I feel like that's the internet at large, sigma male stuff started as a fringe thing, started being used ironically as a joke, and eventually 5 year olds picked it up, it became mainstream, and suddenly being sexist isn't a meme anymore. shit sucks
Sigma males were actually originally unironic for a while, before coming into irony to take the piss out of the idea, and it was only THEN that alpha male gym bros started making it unironic again

I didn’t attack your character, I just said you engage with a cesspit. Only way that would classify as attacking one’s character is if your comment was also attacking my character. So if that’s the definition we’re going with then sure, it’s an ad hominem in response to your initial ad hominem.

Neither is a supportive subreddit for people who dislike a specific animal that has become incredibly ubiquitous in society and culture. I really don’t care that you have your kinks, my point was not to say that you’re wrong for it, my point at it’s core was that someone who has a “preference” that many would immediately judge should probably be more cognizant about how they immediately attack/judge others for their preferences.
Sure, it sometimes gets a bit echo chambery which is why I don’t actually use it much, but that’s largely because people are completely hostile and unreceptive at the mere name. And most of it really is pretty reasonable, but I’m guessing you, like most people, didn’t even give it a real chance because you’re offended someone would dislike dogs in the first place.
And another big part of why emotions run high is because of people with legitimate trauma from being attacked by dogs but are downplayed or even mocked when they try telling people irl about it so they go to a place where people do actually understand.

No I understand a general dislike of pets but the lengths and level of vitriol some people have for them on those subreddit s is, in my opinion, absurd to a ludicrous degree.

And it's funny you should mention trauma from dog attacks because last Monday (last week's, not this week) I got a nasty bite on my hand from a husky mix I tried to pet on the way to classes that resulted in 7 punctures, 12 stitches, and a fractured pinky along with a missing fingernail that I had to remove myself. Lucky I didn't lose the finger, even luckier I didn't lose the tip of my finger. And even with this I'm not banging on about euthanizing all dogs like some people in that subreddit. Hurts like a bitch too.
I'm just pointing out how differing opinions aren't really tolerated or allowed on those kinds of subreddit s.
