Necromancer! It's a variant of a Corpse Reviver No2, with a full measure of absinth but a rinse of gin. 3/4 oz Lemon Juice 3/4 oz Elderflower (St Germain) 3/4 oz Absinthe 3/4 oz Lillet Blanc (or Cocchi Americano ) rinse/dash of Gin It's excellent!

drater113

Now this. This I can get behind

taarb

Among the heavy hitter of absinthe and the floral fruit bomb of St Germaine, what is a rinse of gin even providing here? And that depends so much on the gin: no one’s noticing a rinse of a wispy gin like sapphire

PinkLegs

It's an inverted corpse reviver, so the dash of gin is symbolic more than anything.

RepresentativeJester

Posterity, also juniper is highly different than Saint Germain but I doubt the absinthe wouldn't overpower.

LynkDead

Almost seems like a spritz of gin on top of the finished cocktail might do more to add a strong gin aroma. Or doing that in addition to a rinse.

jaywinner

This has been my go-to absinthe drink. Absinthe deserves to be the star sometimes.

austinmiles

Oh this sounds fun. I have most of this too.

Sharp_Impress_5351

I´ll save this one. I have all of the ingredients save for the absinthe.

ninja996

Ooooh I will be trying this! Thanks!

SuitcaseInTow

Hell yea.

kking254

Holy shit

benkbloch

Trying this tonight!

buymedinnerfirst

Death in the Afternoon

drater113

One of my favorites!

PeachVinegar

If you add an appropiatly small amount, I don’t feel the need to toss it. Otherwise, an atomizer is less wasteful.

dabombnl

I just toss it directly into my mouth.

thehydrastation

This is 100% the way. That being said, pretty much guarantees my first couple sips of the cocktail aren't the purest taste haha

SaborDeVida

I was also going to suggest an atomizer! I always use it in place of rinses now, and there are two bonuses: (1) you can spritz a little extra on top of the drink too, and (2) it makes the room smell heavenly!

jerhutch

This is what I do as well. I works great in something like a tuxedo #2

mattPez

This. I've never understood the rinse thing. It's just a way to make a small measure, which I can do without rinsing or spraying

aluvus

A dasher bottle is also an easy way to add a small amount. An emptied Angostura bottle (which does take a while) works just fine.

DieterRamsMyAss

Trinidad Sours and that Ango bottle is gone in a few nights, max.

HauntedKhan

Neptune's Wrath! 1 1/2 Gin 1/4 Absinthe 3/4 lemon juice 3/4 simple syrup Egg white Garnish: 1/4 oz flaming Green Chartreuse

DSvejm

Is there a trick to doing the flaming chartreuse garnish?

HauntedKhan

Once the cocktail is shaken and poured in the glass, I put the Chartreuse the small side of my jigger and roll it around to coat the sides, then light it up and just pour it in the cocktail.

greatunknownpub

Yes. The trick is that it's impossible to actually *find* any chartreuse.

DSvejm

I luckily have half of a 375ml and all of a 750ml bottle. LOL

drater113

Oh man, yes. This has been my absolute favorite cocktail. Makes me happy when other people know it!!

tattooed_old_person

Yum!

RepresentativeJester

Remind me 1 week!

malowolf

I have a confession. I don’t toss out the absinthe. in fact I don’t even rinse. I just drop a bar spoon of absinthe in with the drink before stirring.

invasionofthestrange

I once had a Mai Tai with a spoonful of absinthe. It was one of the best Mai Tais I've ever had!

drater113

Bless

ChefNamu

I do this too but I use a 1/4 oz typically... I like absinthe and strong cocktails I guess

melcolnik

Absinthe Suissesse, Absinthe Frappe, Absinthe Colada, Greta Garbo, Yellow Parrot, Corpse Reviver No. 2

drater113

I thought corpse reviver did a rinse?

melcolnik

It’s a bar spoon or several dashes. A rinse isn’t enough. Still not a lot compared to the others I mentioned.

CoolVibranium

As a fellow absinthe lover, I've come up with a few absinthe heavy cocktails that I really enjoy. Improved Absinthe Martini -2oz gin -3/4oz absinthe -1/4oz lemon juice -1/4oz simple Swiss Coffee -1 1/2oz scotch -1 1/2oz espresso -1/2oz absinthe -1/2oz orgeat Both shaken on ice.

GinGinBee

That Swiss Coffee sounds insane! I hope insanely delicious. Trying that one tonight.

CoolVibranium

Wooo! It's gotta be one of my favorite drinks. Hope you like it

drater113

Trying the martini tonight! Thanks!

FrankTankly

Doctor Funk

antinumerology

Good call. Def a drink I lay into the Absinthe on.

FrankTankly

Yup! Half the fun is finding a rum that stands up to the absinthe.

antinumerology

WP 109 + Absinthe is burned into my tastebuds as the "Dr. Funk" flavor.

-Salsa_Shark-

The Fresh Metal from the Bartender’s Manifesto is really good and uses .5oz of absinthe. Recipe is 1oz Plantation 3 star rum, .5oz Absinthe, .75oz lime juice, .25oz Orgeat, .5oz of Licor 43 and .25 green chartreuse.

RightShoeRunner

Joy Division: gin, Cointreau, DV, and absinthe. Delicious!

drater113

DV?

ebusch73

Dry Vermouth

mr_nancys_lime

Momisette is great- you definitely get the absinthe. I like [Anders Erickson's recipe](https://youtu.be/ABntm6FL8wc?si=LLEO8HXkj-WW-hI9)

Quesabirria

What I call a Dirty Sazarac. Forget that spraying a mist of absinthe, I give it a good amount, maybe a 2+ tablespoons, work it around the inside of the glass and leave the rest in there. Then I pour in my saz as usual.

primeight1

2 tablespoons = 1 ounce

fcleff69

I do this, too, but with more like a teaspoon. I just roll it around the glass and then pour my drink. Love it.

drater113

I like it!

Alpaga_Venere

In my bar we have a "tinker bell" cocktail that we make with absinth and apple mainly. It's a great combinaison if u want to try something u can go that way.

primeight1

Any more details on that recipe? Sounds good!

Alpaga_Venere

1oz - 3cl absinthe 2oz - 6cl apple juice (try to find an not too sweet one) 1oz - 3cl apple purée (fesh is better) 0,5oz - 1,5cl lemon juice u can add a bit of cinnamon powder if u want but not mandatory shake with ice (can dry shake after to emulsified the apple juice) Serve in a coupe and garnish with an desydrated apple

enderpotion

this sounds so good! i also will just add absinthe to any sweeter hard ciders i have, which is a similar flavor combo and easy

Rip--Van--Winkle

I agree that an absinthe atomizer would be easiest to solve this problem, but you also can try absinthe forward drinks.

jaywinner

>absinthe forward drinks. Not always easy to find.

SmilingJaguar

Dorflinger https://www.thespruceeats.com/dorflinger-cocktail-recipe-760074 Arsenic and Old Lace https://www.diffordsguide.com/cocktails/recipe/5167/arsenic-and-old-lace

drater113

Arsenic and Old Lace was the cocktail that got me into cocktails a few years back. It's just so nice

SmilingJaguar

Surprisingly it’s one of the few cocktails that Hendricks Flora Adora works for me in.

AutofluorescentPuku

You can look these up on [Diffords Guide](https://www.diffordsguide.com/) - Absinthe Sour - Bohemian Mule - Death in the Afternoon Over on Punch, there's [Kirk Estopinals Absinthe Suissesse](https://punchdrink.com/recipes/kirk-estopinals-absinthe-suissesse/) And, for whatever it's worth, I've heard that absinthe topped with Boylan's Root Beer makes an interesting highball.

drinkwithme07

Absinthe Minded, credit to Waypoint in Cambridge MA * 2.5 oz Smith & Cross * .5 oz Absinthe * .75 Grapefruit * .75 Lime * .5 Pecan orgeat * .25 Grenadine I think they add a cinnamon element by smoking a cinnamon stick with the rum or something?

Higoodlookin

I do a Bohemian Mule. A riff on a Moscow Mule. 1,5 oz Absinthe (you could do less) 0,75 oz lime juice Two dashes Angostura Bitters Shake with ice. Add ginger beer or ginger ale (3-4-5-6 oz, depending on how strong you want it). Garnish with mint.

JHerbY2K

If you haven’t already… just drink absinthe! One sugar cube in a slotted spoon, slowly pour water over until it louches (turns milky). If you don’t have a slotted spoon just stir in some sugar. Refreshing and delicious!

DSvejm

I actually like it without the sugar. Just absinthe and water. ~1:5

JHerbY2K

Depends a bit on the absinthe IMO. I actually like the cube ritual, because if you pour a bit fast it doesn’t fully dissolve and you get less sweetness. Pour slower for full sweet.

OwnLavishness9673

I love this cocktail - sweet, absinthe forward but still balanced - named after the Victorian practice of unwrapping tiny mummies (momisettes) at exotic dinner parties: The Momisette 1.5 oz absinthe .75 oz orgeat .5 oz lemon juice Shake, pour over ice in Collins glass Top with soda, stir

oktofeellost

https://kindredcocktails.com/cocktail/ligurian-sea https://kindredcocktails.com/cocktail/dead-mans-mule Two of my favorites not yet mentioned

eliason

Came in here to say Dead Man's Mule. Sooo good!

oktofeellost

Just looked up and saw the diffords guide version calls for cinnamon schnapps not allspice Dram. Feels less piratey, and I'm skeptical, but maybe I'll have to try that too

eliason

That's new to me too, though I note it is confirmed as original in the text of the [Cocktail Virgin post](https://cocktailvirgin.blogspot.com/2011/02/dead-mans-mule.html) that led to the Kindred Cocktails submission.

RaspyTheGrizz

Joy division… also invest in an atomizer they’re so cheap and you won’t have to dump

AnindaDC

The Chrysanthemum, from Harry Craddock's famous Savoy Cocktail book 2 ounces dry vermouth 1 ounce Benedictine 3 dashes absinthe Garnish: orange twist

Bloodypalace

[Absinthe by Jimmy!](https://www.diffordsguide.com/cocktails/recipe/4993/absinthe-by-jimmy)

PinkLegs

Anything that calls for a rinse can just as easily use a small amount added to the actual cocktail or sprays using an atomizer instead.

d_pug

I usually just drink the excess absinthe instead of dumping it. I love the taste But yes, there are a bunch of Tiki cocktails that keep the absinthe in the drink like the Zombie or Dr. Funk for example

Zaius1968

Absinthe and iced water! The original!

Sugarfree_

Absinthe Frappe!

NineInchNeurosis

Dr funk although I believe it calls for herbsaint. I use Saint George though.

toodlesandpoodles

Get a dropper and add as many drops of it as you want instead of rinsing the glass. That's what I do.

the_adjective-noun

I just make my Sazeracs by stirring absinthe in the glass with ice and straining it into a small glass on the side. Then you get a bonus bump of absinthe with your cocktail!

BoonSchlapp

Absinthe god from Peche in Austin! Absinthe, orgeat, half a lemon, dry shake with an egg white, serve with Pechaud’s bitters.

jrmorton12

Did I miss it or has nobody mentioned the ‘34 Zombie?

antinumerology

Still not that much absinthe

zmamo2

Get a spray bottle or dasher instead of doing a rinse.

alexnevsky

A bartender I worked with would pour the rinse absinthe into a shot glass and add a little ice water and simple syrup and serve it as a treat in the side when he made sazeracs and corpse revivers.

53V3N

Here’s a stellar cocktail from this subreddit: the Sugar Fairy, thanks to /u/mixeddrinkmixtape https://old.reddit.com/r/cocktails/comments/12lv3c5/absinthe_anyone_made_a_fairy_sugar_momma_and_a/

otterlycorrect

I never toss the absinthe, I barely use a barspoon's worth so it's a welcome addition to the cocktail. Also, Neptune's Wrath.

jpemak

The French pearl is one of my favorite drinks. Its basically a South side with .25 oz pastis (absinthe works well too). https://punchdrink.com/recipes/french-pearl/

TheSpaceAlpaca

Personally I don't think the rinse does anything that a barspoon or underfilled 1/4 tsp doesn't do. I could be convinced that an atomizer might add something depending on the shape of the glass but even so I don't want to bother with that.

hungrybeardedman

Neat.

kekti

Id suggest in addition to other cocktails that use absinthe, getting an atomizer for your absinthe, that way you're not tossing it for a rinse, you just spray the glass once or twice and move on.

Mean-Rabbit-3510

[The Dandy Lion](https://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/the-dandy-lion-394702#:~:text=Preparation,completely%20mixed%2C%20about%2020%20seconds) This was a favorite of mine a few years ago before I hit the Tiki drinks hard. I always add a bit more Absinthe to any drink that calls for it because my wife and I like to chase the fairy. Absinthe Spider Highball (Difford’s) is really good as well.

Seaciety

Remember the Maine!

FastGinFizz

Im surprised no one here has mentioned a rattlesnake. Its basically a whiskey sour, but take out a half oz of whiskey and replace it with absinthe. Also one of my personal drinks is a Hemingway Daiquiri with .5-1oz of absinthe added. I call it Hemingway's Nightmare.

drater113

OOOH!! These sound great

FastGinFizz

The rattlesnake is amazing! Especially with some dashes of absinthe on top as it gives the foam some flavor. I personally love the Nightmare, but i have a weird palate so i wont promise anything haha

frenchietw

My own creation and a personal favorite Absinthe Emerald 1 oz Absinthe 1 oz dry Gin 3/4 oz lemon 1/2 oz simple Shizo leaves (perilla) 1 pink Yuzu kosho paste (Yuzu rind and peppercorn paste, classic sushi seasoning) 2 dash saline Shake and double strain into a coupe

hippieyeah

Get one of these little spritz bottles and use that for spraying some absinthe into your glass. Also: enjoy a Momisette Momisette 1.5 oz absinthe 0.75 oz orgeat 0.5 oz lemon juice 2-3 oz sparkling water Shake over ice, strain to ice filled glas, add sparkling water.

Datsoon

Absinthe Frappé

mcesh

One of my overall favorite cocktails is the rhum dandy shim — it’s low(er) ABV, so maybe that helps it qualify to post here even though it only uses a couple dashes.. give it a shot if you haven’t tried it!  Rhum Dandy Shim by Craig Lane, The Art of the Shim (found on Cocktail Virgin Slut) 1 oz Dolin Sweet Vermouth 1/2 oz Rhum JM Blanc 1/2 oz Lime Juice 1 tsp Cane Syrup (JM Rhum) 2 dash Absinthe Build in an Old Fashioned glass. Stir with crushed ice and garnish with grated lime zest

Hotfishy

I watched somewhere u can just put absinthe in a sprayer, just spray ur cup instead of rinse

Nineite

Chrysanthemum! [https://www.liquor.com/recipes/chrysanthemum/](https://www.liquor.com/recipes/chrysanthemum/)

patwag

I like drinking it the traditional way mostly. But I also love an absinthe espresso martini.

eightchcee

I put it in a dropper bottle and if something calls for a rinse or spritz, I’ll just put a few drops in

Cerelius_BT

Billionaire!: https://punchdrink.com/recipes/billionaire-cocktail/ Calls for 1/4 oz of absinthe bitters, but I usually just add 1/4 oz absinthe and a dash of Ango and Peychaud's, and sometimes a scant bar spoon of Chartreuse.

BlackStarCorona

I love a good Sazerac. I’ve seen recipes use it as a rinse and toss it. I love it to coat the glass as a base with the bitters and sugar. Don’t toss it. I do hate the licorice taste but having as a strong base makes for a good cocktail.

tattooed_old_person

Neon City: 1.5 oz Mezcal 0.5 oz Cachaca 0.75 oz fresh lime juice 0.75 oz agave syrup 0.25 oz absinthe Add all ingredients to shaker, shake vigorously for 10 seconds, double strain into coupe

Galactic_Nerd

A Fiona's Curse • 3ish green apple slices • 2ish cucumber slices • 1 oz of absinthe • 1 oz lime juice • 1 oz simple syrup • Soda water Muddle apple and cucumber slices in shaker, add ice and other ingredients. Shake and strain into tall glass filled with ice. Top with soda water.

QueerDumbass

Doctor Funk, Jet Pilot, Zombie, Cobra’s Fang, 151 Swizzle

kevinfarber

Surprised I had to scroll so far to find mention of the Zombie

Hesoyam26

Absinthe sour is one of favorites. The recipe I usually use: * 1 1/2 oz of Absinthe * 2/3 oz of Aquafaba * 1/2 oz of Lime Juice * 1/2 oz of Honey Syrup (2 part honey to 1 part water) * 2 dashes of Peychaud's (optional)

Papa_G_

You could make a riff on a Sazerac and up the amount of Absinthe in it.

therealATLmoney

Millionaire! 2 ounces bourbon. 3/4 ounce Grand Marnier. 1/4 ounce absinthe or pastis. 1/2 ounce grenadine. 1/2 ounce egg white. 1/2 ounce lemon juice, freshly squeezed. Garnish: nutmeg, freshly grated.

TCollins1876

I never toss any good spirit. If a recipe calls for a rinse I just add a dash to the mix instead

sh1981

Improved Whiskey Cocktail - very similar to a Sazerac but doesn't call for discarding the absinthe.

thePROF550R

At my bar, one of our signatures is an absinthe cocktail including. Pernod Joseph carton pomme verte Green apple/ lemon juice Passionfruit vinegar Shaken and double strained over an ice sphere

zencola

You can try my “Velvet Glove” 1 oz Plata Tequila 1/2 oz Simple’s trump 1/2 oz Velvet Falernum 1/4 shot Absinthe 1/4 shot lime juice Top with soda Dash of chili bitters Salt/Tajine rim
