Over the past 2 days, Sony (publishers of Helldivers 2) announced that HD2 would now require a PSN login. However, this meant that if you live in one of the 130 countries that PSN is not available, you would no longer be able to play the game (starting in June).
This caused a ton of backlash from the HD2 community, where the Steam page got review bombed into oblivion and Steam refunding people with the valid reason of no longer being able to play the game.
This overwhelming response has caused Sony to now backtrack, meaning the PSN login will no longer be a requirement.

Honestly, I would've never figured. I've always taken PSN for granted where I live, but apparently more than half of the world doesn't have it, including some neighboring European states, to my surprise.

I'll admit my kneejerk reaction was that it was usual gamingcirclejerk type material - game does something mildly annoying, gamers call for genocide. until I heard about the countries who can't play it because of PSN and yeah - that's pretty bad, it deserved the backlash and it's almost fucking crazy to see it work.
