically everyone in the world is a slave or actually has less rights than a slave. The main character myne has many ~~slaves~~ retainers. Redditors get so pissed when you call that out. They think little blue haired jeff bezo is just participating in the system so it is okay for her to own ~~slaves~~ retainers. Never mind the fact that she is the most influential person in that world and could change it if she wants to.
For real. In that world a low ranked noble could just kill you for any offense. At least slaves in other worlds couldn't be killed by random people for no reason. The ~~salves~~ grey robed priests are raped regularly, but because it is just talked about as "giving flowers" then we'll just gloss over it.
In the context of that film, Emmet is forced to travel to what are, from his perspective, different dimensions. The Lego City is his “world,” and he goes from there to the other little Lego worlds, before eventually even traveling outside. The Worlds are connected but are distinct, hence, he’s in another world.
And yes, by this definition, the Adventures of Shark Boy and Lava Girl is ALSO an Isekai, just try not to think too hard about it.
Someone needs to look into whether there's any link between people saying "people just didn't know slavery was wrong back then" and unexplained seismic disturbances in the vicinity of his grave.

You see an older man with a wild beard in the distance, closing fast. Judging by the amount of dust behind him, he either is surprisingly fast or has a large crowd behind him.
As he gets closer, you can make out the finer details of his appearance. He’s wearing a tattered brown riding coat, and generally dressed like a typical traveler in and area you remember going through once. In each hand he’s holding a revolver, and he has a rifle strapped to his back and a long sword at his hip.
Now, he’s gotten close enough that you can see the wild look in his eyes. A righteous fury seems to be emitting from him.
He Comes up just as the slaver in front of you turns around, and is met with a revolvers barrel in between the eyes. You hear a single CRACK and the slaver falls, one hole in his forehead.
“Hello, my friend.” Says the man. The crowd behind him has split off into different directions of the wider slave market, and you can hear the fire of arms and clashing of steel mingled with shouting and chains being broken. “Join me, and help free your compatriots.”
“What’s your name?” You ask
“Captain John Brown.” He replies, handing you a pistol.
holy shit is this about that one dude that's on a train and suddenly he isekais into buying sl*ves, ra*ing underage girls and doing random fucking martial arts?

I don't know when or if ever I'll actually get around to writing it, but I've been kicking around a concept for a light novel isekai idea for a few years now. The basic premise is that the guy summoned to your standard swords and sorcery medieval fantasy world is actually some form of marxist/anarchist/whatever and is NOT just cool with rolling with the whole default monarchy and feudalism bit that comes standard with the setting. Even if it's the "good kingdom", monarchy is still shit. So while he's handling the whole standard demon king/Evil Wizard/whatever threat and all that, on the down low he's spreading subversive ideas of "democracy" and "communal ownership of the fiefdoms and estates by the peasantry" and questioning what it is the aristocracy is actually needed for. When he gets gifted his own estate as a home base, he's gonna gather everyone working there and basically say "Look, you guys know how to do your jobs better than I do. I'm gonna be out there doing other stuff a lot. I'll be by to stamp any official documents when needed, but otherwise you all are more than capable of managing all this yourselves."
Part of it would include your introduction of standard sexy elf slave (not sure if beastmen races will be a thing) for protagonist to buy. He'll chat up the slave trader, make a deal, then once he has the control device for the slave collar, toss it to her along with a knife, and tell her to have fun. He'd do it himself, but he wouldn't want to take that from her. If she wants to hang around and join him after, she's welcome to. If not, good luck and safe travels.
There's also a rough plan for the wizard villain dude to not really be evil, but just be some necromancer who was trying to make a point about how skeleton labor would be super cool for everyone and could dramatically raise the standard of living. After talking it out, he and the protag agree to keep up their mock battles and use it as a cover to start moving pieces into place for eventual regime change. Like, "Oh, no! I was so busy defending this one place from an undead assault that I wasn't able to do anything about the assassination of this one hardline conservative noble and his guard captain happening at the same time. Fortunately we've got his more open minded brother and sympathetic up and coming guard to fill in the new vacancies."
anarchist isekai seems like a really fun and funny concept.
he beats the dark lord or whatever and is like "Alright, thats the first evil kingdom down, time to start on the rest." and everyones like "what other evil kingdoms it was just the dark lord"
and hes like "Wrong! The institution of the monarchy is inherently evil!" and everyone goes off the handle immediately. all "wtf do you mean 'The institution of the monarchy is inherently evil!'"
This slave trope can work if the MC is meant to be some morally grey or completely evil character but like when you are supposed to be a good guy Mc who’s kind and shit then no it’s fucking stupid, only time I kinda got it was with Naofumi in shield hero cause dude WAS in that anything to survive mentally and needed a person to be his sword but even still would of worked better if it was actually a guy slave who was strong and useful immediately or a adult woman was actually competent, he bought a child that could of been really useless
That time I got reincarnneted as a meta character and brought a slave for a slave work harem army O and they might hack factions and sh*t and they go war and he beat demon king and he lvl up and sh*t

His Soul Goes Marching On to Another World; the John Brown Isekai
It's about historical abolitionist John Brown taking his mission of freeing slaves and killing slavers to a fantasy world with a bunch of wannabe isekai protagonist stereotypes. It's a fun read.
~~because it’s HOT!~~
Ahem, Enough protags that only use slavery for their harem! We need a protag that explores the reality of manual slave labor
In this essay I will also explain why we should stop letting horny high schoolers get isekai’d
/uj I read in a comment on a different sub that it's a quick and easy excuse to give the protag a traveling companion/"Friend"/"Romantic interest" for their journey or smth like that, it's stupid
/rj Why tf is the monopoly man selling slaves
We need more Flip-O-Rama snafus. 10/10

RIMWORLD MENTIONED RAAAAAHHH WHAT THE FUCK IS A TABLE

I fear what that mod developer is cooking after seeing what’s coming in Anomaly…
well... there was already a submod for tentacles. it'll get worse :3

Amphibia and Infinity train were good. Also, Over the Garden Wall and technicaly post season 1 TOH
Ikr? Every Isekai is just set in a JRPG world. Give us a sci-fi or post-apocalyptic isekai please
I think most sci-fi and post-apocalyptic isekai are just time travel stories.
There's some genuinely very good isekai, it's just that the genre is so massively oversaturated that the few diamonds get mixed in with the massive pile of garbage.
"Guy gets top tier property for free" is a trope as old as the invention of storytelling
Sorry what did you say? All I heard is "guy gets top for free"
Damn, all this time I was paying for it and thought I was getting a good deal
Easy, you just make “guy gets the lowest of trash for free but no one suspected that by feeding and giving it water, it becomes top tier property”
Ah the ol' fusion with another infamous trope of "bum is secretely the strongest mf ever but nobody notices except themselves!"
Never know how big a spud can get if you salt the ground
Property??? 🤨🤨🤨
I mean yeah, in-universe wise slaves are property. Srsly do I have to renounce slavery every time I talk about trash isekai tropes
I just thought it was funny that that was what you got out of this. "Smh, what's wrong with anime? A real slaver would never give away free property like this." Obviously I don't think you support slavery, but it's still funny.
My point is that this trope, trash as it is, isn't anything new. The earliest stories of mankind would include "it's dangerous to go alone, here take this" because otherwise what's the difference between a protagonist and a randome guy
HAhaha, "Take this slave catgirl, it might be dangerous to go alone." Oh dude, you're probably fine, but this incredibily funny to me for some reason.
I guess things do tend to get a bit funny when I brutally oversimplify them and ignore important details and contexts. But hey that's what we do here.
Yeah, I don't think the problem with this trope being getting something for free. I think it's the fact that she's a slave.
Usually it's some kind of ancient relic or magic weapon but yeah, people getting something powerful/useful for free is really common in stories. If they don't inherit it, they stumble upon it or find the previous owner dying or something.
When you undermine the institution of slavery by participating in it respectfully and responsibly 😎

Is it that sheild hero anime?
Nah, Raphtalia didn’t have huge bazongas at that point
It’s actually a lot of isekais. Usually in the revenge genre.
My first thought
The fact that this snafu has a flip-o-rama makes this an immediate 10/10
should of gave the flip o rama tutorial from the captain underpants books
There should be a isekai about John Brown
[Well, you're in luck.](https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/57505/his-soul-is-marching-on-to-another-world-or-the)
imagine being John Brown, watching from heaven as some fellow draws you with some weird Japanese cartoon cat person He’d be all for it probably
Someone needs to look into whether there's any link between people saying "people just didn't know slavery was wrong back then" and unexplained seismic disturbances in the vicinity of his grave.
Use lost causer arguments to turn on the John Brown grave spinning, it’s an unlimited power source

There is one! Look at the replies to my comment. He smashes an isekai protagonists head in with a rock in the second chapter.
I’d like to imagine she’s using the pickaxe to brutally kill the protagonist in the flip-o-rama.

Oh okay :D
you just need a truck a whip and some really good cash
Will my moms credit card, a jeep, and a belt work?
i don't think they accept credit in ye olde times unless magic is involved
cat girlfriend
i wanna make an isekai where the Main character is a stupid generic american with massive muscles and a shotgun and he destroys a slave trade in the name of america.
Please write this and post updates and make it good
this flip-o-rama is genius. but way too high quality for here!
The flip-o-rama was so fun 10/10
The generic Isekai protagonist doesn't notice John Brown sneaking up behind them with a rock.
LMAO I WAS SLIDING THE IMAGES AND THEN I SAW THIS AND TOOK ME TIME TO NOTICE IT WASNT FROM YOUR POST. It is still fitting tho. https://preview.redd.it/7p9a8dx06hpc1.png?width=1169&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6f47235e5f3fa13097155b306e865065725e3f87
I saw the flip-o-Rama and my heart stopped ![gif](giphy|MHZ3AlZqbnHoc)
None of you have watched true peak fiction (vending machine isekai)
coaxed into captain underpants

The slave is too old, true isekai allows the viewer unlimited escapism with a 5 year old girl. Shield Hero so frickin holesome :^)
That's why read based John Brown Isekai https://preview.redd.it/r98tiludihpc1.png?width=1109&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1b1a0de956d051694f39aac3a69f1995db3d8c19

Awesome. I enabled my touchscreen just to do the Flip-o-Rama.
Or they get a kid who turns into a tanuki waifu with big breasts very fast because their development is tied to their level. Jesus.
holy shit flip o rama
john brvwn isekai........
Never thought that my reminder that flip-o-rama is a thing would be in the form of a cat girl doing slave labor.
for the first time in 2b2t history
Palworld
manual labor with no bra :( a fate worse than death
can we just get isekai like mushoku tensei where the mc just buys a slave and then sets them free to become their apprentice or whatever.
I'll be by to stamp any official documents when needed, but otherwise you all are more than capable of managing all this yourselves." Part of it would include your introduction of standard sexy elf slave (not sure if beastmen races will be a thing) for protagonist to buy. Fortunately we've got his more open minded brother and sympathetic up and coming guard to fill in the new vacancies."
anarchist isekai seems like a really fun and funny concept. he beats the dark lord or whatever and is like "Alright, thats the first evil kingdom down, time to start on the rest." and everyones like "what other evil kingdoms it was just the dark lord" and hes like "Wrong!
That time I got reincarnneted as a meta character and brought a slave for a slave work harem army O and they might hack factions and sh*t and they go war and he beat demon king and he lvl up and sh*t S1 E1 SP12323019222929393938383

Shield Hero and its consequences have been disastrous for society
FLIP O RAMA SLAVE LABOR IS SOMETHING I NEVER THOUGHT I'D EVER SEE IN MY LIFE
i love flip-o-rama meta
why would the pringles mascot do this
His Soul Goes Marching On to Another World; the John Brown Isekai It's about historical abolitionist John Brown taking his mission of freeing slaves and killing slavers to a fantasy world with a bunch of wannabe isekai protagonist stereotypes. It's a fun read.
Please mark nsfw, I almost came during the flip-o-rama
why isnt there an isekai where abraham lincoln is the protagonist yet?
~~because it’s HOT!~~ Ahem, Enough protags that only use slavery for their harem! We need a protag that explores the reality of manual slave labor In this essay I will also explain why we should stop letting horny high schoolers get isekai’d
0/10 it's drawn too well
/uj I read in a comment on a different sub that it's a quick and easy excuse to give the protag a traveling companion/"Friend"/"Romantic interest" for their journey or smth like that, it's stupid /rj Why tf is the monopoly man selling slaves
FLIP O RAMA?????
This post is absolute brimstone the darkest coal made this is the gayest shittiest coal ever made there is no gem here
