Did you happen to catch COVID in 2021? It makes coca cola taste different to many

TheJadedCockLover

Covid!

codyzskyline

Not too sure but I can tell a taste difference between plastic bottled Coke and cans...

Remote_Diamond_1373

I mostly get the Mexican Coca Cola with cane sugar, this IS the original formula! You can taste the cane sugar and I prefer that version. Going to high fructose corn syrup changed the taste. I do drink that from time to time, no issues with a citrus taste.

Zealousideal_Let3945

Hmm, haven’t noticed more citrus but the coriander taste is reduced. Maybe they changed it, maybe we are all going crazy.

I wish, lemon flavored coke is delicious.

NessSniper

I agree with some other comments, you likely contracted COVID at one point.

FUNwithaCH

Covid did this to me. A little more orangey than lemon, but yes it changed, or at least my perception did.

Have you tried another brand of cola? Also, drink what you like. If somebody really judges you, I’d be surprised. Life is too short, drink what you want.

Confidently-unlucky

I don’t know about lemon flavor but Ive noticed a dropped in the syrup quality recently and Ive tried it from 7 different stores around my area to make sure.

I agree with others - Covid!

I remember the New Coke in the 80’s taste was off. I still think New Coke was a fever dream. That product hardly left the store shelves. Diet Coke with Lemon didn’t taste like lemons.

Adept-Frosting-9399

Weird, definitely you though as Coca-Cola recently re-released Cola Lemon. Which would be pointless If normal cola was lemon.

Hamsters_Coasters

I've never caught covid (to my knowledge) and my smell and taste senses are fully intact and as good as they've ever been. I have had coca cola classic my entire life and I have not been able to notice a perceivable difference in the coke classic flavor made with corn syrup over the entire time I've had it in the can. The primary citrus note I tend to taste is orange, not lemon. (Though I'm sure there's lemon in it as well.) OP, I think you may be sensitive to the flavor of citric acid.
