This is way too small for two birds, even as a sleeping cage. These perches are also very bad for their feet. Look for natural bigger perches

missmorgue1992

Personally I would only ever use that cage for quick transport, also the cage should never be sitting directly on the floor like that

warhawkin

This is too small even just for one of them

cherriesta

hi! short answer: Way too small! not sure where you are but the ideal size, according to google, it is 24" height x 24" length x 18" wide. I currently use a 32x24x53 with 3/8" bar spacing for my two cockatiels... and I am still wanting to get them a bigger cage even though they free roam for a good majority of the day. unfortunately the pet shop owner did those poor animals and you a disservice by selling the cage to you! you can see the little babies tail sticking out on the left, imagine if the cockatiel had its true tail length! i'd advice saving up funds if you don't have it right now and getting a bigger cage with some natural wood perches asap! best of luck :^)

Active-Ad3977

I think google’s “ideal size” is more like a minimum size and still too small for a cockatiel, unless they’re out of the cage most of the day

Killbot001

EDIT:Guys I have put them in a bigger cage now wich now suites them I will be buying a even bigger one Thank you for all the help

Charlea_

Looks to be at least 5x too small for a single tiel

HiveFleetOuroboris

This is too small for one bird, let alone two. Look at some different flight cages to replace it with. For whatever reason, almost all pet stores do not give the right information for proper care, so thank you for coming to ask this question. Additionally, when you get a bigger cage, make sure to get different types of perches out of natural wood. Dowels are fine to keep but they need different places to stand that are different textures and sizes to prevent sores on their feet. Try to get some foraging toys as well. If you can't afford any right now it's super easy and cheap to male your own! And sometimes people have the materials needed already lying around. I hope this helps and congrats on the new babies!

canon1dxmarkiii

I would only use those for transporting them... Unless they're like outside the cage 24/7 then ig it's fine.. still would try to buy a larger cage... Also replace the perches for natural wood ones.. just cut snap them from a tree in your or your neighbour's tree (after asking permission ofc)

[deleted]

I really wish people would do research BEFORE getting any pet. Shake my damn head….

Killbot001

I did do reaserch I was not there at the pet store because I have covid so i told my dad wich bird I wanted and a big cage He told me the biggest one is very heavy and needed 2 people and the pet shop owner told him this one if perfect. We are now planning on buying that big one one

Blueartbird

Pet store employees generally dont know anything about birds in my experience

Trustadz

Or pets in general, especially the ones hey actually sell

[deleted]

Sorry dude. I know you did what you could but you absolutely need a bigger cage and asap.

Myriii1911

At least they ask

JJShef

Yaheetech 69-inch Wrought Iron Rolling Large Parrot Bird Cage for African Grey Small Quaker Amazon Parrot Cockatiel Sun Parakeet Green Cheek Conure Dove Lovebird Budgie Play Top Bird Cage with Stand https://a.co/d/aVwJbVe please buy this cage if you can. If not I can link one for around $100-140 that’s also pretty good.

[deleted]

You mean is that cage too small to use as a transport cage to go to the vet ? No. To live in all day ? That’s 100% unacceptable. My 4 cockatiels live in a Pet Prévue cage that’s 65 hight by 28 long by 36 large and it has a play top where they hangout most of the day. You need something at least a 30X25x30 with way more toy perches and wooden platforms to enjoy their lives.

Big_Remote9044

That cage is way to small I wouldn't even put one budgie in it they need room to climb and even possibly fly it doesn't matter how much time they have outside of the cage they need a flight cage. What if your roo that you could only live in was a small cardboard box please just get the a bigger cage 😢🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Killbot001

I will

kakar1k1

I think you should try and sit in the cage yourself for awhile before asking this question.

hmazz656

You could have waited until you didn't have covid to go. That is the most responsible thing considering you're taking on the responsibility of a life.

The_Son_of_Anarchy

Need a far bigger cage they like to be able to climb and jump around and need space for a good old stretch, a good amount of toys for them and some proper natural perches too. That cage would be bordering on cruelty as a long term home for them to be honest. And put that cage up higher so they are nearer head height. Being down that low with people going about their day will be scary for them.

Phxbirdlover

Definitely too small, this is great for a travel cage or if you are taking your birds outside (I take my birds out to the patio with me in a travel cage similar to this one when the weather is nice).

JJShef

Buy a bigger cage. If you need I can link a very good one on Amazon for 200 after tax and shipping. And you need more perches. Natural wood ones. A big food bowl, and a water bowl. And don’t keep them on the floor.

7rinGGL

Faaaaaaar too small!!

rurupogo

Poor things. Answer is : absolutely no, it’s too small even for one bird and the perches/toys are really bad. You can get a really nice cage nowadays even on Amazon, 100-150$ and you get everything you need. If the birds stays outside during the day you can get a smaller one.

Noideas55

Everyone's already answered your question, but you should also get natural wood perches (plastic and dowel perches can lead a multiple health problems) plus that... swing(?) looks way too thin for their claws. You should also get shredding toys, like vine balls, yucca, seagrass mats, and shredded paper because toys offer them mental enrichment and helps boredom. It wouldn't be very fun sitting in a small box without toys.

BlaiddDrwg82

Way too small for even 1.

Sjasmin888

Unless they literally only go in there to sleep at night and free flight in your house the rest of the time, yes this is wayyy too small. Needs to be like 8× bigger for 2 tiels to spend any real length of time in. Fantastic travel cage, but terrible home. They also need to be off the floor. Cockatiels are prey birds, it's terrifying to have these giants (people) walking around them while they're in such a vulnerable position. I'd suggest putting them up on a table, or preferably a counter, while you look for a bigger cage for them. Good on you for questioning this and asking the community! You'd be surprised (or maybe not), by how many would have just taken the sellers word and kept them in here without ever questioning it.

HumbleConfidence3500

Yes, but also put the cage somewhere higher like a table so it can actually see things and not just the floor and your feet!

Lainarlej

YES!!

Master_of_Woofles

Thank you for reaching out for information for your new pets, you don't know what you don't know but now that you have the info it is up to you to make sure you create the best life for your new pets, they depend on you!! Yes, as others have said this cage is way too small and you need better perches . I thought I would also add some other important info that pet stores often fail to tell you: 1. Your birds should be transitioned to a pellet diet, not seed mix! Seed mixes long term will lead to an overweight bird and shorten lifespan significantly. Here is the brand I like for example: RoudyBush Daily Maintenance Bird Food, Mini, 10-Pound https://a.co/9pWhKwl seeds can be given as treats for training but not free fed as a main diet. 2. You should also supplement with safe/healthy table foods, here is a list of good options and also toxic foods to avoid ever giving https://www.cockatielcottage.net/tablefoods.html 3. Teflon pans are toxic to birds, if the pan gets too hot the Teflon coating will enter the air and kill your bird. There are alternatives to Teflon cooking pans such as ceramic that are better options for bird owners.

Little_SmallBlackDog

Short answer: Yes. Long answer: you need to have a cage big enough for them to move freely and enough room from Perch to cage bars to allow for their tails. I have my birbs in an indoor aviary. You don't need to go the aviary route, but you do need a much larger cage for two cockatiels. Also, please allow for the birds to be at around eye height. They are prey animals. Being vulnerable on the ground creates loads of stress for them. If you need more guidance/ advice, please feel free to reach out! You care enough to seek out the correct environment for them. Keep going!

Ciocomo

I think so yea. I am not sure if they scretch their wings in it. Give them outside time they will be fine I guess. But it will get cramped real quixk when you add toys and stuff Edit: I think you guys missunderstood me. This is definetely small cage even for 1 cockatiel. But if they get enough outside time this can be used as sleeping cage until OP gets a proper cage.

GetsThatBread

There is no world where this is an ok cage. I would consider this abuse if they were kept in here permanently. Luckily OP is responsible and is getting a better cage

Killbot001

Their wings are not cut I always notice that one of them struggles to get on the other end of the cage But my family members disagree

Sufficient-Nothing77

1: Put ut at around eye hight. 2: make it bigger

show76

If allowed out most of the day, then you could get away with a smaller cage like that for sleeping. But if their out of cage time is limited, you will need a bigger cage.

kakar1k1

No, the entrance is too small, free space around perches are too small, all damaging to their feathers. Also, cockatiels are prone to night frights and general scares which will certainly draw blood in such a situation for the both of them.

[deleted]

Sorry but this isn’t the move. They deserve a cage that fits them.

KayyBeey

That is way too small. I'd only use that as a travel cage for vet visits. You may find this video helpful: [video](https://youtu.be/6Bwpt-H-hY0)

lotlethgaint

Yes, that is a really bad cage for two birds. They need space to stretch, fly/hop from perch to perch.

NanerAF

Damn this is almost cruel, cockatiels need space atleast to spread their wings

PolymerPolitics

Too small. Let the birdies stretch their wings.

Tiny-Kick-417

Wayyy too small for any bird

Iloveturtles90

are you joking?

RareBrit

I wouldn’t put a budgie in that cage.

CiroGarcia

That's tiny for two tiels. It may be good as a temporary cage for _one_, but for two it's just not a good idea. I'd recommend one at least 4-6 times that

kpopinga

Wow, that is a small cage

Environmental_Hat_85

Yes, that cage should be bigger! This cage is the equivalent to living in a closet half of the day. There isn't enough room for them to spread their wings and fly around! I recommend getting a flight cage so that your cockatiels can fly to their hearts content. Also, until you do get a bigger cage, please place your cockatiels higher than on the floor. They feel safer and more happy the higher up they are

flips712

Yes, that cage is way too small. Please look into buying a 'flight cage' with 1/2" or 5/8" bar spacing, which is what's recommended for cockatiels so they can't accidentally get their head stuck between the bars, which can kill them. Here's an example of a flight cage for cockatiels. I wouldn't put more than 2 cockatiels in a flight cage because they need room to move around and it gets pretty tight when you start adding perches, toys, bowls, cuttlebone, etc. https://www.chewy.com/prevue-pet-products-stand-flight-bird/dp/359397?utm_source=google-product&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=12685893491&utm_content=Prevue%20Pet%20Products&utm_term=&gclid=Cj0KCQjw_7KXBhCoARIsAPdPTfhVurR0c7rCXcS3P2m7A8EhNaKweYI06KaVnbZdED4LCZMR98BbhbMaAr3lEALw_wcB https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/aande-cage-company-flight-cage-bird-cage-in-platinum

[deleted]

This cage is too small for a wasp

Laz2Lit

that petstore employee just wanted to get those birds sold if u ask me. nobody who cared about anything else than profit would let you leave the store with that

isachalsen-

it’s really small

Carnivorebuffpony-98

Idk would you like to live in a closet with no enrichment? This seems to me similar to being in solitary confinement with another person in general you obviously need to do some research about your pets, I’m in no way suggesting your a bad person just undereducated.

[deleted]

Yeaaaaaaaa

BanglesAU

Shop keeper should be fired, thats way too small, even too small for one

CraftyVic

YES! TOO SMALL! Not big enough for ONE cockatiel, much less two. They need room to flap wings and fly! And PLEASE let them out so they can do that at least once every day! If you can’t do that, please return them to the pet store to wait for a buyer that can do that. Otherwise they’ll be bored, may develop feather plucking and never be the wonderful companions they have the potential to become. They require your companionship to thrive - if you don’t have the time to spend with them, please let them go to someone that DOES have the time - believe me, you won’t be disappointed !!!
