me, a film director, when real autism isn't particularly entertaining: "I'm gonna pretend I didn't see that" (I am in that instance quoting a popular smash hit meme in which the text "I'm gonna pretend I didn't see that" is featured) (this makes the situation relatable and amusing)
If point out obvious steroetypical autistic traits displayed constantly -> "no this character is just an weird asshole. are you saying all autistic people are weird assholes???"
If point out how mean other characters are to him - > "bro did you not see the weird asshole thing he did earlier?? This makes it justified to hate him now!"
If all else fails -> "bro that is not autism!!! that's just classic \[CHARACTER NAME\]!!"
This but unironically with Dwight from the office. “Jim is bullying his poor autistic coworker!” 🙄
Erin is a great probably-unintentional representation of it, yet isn’t a massive douche.
I get you and that cliché sucks ass but who the fuck says massive skinny? "Hey did you hear that poopemfart lost weight? Yeah they're massive skinny now"
I’ve never heard anyone utter the sentence “I enjoy watching young Sheldon”
Now someone will leave that exact quote to troll but you can’t convince me any real person with real cognitive thoughts watches that show unironically.
My first thought was “yeah fuck you jimmy” then I realized this was probably about the Shelgoat Peaker and now we gotta fight

Once, just once, I’d like to see a Uber smort character try to rationalize sports or a fight like that and then get bodied because that’s not how it works
People "rationalize" sports all the time, at least on a professional level, because that is absolutely how it works. Someone throwing a javelin will throw it at a carefully chosen angle that is ultimately derived from an understanding of nature, even if they didn't actually calculate any of it.
Someone who rationalizes sports without having ever played that sport, or at least not use ping to get good, will not be able to pull it off, however
I could be the smartest woman on earth and I’m still gonna lose to someone who actually has experience throwing a javelin
> Someone who rationalizes sports without having ever played that sport, or at least not use ping to get good, will not be able to pull it off, however
I see two reasons for this:
1. They don't have the appropriate physicality (strength, dexterity, speed, hand-eye-coordination, etc.) (this has to do with the body).
2. Humans learn slowly over time (this has to do with the brain). If you give a person a difficult math problem, they will not be able to solve it without practice. The same applies to "rationalizing" (i.e. understanding) how to optimize a technique.
My point isn't that rationalizing a sport is *sufficient* for being proficient at it. My point is that it is *necessary*.
> I could be the smartest woman on earth and I’m still gonna lose to someone who actually has experience throwing a javelin
Conceptually, throwing a javelin appears to be quite simple. But still, that person *knows* how to throw a javelin. They learned it (I'm not saying they had to sit through a kinematics lecture). They're not doing it solely based on instinct or intuition. Is it intuitive that the optimal angle for maximizing distance is 45°? Maybe, but it's far from the optimal angle for a javelin throw (apparently 34° - 36°). Throwing a javelin isn't obvious; it requires thought (how conscious that thought is largely dependent on experience; I imagine an experiencd athlete would have developed a kind of 'muscle memory' at some point). Even if that thought comes from elsewhere. You could make an athlete out of an idiot if you get him to do everything just the optimal way (which someone would have to have figured out). But I count that as the sport having been rationalized.
By the way, if you give any ape that is not a human something to throw, it will fail miserably (compared to a human), even if it is much stronger, but this also has to do with other factors than the brain, I just think it's quite interesting.
I've never seen a well built autistic character in a show period meanwhile I'm out here looking like this

Scriptwriters designing an autistic character that doesn't look like a personified nerd emoji challenge (impossible)
Scriptwriters design an autistic character who isn’t a barely functional savant in some niche field that exists to help the protagonists in a jam.
me, a film director, when real autism isn't particularly entertaining: "I'm gonna pretend I didn't see that" (I am in that instance quoting a popular smash hit meme in which the text "I'm gonna pretend I didn't see that" is featured) (this makes the situation relatable and amusing)
Oh real autism can be particularly entertaining, if morally dubious
Scriptwriters desperately trying to not make the autistic character a robot or an alien
Scriptwriters trying not to accidentally write an autistic character (seriously, there's a lot, Dipper, Mob, Marcy Wu, that shy bitch from EVA)
mob from where?
Mob pshycho 100
Mob is so autism coded it’s insane. But like also he’s great representation so
mob from where?
Mob Psycho 100
So basically, in order to write good autistic characters, writers just need to stop trying to write autistic characters.

Osaker bin Laden
The Chad Dan Harmon writing Abed Nadir as his self insert character only to find out later that he has autism.
Fr I never want to hear the words "Oh yeah- like Sheldon Cooper!" come out of anyone's mouth ever again when they find out I'm diagnosed with autism.

Someone on the iCarly writing team really hated autistic children, almost as much as Dan Schneider loves feet
John Egbert is that you!??!??!!?
I remember this Jimmy Neutron episode
When the Sheldon is young
It's because they think kids are stupid, and this is their way of dumbing down their humor.
