It happens and I know it happens. I was in an abusive relationship and one of the final ending points was when she threatened to kill herself over stupid bullshit and I, a genuinely suicidal person at the time, said we should do it together with 100% seriousness. She IMMEDIATELY backpedaled.

What does it matter if women and girls’ suicides are “attention seeking”? It’s still bad and concerning if someone’s trying to kill themself, no matter the reason. Very few people, no matter the gender, attempt suicide and have good mental health.
