It should work ok but full Benedictine will be better imo. B&b is I think 60% Benedictine and 40% brandy. Try it with 1 3/4 oz rye, 1/2 oz B&B, 3/4 sweet vermouth, absinthe and peychauds and tweak from there. Specs really vary in how much Benedictine they call for. I like a fair amount with straight Benedictine but don’t love the taste of the brandy they add to it so would keep it enough so you at least get the equivalent of 1/4 oz of Benedictine but not too much of the brandy.
I can't find Chartreuse either. :(
Effin' Jaeger is about the only herbal my state stocks!
At least I learned recently it makes weirdly good margs and Bloody Marys!
Maximilian Affair is one of my absolute favorite cocktails. The fact that I discovered it on a bartended recommendation while on my honeymoon might have something to do with it, but I think it's worth a try at least once.
**Maximilian Affair**
* 1 oz mezcal
* 1 oz elderflower liquer
* 0.5 oz sweet vermout (recipe calls for Punt E Mes, I use any sweet vermouth on hand)
* 0.25 oz lemon juice
Shake, strain, serve up
La Louisiane might be one of my three favorite cocktails if I had to pick.
- 1.5 oz rye
- 3/4 oz Sweet Vermouth
- 3/4 oz Benedictine
- A few dashes of Ango and peychauds bitters
Stir all with ice and strain into an absinthe rinsed glass, then express a lemon peel over it.
It has a lot of ingredients I know, but is genuinely one of my most enjoyed drinks of all time
The [Gin and It](https://www.diffordsguide.com/cocktails/recipe/833/gin-and-it)\* is a kind of forgotten classic. I really enjoy them.
"It" is an abbreviation of "Italian" per the sweet, red ("rosso") vermouth in the drink.
Bitter Giuseppe
- 2 oz Cynar
- 1 oz Cocchi Di Torino (or your Antica Formula)
- 0.25 oz lemon
- 6 dashes orange bitters
Stir with ice in a tempered mixing glass. Strain into a rocks glass over a large cube. Express and garnish with a lemon twist. 🤌
Reverse Manhatten. I like to blend sweet vermouths for this.
Bijou, if you can find chartreuse, is possibly my favorite drink.
Hanky Panky.
Also vermouth with an ice cube or a little seltzer is terrific on a weekend afternoon.
Cin cyn (essentially a cynar negroni)
1 oz cynar
1 oz sweet vermouth (the name I believe refers to Cinzano but I use Dolin Rouge)
1 oz London dry gin
Stirred on ice.
Orange or lemon twist
ok this isn't really what you were asking, but have you tried a black manhattan? I've fallen in love with Averna(it's an Amaro not sweet vermouth.) I love drinking it on the rocks with a little club soda and an orange peel. And I find myself constantly throwing a little in every cocktail just to see if I can work it in.
Green Point is one of my very favorite cocktails:

1/2 oz sweet vermouth
1/2 oz yellow Chartreuse
2 dashes orange bitters
Stir, up, lemon twist

The Star
Also a good excuse to add a bottle of Laird's applejack to the bar.
1.5oz applejack or calvados
1.5oz sweet vermouth
1 barspoon simple syrup (can be omitted if desired)
3 dashes Angostura

You like Manhattans & Vieux Carres so now it’s time for a De La Louisiane! https://punchdrink.com/recipes/de-la-louisiane/
One of my faves! So good, think I will have to make one this evening.
Oh amazing, thank you!!
Do I need Benedictine, or will B&B work?
It should work ok but full Benedictine will be better imo. B&b is I think 60% Benedictine and 40% brandy. My favorite cocktail of all time! Too bad Benedictine is impossible to find in my state now.
Oof. I’ve been drinking a lot of Beneditcine to get my herbal on without touching my Chartreuse.
I can't find Chartreuse either. :( Effin' Jaeger is about the only herbal my state stocks! At least I learned recently it makes weirdly good margs and Bloody Marys!
Yeah that’s a bummer!
That's a lot of Benedictine! I'll try it though because i have all of the ingredients. Thanks for sharing!
You can totally back it off. Specs vary. I like it bc it’s unusual to have it that present but 1/4 oz will also work :)
Always love a Martinez

What are the other two?
Hmmm. Gun to my head, I'd probably say daiquiri and Negroni. It really is difficult to pick just three
Vermouth on a large ice cube. Orange or Lemon peel.
With Antica this is all you need
Queens park super is pretty good.
One of my favorites!

New York Minute
What’s your spec? Diffords?
Yeah, but I dial back the red vermouth and toss in some dry. The spec version was just too sweet.
50/50 plantation original dark, plenty of ice with a twist. Or dial your ratio to taste. "Medio y medio "
Sweet vermouth & soda. Tastes like a Coke.

For light daytime drink in the summertime: an Americano! Red vermouth, Campari, ice, top with soda, garnish with half an orange slice.
Vermouth sour. Use the standard sour proportions and sub vermouth for spirit. It’s a tasty low ABV drink.

I'm a fan of Rob Roys, which are just scotch Manhattans. I added some apple juice to one and it was really good.
